He reflects on the emotional journey of the season, the challenges of the professional grind, and his personal experience regarding roster decisions during the World Series run.
Someone from northwest Indiana.
Hey there, Tim.
Who you got?
Well, I'll tell you what.
Chad, Patrick, and I, we've hooked up the monitor here.
Our photographer, Tanner, thought maybe it'd
be fun to hook up this monitor
so these guys could watch what was going
on back in Milwaukee live tonight.
Chad, as a Milwaukee brewer, what are you watching?
How cool is that?
Hey, that's unbelievable to watch.
What I'm seeing in Milwaukee is what I'm looking forward to on Friday.
Yeah, this connection between the fan base
and the baseball team means what to you guys on this team?
Everything. You guys drove us throughout this whole year.
You know, I think the best part about this season was showing up on
weekdays, day games, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and seeing full crowds.
I mean, you guys love Milwaukee. I love Milwaukee.
This is just the best part of the game is you guys.
Those guys right there are waiting
for merchandise outside AmFam at 12, 18 at night.
I hope they open up.
I've done it before.
I've waited in line for merchandise.
Don't get into fights.
Let people cut.
If they cut it, they cut.
This is how it goes.
You all get something.
Let stuff go.
Don't get into fights.
But I think that's awesome.
You said you had some friends
who were in the celebrations earlier this week, right?
Kind of watching some of the stuff downtown?
Yeah.
Shout out to Zach and Nick Serber.
Went to high school with them.
They're big Brewers fans, big Wisconsin fans.
I know they're Bucks, Brewers, Green Bay, and Wisconsin Badgers fans.
So shout out to them.
I know they're going to love that.
But they drove up from, they live in Indianapolis,
and they drove up to watch it with you guys at AmFam Field tonight.
And you said they were watching on the monitor, right?
They were in Deer District last night,
and then I think ticket sales for going to the stadium
was a little smaller price today.
You've got to go the way it goes.
Chad, I want to ask you one question about your situation.
A huge contributor to the team this season.
We're not able to be on the World Series roster.
Brandon Woodruff was activated for that spot.
How did all that go down for you, and how do you feel?
Yeah, I mean, at first, you know, it's a tough situation.
And at first you're hurt, and secondly, you're happy.
Those are two emotions that you play with,
and you find a way to make it about the team.
And that's what it was about for me.
I knew what I did for the team for the whole year,
but also I knew that we were going to put the best product on the field
to get the job done.
Ultimately, you know, we did that,
and luckily we have a guy named Aaron Ashby
who is a dog from the left side.
I remember in '24 in AAA, the guy couldn't throw a strike
because he was recovering from shoulder surgery.
I didn't know him at the time.
I just got traded here.
And then all of a sudden, I'm watching his velo tick up.
I'm watching everything happen.
Personally, from the pitching standpoint, William deserved it, the MVP.
But that guy's my MVP.
You know, they're both my MVPs, but Ashby is for the team.
Like, they're both for the team.
Don't get that wrong.
Ashby is for the guys, you know.
That's just my guy.
He's been a great leader in the clubhouse
and done everything the right way.
You know, he's a contributor for this team
in probably the biggest aspect.
This is an emotional night, isn't it?
The wonderful emotions, you kind of think about emotions, man.
Your baseball career, this is the pinnacle.
Yeah, you think about that, you know.
You start at spring training,
and then you go all the way to the end of October.
You know, that's a long time, you know.
It's February through October.
On the road, traveling, being away from family, you know,
everyone's situations are different, but that's hard.
Mentally, it's hard, but physically, it's even tougher.
Helps a little bit to win the world championship.
It's all worth it.
I hope we party on tonight.
I'm looking forward to that.
I'm guessing you're on the way.
These guys are on the way.
Milwaukee's on the way.
That's awesome.
We'll see you Friday.
Seriously, looking forward to Friday.
I can't wait to see you guys.
With that, we're going to take a break.
Doesn't get any better than that.
All right, Chad.
Thank you.
All right, guys.
