Rumors are actively spreading in Iranian political circles and the media about the critical condition of the country's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

According to Iran Wire, citing informed sources close to President Masoud Pezeshkian, the head of state and members of his government have not held a single personal meeting with Khamenei since the US strike on the Iranian leadership's residence on February 28, which killed the previous leader, Ali Khamenei. Since officially assuming office in early March, Mojtaba Khamenei has made no public appearances or public statements. His activity has been limited to occasional written statements distributed through state news agencies. The leader's prolonged absence has fueled speculation about a possible serious injury or illness.

According to sources, the leader's physical condition is considered extremely serious. One of the publication's sources noted that his condition is poor, emphasizing, "The news of his death will not come as a surprise" to many members of the political elite in Tehran. Meanwhile, Iranian officials have refrained from commenting on these reports, leaving the information at the level of unverified leaks.

President Masoud Pezeshkian publicly acknowledged that direct communication with the Supreme Leader is "very difficult" in the current situation. Nevertheless, he maintains that Khamenei continues to participate in key government processes.

Specifically, on national television, the Iranian president revealed the details of the agreement with Islamabad: the Supreme Leader initially opposed the initiative, but agreed to approve it if at least three-quarters of the members of the Supreme National Security Council signed the document. Ultimately, 12 of the 13 council members supported the decision, after which the leader gave his final approval to the agreement.

Pezeschkian also called on opponents to stop speculating about the head of state, accusing a number of politicians of trying to use the issue of his health to fuel internal conflicts and divisions in society.

Recall, amid ongoing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, Donald Trump said the war could end "pretty soon," while reports emerged that a temporary agreement on shipping in the region was being prepared.

According to sources, Iran and Oman have agreed to a framework agreement envisaging the creation of new shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. Ships are expected to be able to enter the Persian Gulf via an Iranian-controlled route and exit via an Omani-controlled route. However, according to an Iranian official involved in drafting the agreement, the document does not stipulate charging fees to commercial vessels for safe passage, despite earlier reports in Iranian media. The agreement is temporary and is intended to pave the way for a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran and the resumption of nuclear negotiations.

It is noted that the International Maritime Organization and the United States may participate in the official announcement of the agreement. According to sources in the Gulf countries, the agreement has already received approval from the Gulf Cooperation Council states, but the timing of the official announcement has not yet been determined.

Speaking at the White House, Trump declared, "The war will be over pretty soon. I don't think the Iranians can continue it much longer." However, he avoided directly confirming an agreement: "I don't want to say there's an agreement. The strait is pretty open right now. There's what's called a blockade, which is run by the U.S. Navy, and we're enforcing it."
