Breece Hall Trade Talks Intensifying...
Oct 29, 2026
All signs point to this.
Breece Hall, longtime Jets running back and NFL star,
is on his way out of New York
as the team continues to falter
and Braylon Allen continues to establish himself
as a viable RB1 in Breece Hall's absence.
What's going on, guys? I'm Josh Byrne. You're tuned in to Jets Digest.
Guys, thank you so much for all the continued support.
This has been a very disappointing start to the New York Jets season.
We all wanted them to take a massive leap forward
in the second year of Aaron Glenn.
And after losing out in what feels like
the absolute low point of this season so far
and low point of Aaron Glenn's tenure thus far,
it seems like this is not going to be the kind
of campaign that we all rooted for.
But thank you guys for nonetheless sticking with me and Chris Gallagher
as we provide you with all the Daily Jets updates.
Now, we heard some things about Garrett Wilson.
He spoke to the media today.
We'll get more into that.
But to me, what makes the most sense for the New York Jets right now
in terms of trading off their assets is trading off Brees Hall,
and I believe this team needs to do it.
It doesn't enlighten me.
It doesn't give me, like, joy to say it,
but the Jets need to sell at 2-5.
The reality is they will not be in the playoffs
for the 16th consecutive season.
It is ridiculous, but that's just the way we're heading.
You look at the calendar, the schedule ahead.
It doesn't really get that much easier for the team.
I mean, when you look at the schedule,
yes, they just lost to the Miami Dolphins
who came in not having a lead at any point this season.
And yes, they're playing a winnable game this week,
but what even does that mean?
Then they face the Chiefs and Bills.
The Chargers, I know, are a disaster this year.
But guys, it's going to be hard for the New York Jets to come away
with more than six wins especially after losing to fall to two
and five and you have a guy in
Braylon Allen that has shown that he can
be a productive running back he's been one of the most
productive running backs in the weeks
in which Breece Hall has been dealing with his injury and
so you combine that with the lucrative contract
that Breece Hall was given in the offseason and
unfortunately I do believe that it
is in the best interest of the New York Jets organization
to pursue a trade of their running back, a veteran running back,
which is crazy to say because it feels
like Brees just entered the league.
So it's up to you guys.
I ask you, at 2-5, what should the Jets prioritize,
selling veterans for a draft pick or keeping the core together?
And for me, I'd love to keep the young core together,
but you look at guys like Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson,
who we'll talk more later about in the week,
and it just makes more sense to look to trade them
and compile assets.
The Jets already have a ton of draft capital
and it looks like they're about to add more.
And this is going to be what, you know,
very well could be an appealing destination
for the next New York Jets head coach
who is now forecast to be the most likely head coach
to be fired next.
And that's according to Kalshi
where you can let your voice heard.
And on Kalshi, you're trading directly against other users,
not the house like traditional sportsbooks.
You're buying yes or no on contracts.
on the outcomes of events across sports,
politics, or even the weather outside.
So if you don't believe the weather guy,
and they're saying rain, you can trade on sunny.
And unfortunately, haven't
been too many sunny days for the New York Jets.
But if you're interested in trying out Kalshi,
you can use the link in the description and pin comment.

dollars so first of all let's give a huge shout out to Braylon Allen
because it is so easy to
be negative about the New York Jets right now
and I understand that but part of the reason that I
believe it is in the best interest of the New York Jets
to pursue a Brees Hall trade is because
Braylon Allen has been excellent I've always liked
him since you know he debuted a couple years ago
as a rookie but this has been the most extended amount
of time we've been able to see him as the
solidified indisputable RB1 of this team
and what has surprised me isn't that he's able to run
downfield with ability and conviction and thunder
and might but it's also that he especially in the
last game was able to contribute out
of the backfield as a pass catcher as well he looks
like he is an all-around tailback and that's very valuable
and keep in mind he was a 20 year
old rookie. So even though he's in his third season,
the guy is still 22 years old, didn't
have a long collegiate career, and has fresh legs underneath him.
If you look at Zach Rosenblatt's
latest tweet, he said Braylon Allen over
the last four games has done the following. 357 rushing
yards. That is second amongst NFL running backs during that period.
Five yards per carry. That's
Tied for fifth, 22 forced missed tackles.
That leads the National Football League amongst
NFL running backs over those four games.
4.21 yards after contact per attempt.
That second, 14 10-plus yard runs.
First again, 19 first downs, fourth.
And so when you think about the New York Jets offense,
and you think about the kind of playmakers
that they have at their disposal,
you know, there's a lot of reasons to be optimistic.
You look, obviously, at Omar Cooper
and how impressive he's been since coming off the injured list.
And then you also, obviously, you have Adonai Mitchell now healthy.
We've seen flashes of what he can provide.
Quinnen Williams, same thing.
I'd love to see him get more involved.
But I think we need to start incorporating Braylon Allen
into that discussion of reasons to be hopeful,
reasons to look at this New York Jets offense
and say hey they got some real good quality weapons
here for whoever may be the QB next now I think Geno Smith has done
a good enough job to warrant
a continuing to be the starter
and be potentially being a bridge starter next year assuming the Jets
go out and do what we expect them to do and that is to draft
a quarterback if you look at Braylon
Allen's line on the season he has 314 rushing yards
to go along with two rushing touchdowns
and 45 receiving yards 30 of those came in the last game
but this is what something that I alluded
to earlier and this is a big thing
this is a significantly cheaper contract he has two more
years on it for a total value
of 2.5 now look don't don't get me wrong the Jets are not strapped
for cash. And Woody Johnson has a lot of money,
but more importantly, the Jets have a lot of cap
space. So, you know, they're not struggling to make
these contracts work. What they are struggling
to do is build a team that is fully gelling together
and is ready to win. And when you're
2-5 and, you know, if they fall to 2-6, 2-7,
it's clear at that point they will not be making a
playoff run so when you have a running back in Breece Hall
who is in his athletic prime who is
coming off an injury and will be active soon
if not this week the next week then it makes sense
to offload a contract that while the team can afford it
is a contract that the jets do not
need to be paying they can reallocate these funds
a into paying for the draft pick that they received
back for him and B to go out and further reach out
and improve the roster holistically in free
agency and that's why again I'm gonna I'm gonna
release more videos about this I'm gonna release
videos about Garrett Wilson
and the possibilities at the trade deadline for him obviously getting
into the discussion of what D'Andre Swift can
do but I think D'Andre Swift has proven enough
to retain his role this question about the Jets future is more
so permeating around Aaron Glenn
and so when you look at what the Jets have done it hasn't
been good enough and they need to sell
off their veterans but this is going to be an area
that is very appealing for any new head coach
partially because they're going to have
a young tailback they can feel good about even after the
Jets trade Brees Hall in a move that hypothetically I believe
the Jets will and should make and that's
because you know Braylon Allen's been awesome now Breece Hall
is going to have value you look at his
season line he hasn't played a ton
but he's got over 100 receiving yards and 100 rushing yards
and don't get me wrong both Braylon Allen
and Brees Hall have their strengths and weaknesses
Breece Hall is a better receiving back even
though Braylon has shown flashes and he has shown
improvement in that area.
Breece is certainly the more established commodity in that frame.
However, I would argue that Braylon Allen
is the better downfield runner today. So I think that it
would be a smart move. It's sad.
Breece Hall has been a really good jet. But at this point,
given the contract, given the state of the team
and where they're going, it makes the most sense,
in my humble opinion to trade Breece Hall
but let me know what you guys think would you trade
Breece Hall for a strong draft pick package yes reset the timeline
or B keep Hall and build
around him comment below let me know what you guys think
and as always guys let's go Jets
