The Moscow region has begun publishing information about locations that can be used for temporary shelter in the event of a potential attack. Interactive maps showing the locations of shelters have appeared on municipal websites. The Moscow Times reports this. The Lyubertsy municipal district, located approximately 18 kilometers from Moscow, was one of the first to publish such a map. It shows hundreds of facilities designated as "deepened spaces" intended for temporary housing of citizens in emergency situations.
The list included basements of residential buildings, underground parking lots, post offices, and other premises located in Lyubertsy, Dzerzhinsky, Oktyabrsky, and a number of other settlements in the district.
The authorities of Podolsk, located approximately 40 kilometers from the Russian capital, have also launched a similar service. The map shows the addresses of shelters, their area, and the maximum number of people they can accommodate.
Local authorities continue to maintain that the situation is under control and urge residents not to panic. In the event of a threat, citizens are advised to carry only the essentials: documents, medications, a mobile phone, and a charger. According to the publication, the activity of Moscow region administrations coincided with discussions of possible strikes on Moscow, the possibility of which, it is claimed, had previously been voiced in the public sphere.
Following the June drone attacks on Moscow and the Moscow region, many residents of the region criticized the warning system, claiming they did not receive timely warnings of the danger.
Residents of Ramenskoye, Kotelniki, and Krasnogorsk say they received no SMS alerts, no air raid sirens, or any other official notifications. They learned of the events only after drones appeared in the sky or explosions were heard.
The Kotelniki administration explained that they do not consider this situation to be their fault. They stated that warning systems are used only when there is a confirmed immediate threat to life, and activating sirens is considered an exceptional measure.
Previously, Moscow Region authorities had not disclosed information about the location of protective structures, despite numerous citizen inquiries in Governor Andrei Vorobyov's Telegram chat. At the time, officials claimed that information about the shelters would only be made public during periods of mobilization or martial law.
It was previously reported that Russian authorities had tightened restrictions on civil aviation due to regular attacks by Ukrainian drones on targets deep within Russian territory. Rosaviatsiya introduced new flight regulations at the Moscow air hub. According to Russian media, these measures could lead to a reduction in the number of flights, as well as increased fuel consumption and flight duration. As a reminder, media previously reported, citing experts, that the war against Ukraine has been not only a military but also a major geopolitical defeat for Russia. The Kremlin is rapidly losing influence beyond its own borders, and its former image as a "guarantor of security" for its allies is effectively destroyed.
