Both teams enter the game following impressive victories, but the Falcons aim to capitalize on the Buccaneers' winless home record this season to improve their standing and move toward a .500 record.
But I want to look.
Ahead to our Atlanta Falcons, the Buccaneers,
they are taking on today in Tampa Bay at 1 p.m.
Our Olivia Whitmire is there on the field there.
Olivia, walk us through, what do they need to do?
How is Tampa Bay doing so far this year?
We really need some sort of a win before this weekend is over.
Thank you.
You're so right, Eric. I know the Georgia Bulldogs did get
a victory over the Florida Gators yesterday,
so that's a highlight for our Georgia sports.
But yeah, I know you mentioned in between,
Just a bunch, but what an incredible season for them.
The Falcons looking to continue on on a hot streak.
They took down the San Francisco 49ers last weekend,
handing San Francisco their first loss of the season last weekend.
And we're looking to keep this thing
going against the Bucs this afternoon.
Like you mentioned, we are here
in the Tampa Bay area for that NFC South showdown.
And hey, the Bucs, they're coming off
a really impressive victory of their own.
They beat the Carolina Panthers last week by 30.
So both teams coming off impressive performance.
Last weekend, of course,
we're hoping that the Falcons stay hot in this one.
Now, a note, the Bucs have yet to win a game at home this season.
They are 0-4 inside Raymond James Stadium this year.
The Falcons were 2-1 on the road,
so we've gone into some tough environments and come out with a win.
So we're hoping the Falcons can do that today.
We've got a few of the players out here on the field warming up
as we get ready for that 1 o'clock kickoff.
Like you mentioned, just some of the players out here.
We've got Zachariah Brand, some of the special teams guys.
Guys warming up and getting ready for this game.
A few inactives that I want to point out for you guys.
Running back Brian Robinson Jr.
Not to be confused with Faison.
Brian Robinson has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bucs.
Second straight game that he's missing due to a hamstring injury.
And the Falcons are also going
to be without defensive back Billy Bowman Jr.
and linebacker Devine Diablo.
Both of those guys missed last week's
game against San Francisco as well.
Hopefully we can get them back on the field soon.
Now lots of family on.
On hand today for QB1, Michael Penix Jr.
Michael, he went to high school
at Tampa Bay Technical just about 10 miles away from Raymond
James Stadium, so he's going to have a bunch of friends
and family here cheering him on.
The NFC Offensive Player of the Week,
Michael Penix Jr., looking to build off another strong
performance.
He had one of the best of his career against
the 49ers last weekend, so we're hoping to
see him do well again today.
And Florida man Kyle Pitts,
he really knows how to show up against the Bucs, the former
Florida Gator.
He's had a lot of fun.
We've had over 600 yards in eight games against the Bucs.
He had three touchdowns here at Raymond James Stadium
when we played the Bucs for Thursday Night Football last season.
So we'll look to see if Kyle Pitts can have a great game today.
But hopefully, we're hoping the rain can stay away
from us here at Raymond James Stadium.
The humidity and the heat is out in full force.
I saw Kyle Pitts warming up with a beanie on, and I'm just like,
Kyle, do you realize...
But it's 80 degrees in Florida.
I don't really think we needed the beanie today.
But you know what?
It's all about fashion with the Falcons sometimes.
And he was rocking the beanie.
And we'll look to see if he can rock it
on the field as well as the rest of the Falcons.
Try to get 500 on this season and take first place in the NFC South.
So we'll look to see if the Falcons can get a win.
And, you know, sorry, I'm like out of breath over here.
The humidity is really getting to me.
I need to hydrate a little bit over here.
Losing my train of thought.
But we're looking to see if the Falcons can get to 500.
Pick up that second divisional win of this season so far, Eric.
We're looking forward to it.
All right, Olivia.
I also have just been over here jamming
to the music that's been playing behind you,
getting the crowd hype and everything like that.
All right, Falcons take on Tampa Bay.
Buccaneers, 1 o'clock.
We appreciate you.
I know you and the sports team will
have us covered in Dirty Birds as well.
All right, so hopefully they can bring home a win.
We really do need it.
This comes after we're raking up
to a harsh reality that our Atlanta dream.
Unfortunately, did not win that championship last night against
the Golden State Valkyries,
even though, you know, next year,
there is next year, they had a phenomenal season.
