The Chicago bulls took on the Washington wizards today. And
there are a lot of positives to take away from this game.
Realistically speaking, when you talk
about the game that we saw Caleb Wilson play today, so many highs.
And I think that really
it's one quarter where you saw the Chicago bulls lapse
that really leads to the loss in
at the end of this, right?
They give up 40 points in the third quarter. And that was
really when you kind of saw everyone lock
in the bulls defense, I thought kind of hit
a little bit of a lull.
I thought that Anthony Davis and, and Trey young did a good job of
continuing to attack the bulls.
I mean, when you watch what, what Keyshawn George was able
to do in that quarter as well,
like there was just so many good details that they were
able to bring out that really attacked some
of the Bulls weaknesses there, but the Bulls found
a way to fight back. And that's the one thing
that we really want to see from the Chicago Bulls team.
Not to say that you're here for moral victories
or that you want to see them, you know, go out
there and compete, but you know, it's not going to be enough.
But I think that this is kind of what
we have come to expect when, when we look at this season,
this is a development season.
And when you talk about development with where
this Chicago Bulls team started things off,
You see a 30 point game,
a 14 plus a positive 14 plus minus 14 rebounds, one block, two
steals, no turnovers,
which may be the best stat of the night and three assists for Caleb
Wilson.
He put the pressure on the Washington Wizards all night.
He was attacking the rim, looking to be aggressive.
He was trying to rip the rim off.
And if anybody was in front of the rim,
he was trying to jump right over them.
And I think what you
also saw in that game that Coby White has was you saw it invigorate
Matas Buzelis.
You saw Matas Buzelis who to me looked much more locked
in throughout the entire game. He went
seven for 13 in this one, 21 points. He had one steal.
He had two assists five rebounds as well.
He did have three turnovers in the game,
but still a plus three plus minus. And I thought
with the combination of those two attacking offensively,
this is Tiago Splitter's dream
starting to come together.
They are supposed to be the focal point of this offense. And I think
that you can talk about them as such a very tough day
for Norman Powell today. Maybe if you were
able to get a little bit more from him shooting wise,
nobody shot the three. Well, the Bulls as
a whole have struggled to shoot the three this entire season.
But if you had gotten a little
bit more out of him shooting wise,
four for 12 from the field, three for seven from the three
point line, and then did get to the free throw line seven times.
But a lot of that was kind of,
excuse me, towards the end of the game where it kind
of had gotten out of hand.
And this was after that third quarter run.
I believe he had about 11 points at the half.
He finished that third quarter with 13.
And so you were really hoping to get
a little bit more out of Norman Powell tonight.
Overall, though, I mean, you saw a team that refused to give up.
And right now that feels good
when you have a young basketball team, when you have a team
that you're going, okay, you got yourselves in a bit of a hole.
The Bulls actually had the lead at the half.
I believe they held a five point lead
at the halfway point of this game.
yeah 62 to 57 at the halfway point of this game
and offensively they were really clicking early
that third quarter lull of offense paired up
with just some really really struggling defense and
defense that didn't even last the entire game they really turned
the defense back on in the fourth
quarter but you just allowed the Washington
to get itself in a rhythm you allowed Anthony Davis to
get himself going strong around the rim Anthony Davis
who had been in foul trouble early on in
this game. I thought that we didn't
do a good enough job attacking him and putting him in some
tough positions. That's a guy that you want
to get out of this game. That's a guy that you want
to try and force to be off of the court
because of the fact that this bulls team has struggled so
mightily and guarding Anthony Davis over the years.
But you know, I thought you saw a really
good team effort to finish out this game.
And realistically, that's one of the things that I
think you can truly be excited about with this team
is seeing the amount of want the amount of
go that they still have even
when they get into some tough situations let me know how you guys
feel down in the comments below hit
that like button subscribe to the page leave a five-star
view y'all know what to do one of the spots
that really struggled today uh was that bench unit only
28 points for you off of the bench
and just got outscored completely by the washington bench who
was able to go out there
and put up 41 uh trey jones did not have one of his better days today
still was very much involved
but you know is what we've come to be accustomed with with trey jones
is yes the guy that can facilitate he can score on the other end
but that defense is usually what
leads it and i thought that he really got taken advantage
of in this matchup here Leonard Miller
did not have his best showing either which is somebody
who the Bulls are going to have to rely
on a ton this year i'll tell you what the even
and i think this goes back to the point of never
giving up never seeing this team really give up right like
when you talk about a player who
even on his bad shooting nights.
And I think this embodies kind of that whole feeling of the team
here on the bad shooting nights, three for eight,
37% from the field, one for four on a three point
line, still finding a way to get a steal,
still finding a way to try and get himself into that
block column. I thought he did a very, very good job.
One of the few people tonight that I thought
did a really good job defensively staying
on track for the most part. But there were some
times where even he got out of rotation.
And so this is going to be a team that's going to have
to be built off a team defense.
That's what it comes down to. That's where you're going
to have your best strengths.
And once this team starts to figure out some of that defense,
I think you start to see some of these games go the Chicago Bulls way.
Let me know how you guys feel down in the
comments below, man. What are your thoughts
on this Bulls team taking an L in the home opener
and who stood out the most to you when
you looked at it? I think one thing
that I found very interesting and I want to double
check the numbers on this because in the second half there,
yeah, that's what I thought. Not
Not a lot of Jalen Smith in the second half of this game,
only 11 minutes of Jalen Smith.
And I thought the Jalen did a really good job in the first half,
establishing his presence.
He was five for 10 from the field in 12 minutes of play.
He was two for six and you just never
really got involved him back involved in the game plan.
He had 12 points in that first
half. I would've thought in the second half,
you want to continue to try and get the ball
into him. And I get it like Caleb Wilson was cooking.
So you want to get the ball to him.
a lot of those Matas Buzelis, you know, was playing
pretty well. So you want to get the ball to him
as well. But Norman Powell was some
of the struggles that he had, even though he did go
two for four in that second half,
I would have liked to see you try and get the ball a little
bit more to Jalen Smith and utilize him more.
Leonard Miller was getting a lot of minutes in
that second half as well,
but Jalen kind of had the ball rolling and it felt like Chicago went away
from him in that sense. Hopefully this is something
that the Bulls can bounce back from.
I think that this is not going to be, you know,
a game that we look at as, oh my God,
I can't believe that they dropped this game.
This is one where you saw the energy be high.
You saw the Bulls looking to attack
and the shots kind of just stopped falling.
Again, there's parts of this team
that it's going to take a while to figure out.
But the fact that you're talking about game one
of Caleb Wilson with a 30 and four, or
I should say game one at home with a 30 and 14 game.
yes on a 10 of 24 shooting night but still you know a guy
who seems very very confident seems
very willing to go out there and be aggressive
and also play within the offense it wasn't just
Caleb Wilson saying I'm just going
to start chucking stuff up these were open shots that
he had in that third quarter they had
a really really big cold stretch and so these were open
looks that they had these were uh you know finishes
at the rim that he's probably looking
at himself saying we should have been able to get
that you know if this is where you're starting
from three games in, it truly feels like you're going to be very,
very confident with what you
have. As we continue through the season,
it feels like the Chicago Bulls have one of those guys
that you need to come away from the draft with.
And that feels good to say about the Chicago
Bulls team. And especially with Caleb Wilson,
I think you're seeing it motivate Matas Buzelis
to be an even better version of himself.
Love the fact that he was able to get to the free throw
line as much as he did today as well.
But like I said, let me know how you guys feel about this
game down in the comments below. I'll be down there talking
with you guys as well. As always, it is
your boy, Pat the Designer, back at it again.
Me and Hayes should be going live over
on Locked on Bulls tonight. I'm
going to hit him up and see if we will be, but I
believe that we'll be over on Locked on Bulls, so
make sure that you have the notification for that selected
as well. As always, man, like I said, it's
your boy, Pat the Designer, back at it again. See you right next
time. Stand up. Peace.
