Election 2026: Democratic, Republican leaders in Columbus, GA talk about midterm elections
Nov 3, 2026
Issues that are concerning on your mind.
Thank
The economy.
Yeah, the economy.
Absolutely.
The affordability is ridiculous.
In Columbus, the cost of living, housing, it's just through the roof.
One of the biggest things was Halloween candy.
Trying to purchase candy just the other day
for kids to just come by the house.
And I'm thinking $80 for a few bags of candy.
It
It was ridiculous.
So the economy is number one for me.
was
And do you talk to your poll workers? Are they having a fun time?
Is there any kind of upset or anything of note?
No, I'm really close with the Board of Elections,
so typically if something's going on, they may communicate with me.
I haven't heard from them today,
so that means all is well. Quietness is good.
I have a poll manager, Rick Parker. He's been doing this for years.
He has it pretty much under control,
so I haven't heard anything at all.
So I'm checking in in just a little bit to make sure.
That the board of election knows that I'm paying attention
and whatnot and make sure that I'm here
because I just haven't heard from them today.
And do you think the rain is inhibiting anybody?
You know, I don't think so.
I think the early voting has been phenomenal.
Of course, we broke records here in our county and across the country.
Thank you.
As a total, we've broken records.
So I don't think the weather is going to hinder anybody.
People are desperate to see some change.
And so I think people are going to push through the weather.
I'm Amy Hatfield.
And I'm the president of the Republican Women
of Muskogee and Harris County.
Okay.
And so we are out here.
Encouraging people to vote today.
Okay, and you're holding a sign.
Who are you campaigning for?
I'm campaigning really basically for all Republicans.
And so I've got a vote today sign right now.
I've got Carmen Rice, House 139.
And then we've got Brian Jack, Vance Smith,
Randy Robertson are all for the local area here.
And then, of course, we've got Mike Collins, Rick Jackson.
And then we've got Tolbert, Dolezal, Woods.
So we've got a whole bunch. We want you
to vote a straight Republican ticket.
How did you get involved with the campaign or volunteering?
I have been an active conservative for quite some time.
I'm a member of the Muskogee County Republican Party
and then was a member of the Republican Women
of Muskogee in Harris County
and it has been my privilege to be the president of that organization.
I'm in my second term.
Okay, and what issues are most important
to you in voting today in the midterms?
Keeping the momentum going
and building our economy and staying the course.
Okay, well thank you so much for talking with me.
