Armed suspect on the run after deadly Pierce County shootings

We begin with developing news. Two men killed in Pierce County, about 30 minutes apart. Right now, investigators are on the hunt for this 24 year old man. Pierce County Sheriff's investigators say they're trying to find Hayes McLeod, who's in a silver Toyota forerunner FOX 13's Dan Griffin joining us live from Pierce County as the search continues and people are grieving Dan. Well, and you said it, you know, both murders happened early this morning, sending deputies and officers to two separate scenes. We are told it's believed that this involved family members and that they were targeted. But tonight the search is on for an armed and dangerous man. I think it was two sets of three shots. It was like pop, pop, pop and there's a small delay and then pop, pop, pop. Yes, anybody inside makes up now an active search for 24 year old Hayes McLeod after neighbors like Paul Garcia heard the sound of gunshots in the darkness before sunrise. Pierce County investigators say they were called to Woodland Avenue East in Puyallup at about 2 40 in the morning Wednesday. They found a 35 year old man dead inside this home. Some neighbors say the sound of fireworks and parties often echo outside there into the night. I woke up, heard the gunshots. Uh, I actually heard the vehicle drive away. Then more gunshots at a second scene. We counted 17 Tacoma police responded to East D street just after three a.m. They found a man shot several times. He was pronounced dead. Tacoma police aren't making a connection right now, but Pierce County Sheriff's officials are. As we gathered more information about the TPD homicide as well, we started connecting dots. Investigators identified 24 year old McLeod as a person of interest, leading to a manhunt as he apparently drove away in the 1996 Toyota four runner. Pierce County officials believe the killings are targeted and involve people related to one another. I don't, I'm not like a family member. I can only imagine what goes through their mind. I mean, it must be horrible. Like this is like life changing for them. Now, investigators are warning people to be on the lookout for that silver Toyota four runner with Washington license plate CWW5132. Again, they do not know why these killings happened or who else could be in danger, but they're asking anyone to be out there on the lookout.
