Hey everyone, welcome back.
Happy Halloween.
Yeah, we got some spooky weather actually moving
in later on tonight into tomorrow's Sunday.
But we want to prepare you, not scare you,
because we are tracking very heavy amounts of rain.
Right now, light to moderate in parts
of the valley and parts of the state.
We got cloudy conditions.
That's going to continue on for tonight.
75 degrees, though, out in Phoenix.
Winds on the lighter end,
but they could pick up because we are tracking a very potent system.
Multiple, that's going to be bringing us as we head.
As I mentioned earlier, a widespread active rain event.
Temperatures right now on the topic of that,
you saw that 75 here in Phoenix, 60s in Sedona, 51 in Flagstaff,
70s out in Bullhead City, 58 for our friends in Globe.
Today, temperature is not too bad,
still below average at 79 degrees, the norm sitting in the 80s.
And we'll take a look at that 10-day forecast.
It looks as though we're going to hold
on to those 70-degree temperature readings,
and we are certainly going to be holding on to the rain.
Now becoming more widespread.
But across the valley, towards the West Valley in particular,
really starting to pick up some steam when it comes to those storms.
So be prepared for some brief and heavy downpours of rain
that's coming in from the south, trekking up north.
So I mentioned before, make sure you have that umbrella handy,
especially as those kiddos are going to be out
and about and trick-or-treating.
We've got some bands along the 10 that are a little bit heavier
in nature, a little bit more isolated.
So any pockets of red, that indicates
to us some pretty strong storms developing.
And we had some pretty strong storms yesterday
that caused some big flood concerns across parts of the valley.
Here's a look at some of our rain totals according
to Maricopa County Flood Control District,
where a lot of us picked up anywhere between half
of an inch to close to an inch near Scottsdale,
Cave Creek in particular, where we are under multiple.
Multiple flash flood warnings and advisories,
but right now we're tracking our next potent weather system.
It looks as though our weather graphic has stalled a little bit,
but we do have some lows to the northwest and to the southwest
that is going to be bringing us what we call an atmospheric river.
When we throw that term for you folks, that means that we're looking
at a lot of rain and that's something that we're already tracking.
The models are now pushing for an earlier start to the rain tonight.
Some heavier bands, very isolated in nature,
that's going to lift up north and east.
It looks as though by 11 o'clock here across the valley we
could get just a little bit of a break in between systems.
But right now, as we head into Sunday early morning,
that's 2 a.m., just about, very heavy,
consistent showers that are just going to last us throughout the day.
It looks as though by 7 o'clock, heading into the late evening hours,
we'll start to see that system push further east.
That's not only bringing us some rain,
but even some heavy, high-elevation snow up north.
This is a pretty fast,
quick-moving system so that by Monday, that's 8 a.m.
It's like nothing ever happened,
but a lot's going to be happening and we could also see
the threats of more flooding across the valley.
Some of us a little bit more severe if you're
just joining us. We got to show you this.
We got multiple risks when it comes to numerous
flash flooding here across, in particular,
Gila County, where all of the county is looking at
the threat for some very heavy rain.
All those areas you see highlighted in red. And just to
Just to paint that picture for you,
the models right now are showing could be less, could
Could be more near Payson, for example,
up to five inches of rain here across Phoenix, up to two Prescott,
over two and a half near Flagstaff, three inches in total.
So we're talking a lot of rain.
And look, we love to see the rain, right,
especially when it comes to drought conditions,
which, by the way, things are looking pretty solid.
None of the state is under exceptional or extreme drought.
A lot of the rain that we've picked up this year
so far has definitely helped with those drought conditions,
but probably not going to be helping when it comes
to maneuvering around town and just some safety concerns that we have.
Tonight, temperatures dropping down into the 60s
at 65 degrees here in Phoenix, 70s for tomorrow.
And taking a look at that 10-day forecast,
looking at rain all day for your Sunday.
And then after that, things are looking much quieter with sunshine
We'll
be
right
and
70s.
