So I want to bring in now one of our guests
that has joined us often here on Fox 6 Now
throughout this World Series run that I know many
of you guys are a pretty big fan of.
Father Edward Looney joining us once again today.
I know eventually you're going to give us a prayer
because our viewers really like these.
And, you know, we always like to help the Brewers out
and lift them up in prayer here on Fox 6 Now.
But for starters, you were at the game last night.
You actually were also at game one and three.
but for the first time the Brewers lost what
was this like being inside Tropicana last night
yeah my postseason record of attendance you know now has
a loss in the column so um you know it
was uh we were hopeful hopeful in that uh in the top
of the the 12th with that home run and then
all of us were kind of on the edge of our seat
is this really going to happen and then there was
that error in the bottom of the 12th
and and then it all unfolded and unraveled and we were a lot
deflated i think you could say
so um i was texting some people they were texting me and they're like
well how are the fans right now and uh as we're walking out
though we're still doing the let's
go brewers cheer so um even though defeated still hope
and still cheering how different was it i
I mean, game three at the Trop, the Brewers dominated.
Eight runs in the fifth, ultimately winning 10-1.
I know a lot of Rays fans kind of exited early.
They did not do that yesterday.
So was it just a totally different environment for the game?
Yeah, it was in many different respects,
you know, of course, with the Rays fans.
And there was some around me again.
And you kind of get to experience that and look back
and see how they're taking in the game
or how they're experiencing it.
one guy had the cowbell you know
and so that that was loud um you know where i was seated actually
it was a little different too
and maybe it was because i didn't have you know the last time i
had a group of four or five friends
who were all in the same area but this time like there wasn't
as much high-fiving
or there wasn't as much excitement of you know of peer-to-peer around
one another it was just like we were watching the game
and cheering ourselves but not the communal
aspect that was just where I was I can't say
for for all the other areas but but that was my
experience at least yeah okay let's talk about I mean first
of all just extra innings were you at
any point like I'm exhausted I need this game to end
or was it like hey free baseball let's keep
going here what was kind of your attitude about that yeah
when they tied it up it was like I can't
believe that we're going to maybe have a 13th inning
and that it was going to keep going and so
you're right I think we all kind
of were hoping like okay let's just let's just end this game
let's win it um obviously we didn't want them to end the game
and win it but that's that's what
happened we didn't go to the 13th inning it was it
was kind of like you got a little bonus for
your money that you spent
so instead of getting nine innings you get 12 and um and stories to
tell you know like if you if you're at game three
and game four and for those who are fortunate
enough to go to game five tonight like
and if the brewers were to win like what a story to tell that
okay at game three they scored 10 runs at game four it
was the 12 inning game and at game five
they took the series like those are stories you're going
to tell for the rest of your life
yes oh absolutely okay take me back
to the 12th inning Cooper Pratt hits this homer did you think
the Brewers had it in that moment I think we all thought it
was going to come to an end and
you know it was just everybody was tired
and we we just thought I think Tampa Bay would come out
tired in that last they hadn't had any you know success
or much success at at their at-bats and
so you just kind of were hopeful that given
the long string of zeros on the board that it was
just going to continue so obviously very disappointing
when when the bases got loaded
And obviously that that last run came in.
You know, I've been joking that we have Midwest manners.
So we just wanted the Rays to have this opportunity
to feel what it's like to win a World Series game.
I would argue, no, we're told to love thy neighbor.
I think that's what was on display yesterday at Tropicana.
Yeah, I think so, too.
And, you know, baseball games give you a strong opportunity
to love your neighbor because actually there was a Brewers fan,
maybe four rows in front of us.
who like literally just stood
and he was like blocking the view of home plate and
i could see the person in front
of me like texting like people and saying like i'm so
angry right now and sending the picture of the guy
and like this guy just won't sit down and
um you know so so there's lots of opportunities
to love our neighbor even Brewers fans but most
especially this is a moment just
to let let them celebrate too i suppose yes absolutely okay you
have been very kind with us these last few days,
presenting us with and helping us in a moment of
prayer as we get ready for the games.
And I really liked what you have prepared for us today because,
you know, sometimes we got to feel defeat
and we got to move on and we can show the perseverance
here. And that's what we can do today.
That's exactly right. You know, in the Catholic Church
today, we celebrate St. Jude
and St. Jude is the patron saint of hopeless causes. So lots of people
will turn to his intercession there's lots
of novena prayers to saint jude and the diocese of
Saint Petersburg their cathedral is Saint Jude
and also um he's their patron and so like hopefully
that it's not like a telltale of what could happen tonight
for the Tampa Bay Rays that saint jude's
gonna pull through for them
so we can't i don't think we can invoke saint jude today so we just
gotta keep doing what what we've done for the Brewers
because Saint Jude's praying for Tampa
Bay I think so um but let us pray Lord I'll take
the hat off Lord sometimes you allow us to taste
defeat so that victory may be all the sweeter grant
our players the rest they need after last
night's long and late game give them the strength
to bounce back the humility to learn from their
mistakes and a watchful eye at the plate bless
their efforts with plenty of hits and runs tonight
and above all, thy will be done. Amen. Amen.
We couldn't have put it better. Father Edward Looney
joining us once again, treating us to that prayer ahead of game five.
I know you are coming back to
Wisconsin today, so we wish you safe travels.
Are you going to land and turn the game on?
Yeah, I'm hoping that the game's going to be on.
My flight is actually at 6 p.m. Eastern,
and then I have a layover and another flight.
But I'm hopeful, you know, that the game will be on
the on the screen you know i was able
to watch Monday night football fly or Sunday night football
rather when i was flying down
so i'm hoping that's the case otherwise he'll connect to the wi-fi and
just watch it on the apple sports thing yeah
but i can't stay for game five it's time to go home
it's time to come back to Wisconsin we miss you
but we definitely appreciate you joining us
once again here on Fox 6 now thanks
so much Father Looney yeah thanks Hailey
