US President Donald Trump said the shortage of ammunition in American arsenals is linked to military aid provided to Ukraine by the previous Joe Biden administration.

He spoke about this in an interview with Newsmax, trying to refute suggestions that the arms shortage could have worsened due to the war with Iran.

According to Trump, under Biden, Ukraine has received a large quantity of American weapons, including Patriot systems and Tomahawk missiles. He also criticized his predecessor's decision to provide weapons without requiring payment.

"They handed over a huge number of Patriots, Tomahawks, everything. And they didn't make him pay. There was no one to pay," the American president said.

Trump's assertion about the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv is inconsistent with the known facts. Neither the Biden administration nor the current US administration transferred these missiles to Ukraine, although Ukraine did indeed request them.

Trump also reiterated the $350 billion figure he claimed the previous administration sent to Ukraine in cash and military equipment. However, these figures differ significantly from the actual aid provided: under Biden, the US allocated approximately $67 billion for weapons and another $31.5 billion in direct budget support to Ukraine.

Trump also expressed suspicions that some American weapons may have been resold after arriving in Ukrainian territory. However, he provided no evidence for these allegations in his speech.

"Where's the cash we gave Ukraine? Where's all that? Where's all the equipment?" the US president asked, once again criticizing his predecessor's policies. Trump also compared Zelenskyy to P. T. Barnum, the 19th-century American showman, repeating a characterization he has used previously. Trump's remarks come amid renewed tensions between Washington and Kyiv over Ukraine's military operations against Russian targets and the terms of continued American support.

Recall, Germany plans to supplement American Tomahawk cruise missiles with cheaper long-range strike capabilities, including the Ukrainian Bars missile-drones currently under consideration. The Bundeswehr wants to receive the new weapons as early as 2027 in order to be able to launch massive strikes over long distances. Defense Express reports this, citing the German publication hartpunkt. According to Christian Freuding, a representative of the Bundeswehr leadership, Germany seeks to create ground-based means of striking targets at distances of up to 1,500 km. According to journalists, the Ukrainian Bars and the American Anthem missile are among the promising options under consideration.

At the same time, Berlin plans to purchase 400 Tomahawk missiles and three batteries of Typhon launchers. Combining expensive cruise missiles with cheaper systems will make it possible to increase the number of simultaneous strikes and complicate the work of the enemy's air defense. Although Germany is only preparing to receive the Ukrainian missile-drones, Ukraine's Defense Forces are already using them against Russian military facilities.
