Ukrainian forces have destroyed two Russian Buk air defense systems following a months-long intelligence operation conducted by the K-2 Brigade, the 45th Brigade and the Third Army Corps, Defense Express says. The K-2 Brigade published video footage showing the engagement, documenting the destruction of the two russian air defense assets. According to the brigade, its aerial reconnaissance units had been tracking the systems for several months. During this period, operators monitored their movements and gathered the intelligence required to identify the targets and determine the right moment for a strike. Once the targets were finally confirmed, the collected information was passed to the 45th Brigade for the engagement. Ukrainian artillery crews subsequently struck both russian air defense systems. The strikes resulted in the destruction of two Russian Buk air defense systems.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukraine has a domestic air defense solution capable of destroying russia’s Banderol missile-drones. Russia continues to develop new strike systems for attacks against Ukrainian cities, including the S8000 Banderol, a weapon that combines characteristics of a missile and a drone. The system has been increasingly used by russian forces. Ukraine, however, is already developing technological solutions specifically aimed at countering this threat. Brave1 reported that one system developed by a member of the defense technology cluster has demonstrated the ability to destroy Banderol missile-drones. A key advantage of the solution is its cost-effectiveness. According to Brave1, the cost of intercepting is significantly lower than the cost of the system itself, potentially allowing Ukraine to engage such targets without relying exclusively on expensive conventional air defense missiles.

The cluster also said that there are already several domestic developments capable of countering Banderol system. This suggests that Ukraine is pursuing more than a single technological solution against the emerging Russian weapon. Brave1 emphasized that the development and scaling of such technologies could strengthen the protection of Ukrainian cities while making the country's air defense architecture more economically efficient. This approach could become increasingly important as russia introduces new types of strike weapons.
