There is a lot of heat on Lincoln Riley.
Lincoln Riley was asked, you're in year five.
You have yet to take this team to the playoffs.
You have yet to win a conference title.
So he goes out of his way to talk to the fans
at his press conference yesterday about Ohio
State saying, quote, I love it here.
I mean, like I told you guys a lot of times,
there's not many people in college football
history that gave up what I gave up to come here.
Here's the problem, dude. No one gives a flying
bleep about what you gave up to go to Southern California.
USC is the university of spoiled
children. Do you understand what USC thinks about themselves?
Hold on. I don't care if it's 15 years
down the line that never should be taken lightly.
They don't care. It's certainly not taken lightly
by me i came here because i believe in this place
and none of that has changed whatsoever here's the
problem for Lincoln Riley they don't believe
in you you can believe in the place all you want
but you have done nothing with all the resources
that Southern California gives to you the
recruiting base the fan base the money the history
the alumni the university of spoiled children do
not care where you came from you are lucky
to be the head coach of Southern California of the
Trojans that's their take and they not and they're now
not sure that after this season you should be
the head coach why because Bob Chesney is blowing
your life up dude in your same city there's a guy
in year one, who has his team ranked in the top 10,
they're undefeated, and they are going to be
a problem for you because your rival is doing it quicker
and better than you, Lincoln Riley.
So no one cares where you were. No one cares what you gave up.
Nobody cares that you should not
put that down you should not take that lightly that i gave up
so much to come to Southern
California nobody cares like what are you doing talking about
that at anything else it should be
an apology you haven't even sniffed a conference championship
or a national championship or a
playoff berth at USC you can't win away
from home you can win home games but you can't win away
from home you can't win on the East Coast it's well documented
so now you have a quarterback i
like Maiva i like a lot he's from UNLV he
was great at UNLV he's been good at USC they have
all these young talented freshmen right he went
the freshman route he went the old school
recruiting route and these kids are starting
to play really well i i was really surprised
that Lincoln Riley went down that road
to basically tell USC fans you're lucky to have me
i gave up so much to come here oh boy buddy uh-uh
your resume does not let you talk like that
you're in the spot of Pete Carroll okay you're
in the spot where Fight On is looking at rings
in championships and again UCLA did it pretty damn fast you're
in year five dude he better
beat Ohio State that's all i gotta say about
Lincoln Riley he better beat Ohio State you're
at home the Buckeyes have a backup quarterback making
his first start on the road you better beat Ohio
State if you lose to Ohio State coming off a bye
and you're USC at home you got a night game you
got a coliseum that will be completely full
and sold out boy oh boy if you don't win this game
you're Lincoln Riley, I don't know what
to tell you man, you may not be there next year, it's I mean
you have a huge buyout. I get it. USC doesn't care.
If money fixes an ill, USC is going to fix
it. It's the one thing that they can deal with.
It's like Notre Dame, right? Talking about alumni
and fan bases that will pay to get themselves out of any problem
or mistake that may have been made.
And they won't like it, but they will write
the check to get rid of you if they need to.
I really hate to say he's coaching for his job,
but it really feels like Lincoln Riley is coaching
for his job coming up here against Ohio State
because the schedule doesn't get easier for
Ohio for USC and then they've got UCLA like
if you lose this game at home to the Buckeyes
without their starting quarterback you're going
to go at Indiana next week you're going
to beat Indiana, you lost at home to Ohio State, you're going
to lose to Indiana and then you're
on the road at UCLA
to end the year.
Uh-oh.
You're currently 6-2.
That's five losses.
You're going to go 7-5?
Goodbye.
