Ukraine has calculated the average cost of its drone strike operations against Russia. Killing or wounding occupiers is the most expensive, according to Business Insider.
According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the destruction of one Russian soldier in June cost the Ukrainian Armed Forces $3,032.
The ministry noted that the attack on one unit of Russian equipment cost $2,674, and on an infrastructure facility, $1,487, which is less than half the cost of defeating one invader. "The published data comes as Ukraine has been striving to make its drone attacks more cost-effective in recent years. In 2024, Ukrainian forces said they spent approximately $20,000 on drones to kill one Russian soldier," BI notes. The West has calculated that Ukraine kills or wounds approximately 30,000 Russian occupiers every month. The ministry added that the information was collected using the Mission Control system, a digital command and control program launched in January that analyzes missions carried out by unmanned units.
Kyiv says the system collects over 230,000 reports weekly, and over 50,000 missions have been registered to date. "The Mission Control system allowed us not only to plan and track missions but also to evaluate their cost-effectiveness. For example, in June, every dollar spent by the Armed Forces on strikes caused Russia nearly five dollars in damage," the Ministry of Defense noted.
The ministry, in turn, calculated that the maintenance of one military service member costs the Russian Federation approximately 65 thousand dollars. "In every category, the enemy's spending is several times greater than ours," the department emphasized. Additionally, "Mission Control", (a module of the DELTA system, Ukraine's digital combat management system, allows drone crews to record the value of weapons used during each strike, as well as the value of Russian equipment they damage or destroy. "This allows us to quickly adapt to changing conditions on the front lines," the ministry noted.
It is also known that last month Ukraine used the DELTA system to record 6,600 drone strikes per day in June, which amounts to approximately 200,000 strikes for that month. Earlier, Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Vadim Skibitsky, outlined what to prepare for in the fall and winter . According to him, Putin plans to complete the seizure of the Donetsk region by the end of this year.
"In winter, our most vulnerable point is electricity and heating, so they can also come under attack. For example, not long ago, the Russians developed a drone designed to destroy power transmission towers. Its wings contain an explosive element capable of cutting metal," Skibitsky explained.
