On Wednesday, July 8, drones attacked the Russian city of Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan in Russia. Strategically important facilities—the Nizhnekamskneftekhim petrochemical complex and the TANECO oil refinery—could have been hit.
According to OSINT communities, the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk is on fire. Following the explosions, photos and videos from the scene began appearing online, showing thick plumes of smoke rising from the refinery. The smoke is so thick that it can be seen from other nearby cities. The oil refinery is located 1,300 km from the Ukrainian border.
TANECO is one of the most modern and largest oil refining complexes in Russia. The company produces Euro-5 standard motor gasoline and diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, liquefied petroleum gases, petroleum coke, bitumen, base oils, and other petroleum products. Eyewitness footage shows a drone crashing near the plant, located next to Tatneft's TANECO refinery. Nizhnekamskneftekhim PJSC is also located in the same industrial zone . TAIF-NK JSC is a major oil refining complex in Nizhnekamsk, part of the TAIF Group. The company annually processes over 8 million tons of oil and gas condensate into high-quality Euro-5 fuels and jet fuel.
Also, according to the Exilenova+ Telegram channel, the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk is on fire. Following the explosions, photos and videos from the scene began appearing online, showing thick plumes of smoke billowing over the refinery. The smoke is so thick that it can be seen even from neighboring cities.
Russian authorities have not yet provided official confirmation of the extent of the damage or the consequences of the attack. For now, official authorities remain silent. Meanwhile, videos filmed by Russians themselves are appearing online en masse. The footage shows drones flying over Nizhnekamsk, as well as thick smoke rising above the industrial zone.
Russians are very unhappy with the explosions; they don't even hide their strong emotions, panicking and complaining about the attack.
As a reminder, on the night of July 8, a series of explosions engulfed an oil refinery in Saratov. A video posted online shows thick smoke and flames emanating from the facility.
Additionally, a missile alert was issued in the Moscow region overnight . Rosaviatsiya also announced temporary restrictions on operations at Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports.
