The Edmonds Police Department is actively looking for the suspect who's considered "armed and dangerous," involved in a fatal shooting of a rideshare driver Wednesday night.
Well Eric and Molly investigators do say that this does appear to be random at
this point. It does not look like the victim knew the shooter and vice versa
and investigators say they just happened to cross paths in the street when the
shooting happened. This is a unique circumstance. This is not people that
knew each other or had history that we can tell. They just crossed paths and for
whatever reason this person decided to victimize this other individual. Multiple
drivers and witnesses in the area of 236th and Edmonds Way say they saw a
pedestrian crossing the street Wednesday night fire into a car as the
rideshare driver was making a left turn onto Edmonds Way, fatally wounding the
31 year old man inside. There was seven, what sounded like firecrackers
consistent 1-2-3-4-5-6-7. A neighbor we spoke with wanted to remain anonymous
but heard the gunshots. Then minutes later, emergency crews rushing to the
scene. There's an ambulance, there's about five cop cars. At that point they
were still scrambling around trying to figure out what was going on. Police
used drones and canines to try and track the shooter down but were not able to
find them. Investigators say the suspect should be considered armed and
dangerous. What happened in those like millisecond moments is still, we're
still trying to figure that out, but whatever happened didn't deserve the
outcome that it got, which was this person being brutally murdered. Police
say they recovered about 11 rounds and some video evidence. Officers are
canvassing the neighborhood, talking with witnesses and looking for any
surveillance video that might have captured what happened or the suspect in
the area. Do you go to the extent of buying a firearm just to protect
yourself? You know, it is getting to a stage where people are being, you know,
overreacting maybe, but it is a serious concern. And though police have
recovered some video evidence, they have not found any useful images to share
with the public yet, but they are asking residents who were in that area last
night around 10 o'clock again in the area of 236th and Edmonds way to go
ahead and check their cameras to see if they captured anything that might be
useful to investigators reporting live tonight in Edmonds land. When Kobo News.
