Wild Drop Multiple CRUCIAL Updates... This Is Big | Minnesota Wild News

Minnesota Wild have dropped multiple updates
after some serious concerning looks in today's
skate where Kirill Kaprizov
and Quinn Hughes were both absent from practice.
We're going to be breaking down the updates we
do have from John Hynes as well as multiple
other updates from the injured players
and this team is currently trying to get back
into the lineup.
Folks, we will have to break down here in today's video.
Before we do get into it, if you haven't already,
be sure to drop a sub here on the channel.
We're closing in on 6,000 subscribers.
Your guy's support has been incredible.
I appreciate all you guys for tuning
in to these videos every single day.
And the news is not slowing down.
It's only picking up.
We have it all right here on the channel.
And I want to make sure you do not miss a beat.
So be sure to hit that subscribe button.
But we need to get into it.
Because when I saw this tweet earlier today, I was very nervous.
because we know how good Quinn Hughes
and Kirill were and still are to this team,
but especially over the last couple of games.
And you see this right here from Joe Smith.
John Hynes said Kirill Kaprizov was sick,
but he's expected to play Sunday.
Hughes was a rest day. He should be good to go.
Spurgeon and Foligno are not ready yet for tomorrow.
Sturm has a protocol test on Monday
to see if he can get back to action.
And Nick Foligno skated on his own, and Mada is not practicing.
So, looking at the big pile of these specific updates right here,
there isn't much good news to come out of it.
However, the updates from Kirill and Quinn Hughes and the reasons why
they are not skating is probably the best that it could have been.
And if Kirill's playing while sick, that's still fine.
Seems like it's not a major issue to this point, at least,
which is still, you know, very good news of a lot of news,
which, you know, it is tough to find some positivity out of.
But this Wild team knows, and I think this is something as well,
that they're going game by game with that.
We don't really know what the lineup
is going to look like every single day
because of these injuries.
And obviously, if we go back and look at it,
Foligno and Spurgeon are not just ready yet specifically for tomorrow.
That's not counting them out
in the next game after that or the day after,
but not ready yet.
Nico Sturm could very well
be back after Monday once he has that protocol test.
If he gets out of concussion protocol, another good return,
seeing how good he's been on the face-offs this year.
And Nick Foligno really doesn't seem
to have any update just yet whatsoever.
They did have a fundraising picture today on the ice.
He was out there in full gear, but did come off the ice afterwards,
didn't skate in this practice.
So it's going to be interesting to see what happens with him,
as well as Oli Mata,
not skating not practicing not really
the best news we could have gotten but you see this here
from John Hynes confirming what we've seen
in that tweet there from Joe Smith DeBrusk was sick
but he is expected to play Sunday whatever
the illness is it doesn't seem to be a stomach bug
which I think is probably the best result
because we know how kind of detrimental those can be
especially when they go around a team
and for a team that's already as injury plagued as the Wild are
this early in the season that's the last thing we need right now
and having that but on top of the
fact of how good Kirill has been 14 points
in eight games nine goals five assists I mean there's really
no emphasis on how much I can say about Kirill
and how important he's been to this team this year so
an illness now could very well
be a much better result than any illness you know come April come
May come you don't want to see that at that point
but even when you're generating shots from all
over the ice whatever happens make sure
that you're giving him the best option for rest the
best option for uh you know whatever we'll get him back
to the ice sooner i don't really care
what it is but good results i guess from these few updates
but as for Quinn Hughes John Hynes
quote that was just a rest day he should be good to go
and it's a much deserved one i mean we look
at Quinn Hughes as a player
who obviously on this team is going to eat up just over 50 percent of
the game usually a little under sitting around like 25 plus minutes
a game for Quinn Hughes
we've seen him have more before but for someone as well
who has been playing with Jared Spurgeon
not his usual partner Spurgeon gets hurt playing
with Jonas Brodin you know you need a guy like
him to step up and through eight games
this year he's got 12 points 10 assists two goals he has
been absolutely fantastic
and I think at this point right now again you need to make sure you're
keeping these guys healthy you're keeping them ready
to go for whatever instance whatever is
available to them because we can't really afford
to lose any other players at this point so you
know given how heavy of a workload Quinn, Kirill,
Matt Boldy have really all had so far if they need
a rest day you really have to give it to them
because you know you can't risk it and I mean
You're looking at this, well,
the ice time throughout the season, 32 minutes and 36 seconds
against Tampa was the most played,
with a 29-minute game, a 28-minute game, the least
of which being 22 minutes, so even then,
playing more than a period, and for Quinn Hughes,
that's actually quite a short game for him,
but I think it just goes to show, once again,
and highlight the importance that he has
to this team more than ever, especially right
now with how he's playing the injuries
but also his point streak and it is up to more than
five games he's got a point every game this right now
is just showing the last five but he is someone
that is going to continue being that guy for a while
so whatever situation is I think at any
point throughout the season we're going to expect
to see Quinn as much pressure on him I guess or as
much of a kind of exclamation point by his name
for this wild team whenever it does occur and
you're looking at the standings right now he's
a big part of where the wilds currently are
five two and one you're looking
at Utah six and two they play tonight they lose gives us a very good chance
to perhaps jump into first place tomorrow with the win
and you know looking at colorado seeing
what happened there as well
but regarding those two some positive news which is good so it looks
like they're going to be playing
but as for Jared Spurgeon this is what John Hines said Spurgeon
Foligno we're not yet ready for tomorrow
and you're looking at the defense depleted as it is
you have Määttä out you have Spurgeon out you have Bogosian moved up
the second line Daylon Hunt
Matt Grzelcyk David Spachek it
is very very tight right now about where these players are the
injuries the time on ice
so so needing to get these guys back is one thing but also managing
the other players that are currently still in the lineup is another
and for Spurgeon he's played
very very good this season as well five points in six games
and he is someone that alongside Quinn
Hughes really looked good
and I mean you're seeing like we saw the other day the first five games
of the season is the first time in NHL history
that your first pairing both had five game points
so that alone I think is one thing that you can look
at I mean it doesn't seem crazy but considering
it's the first time it happened in NHL history i think it goes
to show how important your you know
your top dogs are for this wild team
and on top of that Hardman he's had quite a few blocked a
lot blocking a lot of shots you know Spurgeon being physical
as much as he can he is going to
continue doing that and the fact that he's out right now
is certainly another huge loss but you
see this as well these are the updates once again
highlighting them pretty pretty much better for
you as well keep in mind as well Brock Faber does have
a update this week this coming week with the
doctor to get an update on what could be the next steps
not necessarily a possible return date but
he will be someone that once he makes his debut this season
and hope it is sometime in you know
the next month or so just because i'm going to see
a game live want to watch him play but obviously
health is priority not because i'm in the building
but on top of that one more update before here
Sturm has the protocol test Monday to see if he can
be back in action this one comes from John
Hines but the jump is fine throughout the middle
but the biggest thing is you're looking how good
Nico Sturm has been on the faceoff job this year
and I don't care if Nico Sturm plays five minutes
time on ice again 10 minutes you want a faceoff win
the biggest thing is you can have confidence
in putting him out there that to me is what matters most
so getting him back ASAP as well
I want to see it as soon as we can
so that is one thing to keep in mind as well coming up here so
We're going to have multiple more updates over the coming days.
And I mean, we're looking at how this team has played,
how busy this team has been.
It's all kind of putting a little bit
of a nervous kind of idea for me watching these
games, knowing how big of an injury risk,
I guess, everything is at this point.
So folks, give me your thoughts on this.
You know, so far, we got a bit of good news today,
some updates, and we're going to have
more over the coming days.
So if you want to stay up to date with everything going
on with this wild team, be sure to drop
a sub here on the channel.
i'll have everything as it does come out
but that is all i have here in this video if you did enjoy
give it a like hit the sub button as well i'm signing out thank you
for watching hope you have a great day
