Security forces defending the Putin regime stormed an informal music festival in the Leningrad region, where participants allegedly sang songs in support of Ukraine and demanded Putin's overthrow. This was reported by the Telegram channel Baza, which is linked to Russian security agencies, and the propaganda agency RIA Novosti.
Thus, Baza reports that special forces and operatives cordoned off a forested area in the Vyborg district and detained approximately 100 participants in the aforementioned event.
Security forces are inspecting tents and searching for drugs, confiscating quadcopters and assessing posters with Ukrainian symbols that festival participants hung near the makeshift stage. Festival participants allegedly sang songs in support of Ukraine and called for regime change in the Russian Federation. Baza claims that the festival has been running since 2023, and its location is being kept secret by the organizers until the very end, and then "is only disclosed to insiders." Meanwhile, propagandists from RIA Novosti are calling the festival participants "left-wing radicals."
Meanwhile, foreign analysts are emphasizing Putin's growing fears ahead of the parliamentary elections and the Kremlin's move to purge even the opposition it controls.
Amid preparations for the State Duma elections, the Kremlin has even begun to crack down on the so-called "pocket" opposition, seeking to exert maximum control over the electoral process. This is reported in The Telegraph . As an example, the publication cites Boris Nadezhdin, who positions himself as an "opposition politician." In July, he was designated a "foreign agent." In addition, an administrative case was opened against him in connection with the publication of an image of Alexei Navalny, which the Russian regime regarded as a display of prohibited symbols. As a result, Nadezhdin lost the opportunity to participate in the elections and left the Russian Federation. Journalists also focus on the Yabloko party , which, as stated in the article, is the only political force in the Russian Federation that opposes the war. According to the newspaper, this party may soon face the threat of a complete ban. The publication calculated that at least 23 candidates have been barred from running in the elections in recent months. In many cases, the grounds for refusal were related to accusations of so-called "extremist activity." In addition, Russian authorities imposed sanctions on politicians for publishing links to social networks Instagram and Facebook, which are banned in Russia. What's happening indicates a further narrowing of the political space in Russia. While the Kremlin could previously tolerate the existence of a limited "systemic opposition" that created the semblance of political competition, the authorities are now demonstrating an increasingly less willingness to tolerate even controlled criticism. Journalists note that Putin is becoming increasingly dependent on Russian security agencies, particularly the FSB, and has begun to avoid traveling to regions attacked by Ukrainian drones, confirming his paranoia.
