And welcome back to Fox 5 News Live at 11 a.m.
The time right now, 11:21 on this Friday morning.
Let's talk about game six of the WNBA finals.
Some people were in Atlanta calling it brunch and basketball,
and that's because tip-off was at 12:30.
Considering the time change for the Golden State Valkyries,
it was breakfast and basketball.
But despite yesterday's early 12:30 tip-off,
the crowd showed up and showed out.
Take a look.
Today off from work, so this is a vacation day for me.
I'm legitimately here.
Sorry, Miss Diamond.
It's crazy.
That's what you get when you come to Atlanta.
You get some real support, whether you got a job or not.
We climbing.
We dreaming big.
Yeah, look at the rally towel right there.
Atlanta forced a game seven with an 80-69 win over Golden State.
And tomorrow, it's winner take all in San Fran.
Brenda Helms is back to talk with us about the Atlanta Dream.
And you know what?
She's dreaming big because you were there yesterday.
You got to see this.
I could just imagine that the atmosphere inside
of State Farm Arena was electric.
A sold-out crowd.
Yeah.
Yeah. So I'm not sure those of you who are watching on TV,
if you could hear how loud it was when I tell you it
was the loudest I have ever heard.
Like the fans were cheering. No, no, seriously.
The fans were cheering. They were never sitting down.
They including me, like we saw earlier, we had our rally towels.
If you were on the baselines,
you had clappers like it was just a phenomenal atmosphere.
And I'm so glad they got the win. Do you think
that played a role? Yes, absolutely.
Absolutely.
I feel like because the energy was top
top notch from tip off that got the girls going
and they made shots like crazy from
the time that we started the game all the way until
the buzzer ended at the fourth quarter.
I know there was some talk yesterday.
There was supposed to be T-shirts on each chair,
but there were rally towels instead.
They got the T-shirts as you were heading out,
kind of like a victory souvenir.
Right, right.
And I actually think some of the fans appreciated
that because you got to wear your own outfits.
I know some people plan their shoes and they get up around having the
in the shirts on the seats, but that was okay.
We got the towels, some of us got the clappers,
and then at the end of the game, as you were heading out,
you could get your shirts,
and they'll be a great souvenir for when we hopefully
win Game Seven, you can wear it to the parade.
Yeah, that would be nice.
Obviously, I know you're important and all that,
but there were a lot of big faces there.
Wanda Sykes was there, I saw.
Yes, we had Wanda Sykes, we had Usher,
we had T-Pain performing at halftime.
During a time out, we also had Young Dro,
We had actress Gayle Beauchamp-
We also had other actors and other,
you know, big names from Atlanta.
Of course, the mayor was there.
He was, like, cheering the entire game.
There were so many people there.
And you wouldn't even think that it was a Thursday in the afternoon
because so many people were there.
And so I think we have some video.
The Hawks had sent us basically how
quickly they had to transition this.
Yeah.
I haven't got a chance to look at it,
so I'm watching it with you for the first time.
Yeah, so...
Basically, on Wednesday, the Hawks played the Miami Heat,
and then Thursday afternoon, of course, there was a 12.30 tip-off
for the Dream, so they had to quickly change the floor for that,
but then they rushed us out of the arena because the Hawks
then played at 8 o'clock last night against the Cavaliers.
So just a quick turnaround, you know,
making sure that everything was clean, that there was food and the fact
that State Farm has just been booming for the past two weeks
because of such great things happening in Atlanta is really
Really awesome.
The arena folks got put to work over the last about 36 hours.
Earned their paycheck for sure.
Shout out to them, for real.
So let's talk about the Atlanta Dream real quick.
So tomorrow, San Francisco, game seven.
It is do or die for both teams.
What has to go right on the court for us to be able to get the victory,
the Atlanta Dream, to walk out with that trophy?
Yeah, so...
Come out the same way they did in game six, right, Tyler?
Make those shots early.
Play defense.
Stop them from scoring.
It's going to be another loud crowd out in San Francisco.
They call their arena Bahala.
Bahala is going to be screaming just like we were in State Farm,
but I think because they are so used to that huge crowd,
I think our ladies will be fine,
but they have to keep that defensive mentality.
They have to make shots early the same way they did,
have that gap early,
and that way it's harder for them to try and catch up
and not come out on top.
But we really, really, really, really want them to win Game 7.
Seven, I'm actually.
Attempting to try and go.
I was about to ask that and you were telling me.
Yes, yes.
So I actually, look, I have a flight credit that I'm like,
hmm, this might be worth it to use for that.
So I'm thinking about going.
And if I do go, I'm going to make sure to be on social media.
If you hurry up, you can join Victor.
He's on a 2 o'clock flight.
Yes, and that's what I was going to say.
We will have our High Five Sports team out there.
Victor will be there.
So we'll have coverage either way.
But so excited and really hope that our girls can pull this out.
And I hope you get the chance to go out there.
That would be a fun memory.
Fingers crossed.
Especially in a Game 7, a victory.
Do it in 7.
I know, dream in seven for sure.
Brandon Helms, thank you so much for joining us.
Thank you for breaking it down for us.
So let's take a live look at State Farm Arena if we could.
Obviously, we're not going to have another match here,
game here for the Atlanta Dream until next season,
but that is where they're going to be moving to
as they continue on into,
as they continue to soar even higher
because the Atlanta Dream are just our pride and joy right now
as they head to game seven of the WNBA finals.
