Nov 3, 2026
If you're voting in Charlotte today,
here's your last-minute election day guide to get in, get out,
and get it right, pulled directly from our live coverage.
The one deadline that matters is 7:30 p.m.
If you are physically in line when the doors close,
stay put, you can still cast a ballot.
Your polling place is directly tied to your address,
and it may not be the closest one.
Look up yours and confirm which district
you're in using this lookup tool.
A few things to know before you head out.
Most people are not going to be able to register today.
If your situation is complicated,
look it up before driving to a precinct hoping to sign up on the spot.
Six referendum questions sit on your Charlotte area ballot.
There are three that could amend the North Carolina Constitution.
They touch on income tax rates,
voter identification requirements, and a...
property tax levy limit.
Charlotte Mayor Rob Harrington is urging a yes vote on the city's
$425 million bond package.
If you need another shortcut, if you haven't had time to research
every race and referendum,
the Charlotte Observer editorial board has published its endorsements,
a quick way to see how our board sized up each contest
and make faster decisions in the booth.
Finally, if you've seen a social media post claiming
that if an election worker writes on
your ballot, then it's invalid, that's false.
The Mecklenburg County Board of Elections has stated
the poll workers do write on these ballots as required by law.
If something does look off at your precinct,
ask a poll worker before you leave.
If you have a question, concern,
or tip about how things are going at your precinct,
please email the Charlotte Newsroom
