Three of the four victims killed during a series
of shootings in Deep Ellum Halloween night have
been identified. 21-year-old Kenesha Scott,
28-year-old Unique Elise, and 25-year-old Anthony
McCleary were among those killed.
And today, federal officials announced a new safety initiative
in Deep Ellum to provide more law
enforcement officers in that district.
But tonight, there are still a few clues about the shooters
who opened fire on those people out enjoying the night.
Fox 4's David Centendri spoke to a witness
who did capture some of the violence.
And David, it was all over social media and really tough to watch
and to listen to when you hear the gunshots.
Very difficult to watch, very difficult to listen to.
Some of that video we're going to let play for at least 30 seconds
as you continuously hear that gunfire ringing out.
It was recorded by a local content creator who I spoke with.
He was just out there in Deep Ellum on Halloween recording video
for his social media accounts. And then within a matter of seconds,
he was dodging bullets, hiding for his life.
Cell phone video shows vehicles taking over
a Deep Ellum intersection on Halloween.
Then a crowd frantically runs for cover
as countless gunshots are fired for unknown reasons.
I was trying to move out the way and everybody start running.
But as you start running, bullets coming from different angles.
So it's like you don't want to run the wrong way
and accidentally get hit.
So it's like, let me just squat down with everybody else,
you know what I'm saying, for a moment.
Monrello Johnson was recording this video of the gathering,
not knowing he'd soon capture one
of the scariest shootouts Deep Ellum has ever seen.
I just like prayed like, man, hopefully I don't get hit by,
you know what I mean, a straight bullet.
Ashley Martin was not there.
And I just dropped down to my knees and I was like, what happened?
But that was her reaction when realizing her brother,
25-year-old Anthony McCleary was one of four people killed.
She believes he was an innocent bystander.
And I really want to know what happened.
He's not no gangbanger.
He's not in the streets.
Fifteen others were wounded in three shootings
in a span of less than two hours.
On Monday, the Department of Justice announcing uniformed
and undercover federal agents
will now assist Dallas police with patrolling Deep Ellum.
We will not accept this as normal.
None of us will.
We will cover every inch of Deep Ellum with law enforcement.
The DOJ announcing a federal charge
of unlawful possession of a firearm for Travion Demby,
who's been convicted of aggravated robbery four times
and was on parole when police spotted him
allegedly flashing a gun in Deep Ellum
on Halloween before running from officers.
Officials, however, did not give any indication
that Demby has connections to the shootings.
It's just another reported crime
from that evening as Dallas police still
Still work to identify the shooters.
We do have some tips.
We do have some leads on some suspects
and we are looking into them right now.
Until that happens,
loved ones of victims have unanswered questions.
We are literally biting our nails right now
because we need to know what happened.
And surviving witnesses like Johnson.
It's like one of them situations
where it kind of like make you want to go
to a different place.
Believes something needs to change
long-term in Deep Ellum.
Where too many young people regularly show up with guns.
This is every weekend type of thing.
It just haven't got out of hand like
this in so long, you know what I'm saying?
But they out there every weekend, yeah.
And we know investigators are canvassing businesses
in Deep Ellum for a surveillance video
just to try to put together some
of these pieces and lead to some arrests.
We also know there are flock cameras in that area.
Of course, if you have any information
about what happened, who's responsible,
you can contact Dallas Police Department.
Heather.
Steve, back to y'all.

on the shootings as all that information becomes available.
