"Vivaldi" could become the most high-tech operation. Military observer Alexander Kovalenko writes about this in his blog . There's a lot of talk these days about the Third Army Corps' Operation Vivaldi, which aims to expand Ukrainian Armed Forces control zones in the Liman area, especially after it was officially confirmed by Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky, commander of the 3rd Army Corps. But most of the time, when this operation is mentioned, it's primarily a discussion of open-source information regarding the advancement of Ukrainian troops and the prospects for future developments. However, one crucial point is being overlooked. Operation Vivaldi could not only become the most effective operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a single area in 2026, but also the most high-tech. The fact is that Operation Vivaldi saw the largest deployment of drones and ROVs. Some of the military's most dangerous missions were performed by robotic systems. For example, the 3rd Army Corps used a demining group of mine-clearing rocket launchers for the first time not only during the full-scale war in Ukraine but also in the history of wars and conflicts worldwide! In the Shandrigolovo area, the demining group cleared over 30 km of roads! Robotic systems carried out the extremely complex task of demining the area in two nights, while a similar area would have taken two companies of sappers about two weeks, with the attendant risk to their lives. The main result of using this technology is the absolute absence of losses among sappers. Some time ago, I drew attention to the fact that the 3rd AC is the most robotic operational-tactical military formation in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the use of NRC covers almost all aspects of the corps' functionality. Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky has repeatedly noted that, to minimize losses, units of the 3rd Army Corps rely primarily on the advance guard of the NRK during assault operations. Aerial drone bombers and kamikazes, ground fire support, logistics and supply, evacuation, and even the actual mining of the area are also included.
Thanks to remote mining, the Third Army Corps was able to mine a 400-meter section along the enemy's main supply routes in two nights, which significantly complicated the logistics of the Russian occupation forces in the Liman direction. Wherever a drone, whether aerial or ground, can be used, it is used. This allows for a significant reduction in casualties during various types of operations. During "Vivaldi," some truly revolutionary solutions were used, which, I believe, after all seasons are completed, will be studied at international military educational institutions. One such solution is already well-known: highly effective mine clearance using NRK. Yes, there's been a lot of talk about this before, especially after the 2023 counteroffensive. But it's one thing to talk and flutter the air, and quite another to actually do it. And the Third Army Corps did. I think that in the near future this practice will be applied in other areas where the main problem for troop advancement is anti-personnel minefields.
