Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev and Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets met with Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration. Yuriy Husyev posted about this on his "X" account.
It was reported that bilateral cooperation and humanitarian issues were discussed at the meeting. Gratitude was expressed for Ukraine's continued support for Azerbaijan.
Recall, Yuriy Husyev thanked Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev for their support of Ukrainian children affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war.
"We greatly appreciate and thank Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the government, and the entire Azerbaijani people for their support of Ukrainian children. We will never forget this," Gusev told reporters at Baku Airport, where another group of children from Ukraine's Kharkiv and Kherson regions arrived.
According to him, the rehabilitation program implemented by Azerbaijan contributes to the rapprochement of children from the two countries, as well as their families and peoples. "This is a very important program that brings together children from Ukraine and Azerbaijan, uniting families and our peoples. Thank you very much, Azerbaijan," the ambassador added.
Besides, the ombudspersons of Azerbaijan and Ukraine discussed prospects for cooperation in human rights protection. Meanwhile, it was reported that Ombudsperson Sabina Aliyeva met with Dmytro Lubinets, the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The meeting addressed issues related to the protection of human rights and freedoms, the development of international cooperation in this area, as well as prospects for cooperation between the ombudsman institutions of the two countries. The Ombudsperson expressed satisfaction with the existing fruitful cooperative relations between the ombudsman institutions of the two countries. She discussed with Dmytro Lubinets the prospects for cooperation in the field of effectively protecting and ensuring human rights in the current situation.
Sabina Aliyeva highlighted the importance of further strengthening relations and cooperation between ombudsman institutions in the field of human rights and freedoms. Dmytro Lubinets emphasized the importance of mutual exchange of experience between ombudsman institutions in the field of human rights.
