Today we are heading camping with the dogs again! I know, a lot of travel packed into a few weeks! We are headed up to the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan! Copper Country! So you know there will be rock hounding involved! Today was mostly a travel day, but it was so hot when we arrived we had to take the dogs down to Lake Superior to dip their paws! Then right as everyone left for rock hounding, a crazy Thunderstorm rolled in and terrified my dog!

Whoo! It's sucking the sand out from under your feet, huh?
Well, good wonderful beautiful morning Pawdience!
I knew he's gonna open that back up.
We're not ready yet.
You got to stay over there still, cause we're taking things in and out of the house.
Ma'am, that is not too honorable.
Are you girls ready to go camping? Yeah?
We're going up to the UP. Are you ready?
Wanna go Lake Superior and go hiking and see some stuff?
Grandma and Grandpa are coming and Missy and the girls coming.
Yeah, what do you think?
That's what I thought you'd think.
All right. Yeah, I know. I know.
We're gonna finish loading up and we're getting ready.
We are to hit the road.
All right, we are loaded.
Dad's going to grab his shoes because he almost forgot them.
That could have been a problem and we're gonna hit the road and head north.
I will say that those ceramic tinted windows, that ceramic tint has made a huge difference.
It's like 87 degrees outside.
We just stopped to let the dogs outside.
We had it down to 72 back here without even running the generator to run the AC in here.
And we stopped and it's 76 in here now.
We got the fans going, but once we turn this back on, it should cool back down pretty quick.
So black ceramic tint, totally worth it.
Hey look, there's mom and dad. Oh, by the way, mom and dad got a new truck.
And look, there's the little baby trailer.
They haven't seen your new truck yet.
I'm like, oh yeah, we got a new truck.
So they got a new truck and then this is us.
All right, let's go. It's hot.
Look, there's Maginot.
It's our favorite wiener.
That'll be here when we put a Maginot.
There's a giant wiener.
So there's also a Maginot bridge.
There's the giant bridge.
So I really want to take the dogs back to the island before snow.
I'm just saying.
I mean, it's going to happen quick.
I know.
We're pretty busy.
I know, but we can come up here in a day.
So I would like to bring them up here.
That's not a bad idea.
They changed the way that the boats go across from the island,
but we can still get off by like 6 o'clock.
I think there's still a 6 o'clock ferry.
Oh my gosh, they are in the water.
Well, I guess it is hot.
You people are crazy. That water's cold.
It looks pretty though.
We're crossing the bridge.
We got 5 hours left to get to our destination.
Not too bad.
You know, yesterday people were walking across this bridge.
Yes, how many? Hundreds of thousands?
I don't know, but a lot.
A lot of people walked across this bridge.
We were not any of those people.
No.
Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
I feel like it's been way too long
since we've come camping up here.
A little bit. Not too bad.
We've been up here this year though.
We have. It was just a couple months.
I love that sign.
But our favorite toll booth guy,
his name isn't Willie,
but our favorite toll booth guy
retired.
After like 30 years or something.
We gotta get a new favorite toll booth person.
I don't know.
I don't think anybody will.
Nobody will ever compare to him. He was the greatest.
What do you think, girls?
Is the air smell better up here, Kira?
She's like, oh my gosh, the air smells so much better up here.
We should move up here.
Maybe one day.
What do you think, sweetheart?
She's like, I'm just riding.
I'm just riding.
There's Lake Michigan.
This is always one of the prettiest parts
of the drive on US2.
Driving through the sand dunes here.
Looking at the lake.
All these people that you see here,
like we said, it's hot.
All these people that are parked on the side of the road
are probably over there in the water.
It's a hot one.
And then there's this cool hotel
that sometimes is covered in sand
in the spring because it blows around
and covers all their stuff.
Oh yeah, there's people in the water out there.
I think there's a few spots up here, right?
There's a couple spots.
We're just driving.
What do you think?
They're like, we're just napping.
There's Launch Bay.
The Bishop's up there somewhere.
Oh yeah, with the RV.
You probably didn't see it.
But there's the cool rocks.
So Baraga State Park,
which we've gone to many, many times,
is right around the corner here.
But we're going a little bit further.
But look, Jamie, there's actually rocks down here this time.
Yeah, you're right.
There's rocks.
The lake is lower.
I should have remembered that with Greg.
If you want to pick rocks,
we can actually do it in the water right there.
Holy angle, Dave.
Yeah, the little pull off.
We'll have to remember that next time.
Because sometimes we go into the town that's
back there.
Because I can walk right there the whole way.
They have big rocks.
But there's little tiny rocks
just like that far behind the big rocks.
Right, exactly.
And here's another spot where people are picking.
And we went in here as well,
but you can see there's only just a little bit of it
and then it disappears because of the big rocks.
I should have known.
We should have known we would just get in the water.
Well, I mean, not there though.
There it's kind of swampy.
Yeah, there's probably a lot of places where it gets swampy.
Look, we got fresh pears
from a little roadside fruit stand we stopped at.
And then I found cookie dough M&M's
and cookie dough Twix.
Oh my goodness, don't buy those.
Oh yeah, I got Twix too.
I didn't open that one.
The dogs are like, are we there yet?
Eleanor.
Hi.
She's like, I don't know.
And it's 87 degrees outside.
It did not cool off.
Yeah, it's 87 degrees outside and it's 520 at night.
So yeah.
We're almost at one of our favorite pizza places.
I know, our favorite pizza place.
This is still probably my favorite campground.
Even though it's the campground I despise the most,
I also love it the most.
It's like my favorite
yet not.
Bye Barraga.
I do love that campground.
Yeah, if we were staying there, we'd be there by now.
And it's really only an hour's drive
from here to where we're going.
Normally we would stay somewhere here
and then just drive the hour up here.
And if you're ever in Barraga,
Irene's Pizza.
Tellin' ya.
Best pizza in Barraga. I love it.
We try to get it every time we come through.
There's the drive-in.
They do have salads too.
But why would you get salad when you can get pizza?
And there's a casino, you know.
There is a casino that I've never been to.
What? No, you have.
No, I haven't. I've never been to this casino.
I haven't.
We do always skip it.
We always skip it.
But anyway, there's not really much in Barraga.
There's a new hotel.
There's some good hiking trails off the campground.
There's some great hiking trails off the campground.
There's a lot of cool stuff to see.
There's a couple cute little museums.
And I mean, it's kind of the gateway to the Kiva Nasa, you know.
Right at the edge.
But we got 47 more minutes to go
And we'll be at our campground.
Oh my goodness.
We have arrived at the campground.
The dogs are eating.
We've been here for about 30 minutes or so.
I'm sure you can hear I have the fan on.
I have the air conditioning on.
It's 89 degrees outside.
It's 89 out there.
Guess how hot it is in here?
Oh, 75.
It's 80.
In here.
Well, I turned the fan on.
I turned this on just high instead of auto.
And then you got the thing on the front.
I think that will help a lot.
Bring that temperature down.
Wow. Go jump in the lake.
I think we need to go down to the lake.
They need 30 minutes.
They just ate.
So we can maybe set up the Starlink.
Maybe see if it works.
And then I think we're going to the lake.
I think we're all getting in the water.
I don't necessarily want you girls wet.
But at this point in time, I don't care.
It's gonna be rain tomorrow.
And then it's gonna be nice.
It's gonna be good.
I haven't even shown them the campground yet.
But we got all the stuff done.
Oh my goodness!
That water is just pulling me.
Holy cow!
That water is like frigid cold.
The dogs are like,
This is the best part of the day.
Don't let them get too wet.
Because it's late.
I don't know.
Their paw is wet.
It's probably good enough.
Memphis is like,
Yeah!
I just live here now.
Yeah?
Is that the best?
Oh my goodness! Lake Superior water.
Yeah!
This water is so cold, it makes my feet feel numb.
It is.
Look at all the pretty rocks you guys.
There's so many.
It could be agate.
And ember lights.
Eleanor is like, I live here now.
You live there now?
This is the best spot in the whole wide planet.
I'm never leaving this spot ever.
Oh, dad found a rock.
Memphis is like,
Yes!
Yeah?
It's sucking the sand out from under your feet.
Woo!
The dogs are like, we want out.
We're like, we don't want out.
I might go deeper.
If you let me.
I can hold the dogs if you want to go deeper.
Probably.
There's so many pretty rocks.
I see them already.
So many pretty rocks.
Look at them all.
You can just pick here for days.
See any I should pick up?
You should have been here.
Woo!
They're like, we'll walk along the shore for a little bit.
Okay, good.
Yep, and then the shore ends.
We could be in the water though.
Sorry Dan, this is a weird clip.
But, we're overheated.
Look a teepee.
That's not gonna keep you cool either.
But it looks cool.
Take a few more years for some...
Whoa!
That's the rock I can never remember the name of.
But I collect all the little green ones.
That's a giant one.
No, probably not enough for a good teepee.
Not like Grand Marie.
Still, looks pretty cool.
Yeah.
So in front of Jamie there,
you can see,
that's where there used to be campsites there
and they fell into the water.
A couple of years ago.
The ice and stuff and the water got so high
and it just eroded the campground.
And quite a few of the sites fell right into the water.
Don't worry, we're not close to there.
Alright, Jamie's doing it.
September in Lake Superior.
It'll be brisk to start,
but now that I feel my feet in the water...
Yeah? You're going under?
I'm going to watch you squeal.
Oh, Eleanor's like, I want to go with dad!
Are you going under?
Come on!
You can do it.
I believe in you.
Not so hot anymore, is it?
You don't want to go under?
You don't have to.
I am peer pressuring you.
You don't have to.
I was going to say, it's Lake Superior
and I know it's cold.
What you guys don't understand about this water is like,
what? 52 degrees?
It's cold.
Eleanor's like, I want to go save dad.
That's what I want to do.
Memphis is like, maybe I want to go save dad too.
What about you? You want to go save dad?
She's like, no, I just want to play in the water.
Now, since the rocks won't move,
they should pour sand over them.
So, this is how they've stopped
a lot of the erosion.
Those rocks are gigantic.
I think if they just poured sand over them,
they'd turn to cement.
It is warm.
Jamie did not get completely wet.
He thought about it, and then he thought twice.
And he thought, no, maybe not.
We're sinking! Oh no, we're sinking!
Alright, we got some paws wet.
Made it back to the RV.
The AC has been cranking the whole time.
We've gotten it down to 77 in here.
Which is still way better than it is outside.
It's coming down.
It's coming down slowly.
We got this.
Oh my gosh, all I hear is fans in here.
Jamie is going to see my mom and dad
who are two sites down from us.
I think you guys are going rock picking.
Before it rains and before it gets dark.
Well, you want it to be dark, but...
I'm gonna...
I'm gonna crank this AC down in a few minutes.
Because we did finally get it to...
73 in here.
Which makes me much happier.
Yeah! Yeah!
Alright, you go look for rocks.
We might have a visitor coming down here for a little bit.
So, we'll find out in a minute.
Well, who came to visit?
Who came to visit?
I know, it's not quite the same
as being outside and playing.
So, you're gonna be loud.
You can't bark at her the whole time.
That's rude!
That's rude! You gotta be good!
They'll calm down after a few minutes.
She literally just walked in the door
when I started filming.
But, Indy is coming to hang out while they go pick rocks.
So, she don't have to be by herself.
It's so funny, after a few minutes the dogs are like...
OK, Kira is like, I found my spot.
Memphis is like, I found my spot.
Eleanor is like, I kinda still wanna play with you, but I'm not sure.
And Indy will settle in a minute.
I'll give her a minute.
Yeah, see? Good job!
Good job!
And if she doesn't, I do have her kennel.
She's really good at settling in her kennel.
What you think? I know, it's not the same as playing outside.
It's really not.
But, I didn't want Indy to be by herself
in my parents trailer.
I didn't think that was fair.
Plus, you know, you just never know.
I don't like leaving the dogs unattended in a trailer.
So, she can come hang out with us.
If you're bad, I'll put you in your kennel.
What you think?
Eleanor is like, she's kinda annoying sometimes.
So are you, ma'am!
I'm just saying!
Did you find a spot? She's like, this ain't too bad.
I like this spot. Memphis is on the couch.
Eleanor has now not figured out where she wants to be.
But, I'm sure she'll lay on the floor right there.
And Kira is already sound asleep in the bed.
Oh!
Back to play for a minute?
She's like, maybe not.
You gonna check out Memphis?
Maybe not.
Oh my goodness!
So, can you hear that?
The air conditioner is off.
I'm gonna take you outside in a minute.
I have a feeling, they're gonna come back pretty quick.
I don't know what's going on.
It's insanely windy all of a sudden.
It just got insanely windy.
I just ran down to my parents camper.
I made sure that they're...
I can't breathe.
I made sure that their mat was safe.
Ours is staked down. Theirs was not.
I stuffed it underneath the picnic table down there.
It's so windy. Hold on, let me show you.
This is gonna be really loud.
No joke!
It just came out of nowhere.
It's dark out here, so you're not gonna be able to see much.
But, you can hear it.
My parents camper is right there.
You can hear how windy it is.
I hope this doesn't last long.
That's pretty windy.
You can clearly hear...
Hi!
How hard it's raining.
I'm surprised they haven't pulled back in yet.
It's gotta be raining where they are.
They went like ten miles north of where I'm at.
I know.
And it is coming down out there.
Kira doesn't seem to care.
Memphis is a little bit...
See how she got the sideways ears on?
She's been doing this for a few minutes now.
So, I'm not sure how she feels about it.
It is a different noise.
Yes, and now you're making all the noise too, huh?
You didn't seem to care
until I stood up to start filming.
But, hopefully they'll all calm down here in a few minutes.
Would you leave her alone?
Leave her alone!
Alright, I guess we're gonna have to wait this out.
This was not what I was planning for tonight.
But, you know, it's how it is.
Did you hear that?
That was thunder.
I don't know if you guys heard it in the camera, but that was thunder.
So...
Memphis still has angry ears on.
She's like, I don't know how I feel
about this thunder and lightning.
Yeah, there was probably a couple of them
right over your head.
So loud!
As we were coming back,
I'm like, that was probably right over the campground.
Yeah, Indy did fine.
I mean, they all did fine, but Memphis
definitely, so far out of all of them, has been the one
kind of...
When we were out there on the beach, I should have filmed it
with my phone, but it was getting just to be
too dark where I thought it might not catch anything.
Right.
But, I should have done it anyway.
You could clearly see this black strip
of clouds out in the sky.
And then there's just lightning
out on the, you know, it's like five miles
out in the water.
And it's just spiking everywhere.
And I told your dad, I'm like, if you look hard enough
when it lightens, you can see that there's
big rain here and big rain here.
It rained here.
And then we were kind of watching that
big cloud get closer
and closer and closer
to the shore.
And we're like, okay, it's about time to go back.
And just as soon as I started heading back
it got like 30 miles an hour
wind. The temperature dropped
like 30 degrees, which wasn't
much because it was pretty warm.
Well, that's what happened here. And I went outside and I
shut the awning and I threw all the chairs that I could
underneath the camper.
Yeah, we're walking back on the beach
like this, holding my hat.
I ran down to mom and dad's
camper to try to...
There's more thunder.
To try and throw their
their mat underneath
and I'm like, hopefully it'll stay here
until you guys get back. Now it's underneath it.
Yeah, so did you find any rocks?
I found a couple. We didn't...
Like I said, we didn't have much time.
Yeah, you guys pretty much got there and it started raining.
A couple little, little ones.
That one's a pretty good one. Normal, normal.
This one just has a little bit
like where the white is.
And then this one only glows
where the white spots are.
Oh, where the quartz is.
So a couple, but not really...
Oh look, you got a light.
Oops.
Two little ones
before the rain ruined it for you.
Okay, it's getting muggy in here.
I gotta turn the A.C. back on.
Memphis is like, turn the A.C. back on.
Immediately.
Got my umbrella.
A little bit.
See you guys' camper over there.
You can see that light over there.
Looking right between the two.
I don't know if we're gonna get a good one.
So I don't know if you guys
will even be able to hear me with all the noise
still happening.
But we're into about two hours into this rain.
It's supposed to end
around 2 a.m. and it's about midnight now.
So we're gonna
just hope that it slows down
a little bit. Memphis was sound asleep.
She just woke up because I moved.
Oh, there's more thunder.
I can hear it. I can hear it.
And then there's Kira.
Who's like the happiest dog on the planet back there.
So we're gonna go ahead and go to bed
and call it a night and see what tomorrow
brings. It's always an adventure.
Gotta make the best of it.
Alright you guys, as always.
We hope you guys enjoyed today's video. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for subscribing. Stay positive. Dream big.
We will see you again soon.
Ready for snuggles?
Yeah, let's do some snuggles.
Goodnight Pawdience.
