Iran is undertaking a major reorganization of its armed forces in preparation for a protracted confrontation with Israel and the United States. Tehran intends to abandon its primarily defensive model and develop capabilities for more rapid offensive operations beyond its own borders.
One of the key elements of the new doctrine should be reducing the time between receiving intelligence and launching a strike. Military leadership hopes to more closely integrate the IRGC and the regular army, allowing units to more quickly exchange information and respond to enemy actions.
IRGC General Mohammad Reza Naghdi stated that the changes should allow Iran to do more than simply repel attacks. The armed forces are preparing to gain the ability to quickly launch offensive operations and engage enemy targets at significant distances.
Tehran believes that the confrontation with Israel and the United States will not end with the current phase of the war. Therefore, the focus is not only on restoring damaged military infrastructure, but also on restructuring the entire troop command and control system for a protracted conflict.
Against this backdrop, the recent personnel changes in the senior military leadership take on particular significance. Key positions are being given to IRGC officials known for their hardline stance on the war and the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.
At the same time, the Khatam ol-Anbiya task force is being integrated into the General Staff structure. This is expected to speed up decision-making and ensure the exchange of information from the battlefield in near real time.
The new strategy assigns a special role to missile and drone forces. They give Iran the ability to conduct large-scale attacks far beyond its own territory and are intended to become one of the primary tools of its offensive doctrine.
At the same time, Tehran continues to increase production of ballistic missiles. Naghdi claims that the current production rate significantly exceeds their consumption during combat.
The Iranian general also stated that the country possesses numerous potential missile production sites, some of which are already in operation. This, he said, should allow for sustained strike intensity even in the event of a multi-year war.
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Mohammad Reza Naghdi stated that Iran is prepared to continue launching missiles until the war ends, even if it lasts for several years. He emphasized that Iran is striving to create a deterrent strong enough to discourage a potential adversary from launching a military attack.
As one of the possible scenarios, he allowed the conflict to continue until the next presidential term in the United States, hoping to weaken the enemy and demonstrate to other potential aggressors the high cost of such a step.
The IRGC general also noted that he believes the future of "occupied Palestine" should be determined by the majority of people with ties to the territory. He emphasized that such a solution should not be achieved through the use of nuclear weapons, although he stated that Iran advocates the end of the "Zionist regime."
