The team also confirms Jesper Wallstedt will start in net for the third consecutive game, while maintaining a consistent lineup and balanced ice time across their offensive units.
The Minnesota Wilds have dropped multiple big updates ahead of tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres.
We have an update on Danilo Yurov after not practicing yesterday.
We have an update on his status for tonight's game.
As well, as Jesper Wall said, getting the net again.
We're going to be breaking that down, going over what this means for this team going forward as well.
That's how they are in a very good spot.
Folks, we have a lot to break down here in today's video.
But before we do get into it, if you haven't already, be sure to drop a sub here on the channel.
Closing in on 6,000 subscribers, your support's been incredible over the past couple of weeks.
And right now, we're in the midst of a huge part of the season.
We have videos coming out every single day and oftentimes multiple times a day.
So, if you want to stay up to date with everything going on with this Minnesota Wilds team, be sure to subscribe to the channel.
Now, I first want to take a look at Danilo Yurov.
His outlook has improved.
There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding tonight's game, whether he would play or not.
We now know that he will be in.
You see this right here.
And being a big part of this lineup, obviously.
With the middle of Maxim Shabanov and Kirill Kaprizov.
He was skating in the morning in Buffalo.
Left practice early yesterday.
And according to reports from John Heinz, that was indeed the plan.
Banged off during that game and really didn't know what the status was.
But when we came around to this morning, Yurov was testing some things.
And if he couldn't play, it was going to be Niko Sturm.
So, we saw both of those guys playing or taking some reps throughout practice.
And, as you all said, it starts.
Now, going into it, we do have the confirmation from Michael Russo of what the plan is going to be.
And we saw David Spacek with Niko Sturm at practice.
So, that indicates that Danilo Yurov is good to go.
And we didn't really know what the details were on this.
We weren't given any other information on it.
But it is going to be something to keep an eye on in tonight's game.
If we do end up seeing Danilo Yurov be a little bit slow or look like he has an ailment.
There could be a good chance we do end up seeing Niko Sturm.
Because, obviously, the earlier part of the season where we are now,
you're not going to play someone if they're not feeling the greatest.
You're not putting them in a position where you need to play them just yet.
It's so early.
So, something to keep an eye on here ahead of tonight's game.
But it is good that Danilo Yurov is in the lineup.
Because in his handful of games against Buffalo so far in his career,
he's been better than the majority of the NHL throughout the season.
And you see the last two meetings, 0.1 point per game average
and 0.5 point per game throughout the season pretty much.
So, it's going to be a good opportunity for Yurov to get another look
between Shabanov and Kaprizov.
Get that line more chemistry in.
A game that could very well be a high-scoring one if Wallstead is not on his team.
Knowing how good Buffalo is.
But with Wallstead, touching on him in just a few moments,
getting in net a third time in a row.
And I'm going to be pretty curious to see how many games he may actually go
before we do see Calvin Pickard, if at all, until Phillip Gustafson returns.
We're going to jump to that here in a moment.
Looking at the depth chart for tonight, as far as things look,
it's going to be the exact same lineup.
And we're looking at, yeah, right here on that, we're looking at here,
Blake Coleman, Eric Snek, Goldie, Kaprizov, Yurov, Shabanov,
Trenton Hart, Ring, Paulino, McCarron, Paulino, Hughson, Spurgeon,
Mata, and Brodine, and Damon Heintz.
That's a discussion with Wallstead in net.
The Lions have not done much juggling as of late, which is obviously a great time.
The team's playing good, and why do it?
But there's one thing to keep an eye on as well heading into tonight's game,
and that is to see if this team continues to use three.
Pretty much the offense all at an equal amount.
Now, we're seeing the first and second line,
obviously get more ice time than the fourth line,
but in these two games, we haven't really seen one line
kind of take over the ice time.
It's been pretty spread out because of how equally good this lineup has been.
And, you know, we haven't really seen an opportunity where there's been a need
to stack up a line and continue playing that line constantly,
so keep an eye on that as well heading into tonight.
Obviously, we're going to be doing that.
We're going to have updates on the game every single time that they play
as well as, you know, any updates and stuff,
so we'll have that all kept on tabs,
but looking at the offense and looking at the defense,
we're a lineup that's, you know, kind of mixed up, I guess,
especially on the defense.
They've been playing very, very well, and, you know,
bearing any injury to Zeligrov or any other center, really,
it does seem like the decision would be this.
Hartman moves with Kaprizov and Shabanov,
but Caron takes Hartman's spot on the third line,
and then Nicoskerm enters with the Polina brothers on the fourth.
So, you know, thoughts of any decision changes.
This is not just Yurov, but this is assuming that, really,
if any center member is injured,
you're going to see this kind of shift of everybody moves up one spot
unless Hartman would move up to that first line.
So, folks, give me your thoughts on this down below
because, you know, good thing that Yurov is not indeed injured.
He is, you know, good to go at least for tonight's game
from what it seems like.
Still do not have the actual lineup for tonight.
But what do you guys think about these kind of changes
if Yurov were to be hurt here or if he were to miss a game?
Let me know that down below.
But, again, heading into tonight's game,
it is Jesper Wahlstedt in the net,
and you see this here from the wild card.
He's been very good this season, 2-0,
a one-of-one goal against a 9-57 save percentage,
and every game that goes by
and every time we're really seeing his name be said,
the idea comes up in my mind
about what he said at the beginning of the season,
especially for this first month,
that he wants to be the guy that the Wilds can turn to.
He wants to be the guy that's in there every single day,
and, you know, he's getting the opportunity now
with the injury to Philip Gustafson,
and he's making the most of it.
We know the schedule is going to be pretty busy,
and we're going to see Jesper Wahlstedt
in quite a few games,
but so far throughout the season, he's been great,
and I do wonder what the jump is going to be
for him heading into this year
with the gameplay aspect of things.
Is he going to remain the number one goalie?
And I think this is another game tonight, you know,
where we're looking at a good team in Buffalo.
This is going to be another test
to be able to kind of make an assumption,
make an assessment on that,
make a guess, really, because we won't know for sure.
We've seen reports of, like we saw in yesterday's video,
reports of a trade that would involve
Philip Gustafson going elsewhere.
We've seen that throughout last season.
But if Wahlstedt continues to play the way he has,
it's going to be very difficult
to trade Jesper Wahlstedt
instead of Philip Gustafson.
So that is something that's all going to have
a big effect on this,
really kind of going forward with the net in this game.
But you see the plan for tonight,
Wahlstedt starts to pick it back up,
and third game of the season, so it's still only early.
You know, you're not going to get gas after this,
and Wahlstedt has been literally dialed
all 60 minutes he's played every single game,
and he's fighting for the spot to play in this net.
So you can see the few insights here
that we have from our in-house kind of overview.
So it's going to be a big game.
You know, every game is for not just the team,
but Wahlstedt as well, knowing how important
getting ahead in the Central is.
So give me your thoughts on that tonight, folks.
I mean, I mean, Buffalo, I'm like,
it's not going to be an easy challenge.
It's going to be a good one,
but 98th percentile in goal scoring,
Tate Thompson, pretty good shots on goal again,
Power play goals per game, 90th percentile in .3.
So, you know, even Tate Thompson FA
is what this team is really going to have to do,
but you still have guys like Rasta Stalin on that team
that are not going to be just an easy feat,
but we also have some players who have been pretty good
against the Sabres on this wild team.
Kirill Kaprizov pretty much sitting
at the exact same percentiles as Tate Thompson,
just a little bit better as we all expect him to be.
So the keys against Buffalo are going to be,
you know, very important here, limit Tate Thompson.
Avoid the penalties, you know,
Buffalo is very good at the power play as well,
just keeping the forward structure connected.
Monitor Europe's final status as well,
making sure that he is not going to be hurt.
So, folks, give me your thoughts on this here tonight,
down below.
What are you expecting from the Wilds?
What matters most, forward spiking
or another strong start from Walsed?
Give me your thoughts on that down below,
but I am signing out, so folks,
that's all I have for this one.
If you did enjoy, give it a like,
hit the sub button as well.
I am signing out.
Thank you for watching.
Hope you have a great day.
