Dignitaries will be here in Atlanta for a G20 meeting.
It's a meeting of foreign ministries,
U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio,
and his counterparts will be included in the G20 nations.
Yeah, this will take place at the Lowe's Atlanta Hotel.
At Good Day, Larry Spruill is there in Midtown right now.
So, Larry, we know what this means.
A lot of dignitaries in town.
There's going to be a lot of traffic, right?
Good morning, Paul and Justina. Yes, you hit it right on the nail.
A lot of traffic and a lot of road closures. Take a look behind me.
You can see that they already have this area blocked off this morning.
Now the G20 summit will invade Midtown Atlanta
this weekend starting today. But also, what is this meeting all about?
What will they talk about and how will this meeting affect Atlanta?
Well, preparations have already started for the G20 summit
or the meeting of the world minds, federal,
state and local agencies are here to make sure this meeting is safe
and secure for the world leaders.
The top diplomats from the group of 20 largest world economies,
including leaders from Russia, Russia
and China are meeting at the Lowe's Atlanta Hotel here in Midtown.
Topics of discussion are deep rifts over multiple wars
and other global crises that threaten international
Security and trade, but with the eyes of the world focused right here
on Atlanta, that means road closures and a lot of traffic.
Now, according to Atlanta Department of Transportation, Juniper Street
is shut down between 13th and 11th and both 11th and 12th streets
are also closed between Peachtree Street and Peabody Avenue.
We talked to some midtown neighbors about this weekend.
I just found out three days. Yeah, it's going to be like this.
So I can only get to my condo via certain streets around here.
It's insane. Thank goodness I can walk.
I just don't know how people are getting around this weekend.
Big game, Halloween, beautiful days at the park.
We already have traffic issues. Keep it in DC.
And you heard it right there.
Of course there is the G20 summit,
but there are a lot of other big
events that will be happening
in our city of Atlanta.
We're talking about the big
Georgia versus Florida game and
also a lot of Halloween festivities.
So if you are out and about this weekend,
you might want to take your time and plan ahead.
We are live in Midtown Atlanta this morning.
I'm Larry Spruill for Good Day Atlanta.
Yeah, maybe just stay in and watch
scary movies for Halloween.
Alright Larry, thank you very much.
