Russia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Baku Mikhail Yevdokimov has been summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. According to a statement released by the MFA serious concern and "firm protest" have been brought to the attention of the other side regarding the "provocative, insulting and threatening statements made against the Republic of Azerbaijan, its people and the country's leadership" in the Russian information space in recent times. "It was emphasized that discussing the possibilities of interfering in the internal political processes of the Azerbaijani state and calling for physical violence against its people and leadership is unacceptable," the statement added.
As it was emphasized, during the meeting, Russia's expectations for taking urgent, effective measures to put an end to the rhetoric of provocation, threats and violence against Azerbaijan in the information and media space were once again brought to the attention of the other side. So far, it has not been possible to get a response to this statement from the Russian embassy in Azerbaijan and other responsible institutions of this country.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has placed some Russian experts and journalists on an international wanted list. The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has reported on this. The Russian citizens are Ivan Knyazev, a journalist and presenter of the Moscow 24 TV channel , Semyon Uralov , a political consultant and media expert , and Alexei Chadayev, an advisor to the Russian Minister of Transport, who works as a television journalist . As it was emphasized, on July 14 of this year, they were suspected of calling for a forced change in the constitutional structure of Azerbaijan, the disintegration of its territorial integrity, and the incitement of national hatred and enmity in the program "Purity of Understanding" on the channel "Semen Uralov" on the YouTube platform. It is also alleged that there are reasonable suspicions that these individuals made open calls for terrorism in a program broadcast on the aforementioned channel on August 13.

A criminal case has been initiated and the preliminary investigation has been entrusted to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office. The individuals in question have been declared wanted and a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen for them.

It was added that the Prosecutor General's Office has made relevant applications for their identification, detention and extradition to Azerbaijan in the territory of partner states, as well as necessary measures have been taken to organize their international search through Interpol channels.

So far, it has not been possible to obtain a response from the individuals in question and official Russian institutions to this official statement and the allegations contained therein.

Although there have been some tensions in Azerbaijan-Russia relations in recent years, it was later announced that the misunderstandings had been resolved. In particular, in this regard, on December 25, 2024, an Embraer 190 aircraft flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near the city of Aktau, killing 38 people.

Azerbaijani officials have been holding Russia responsible for the incident, stressing that the plane was intercepted in Russian airspace and that it had deviated from its course and headed towards Kazakhstan. Baku officials have been demanding that Moscow admit responsibility for the crash, punish the perpetrators and pay compensation. Although the Russian side initially apologized, other demands remained unfulfilled for a long time. However, in April of this year, it was announced that an agreement had been reached between Azerbaijan and Russia regarding the crash of the AZAL plane.
