Chicago Bears Defense Breakdown | Bears Have A Jaylon Johnson Issue

I know a lot of people little bit like Pat, what happened the last few days you didn't react after the Bears lost to the Packers, are you okay? But the reality is, I still think the Chicago Bears can be a playoff team. I still believe that Ben Johnson is a very, very good head coach. I still believe that this Bears coaching staff is going to overcome a struggle here. I still think that the Bears can make Christmas very bad for Packer fans, right? There's so many highs that I still have on this team. this is a this week conversation in my mind but there are certain things that have not been week to week there are certain things that have been incredibly consistent throughout this Chicago Bears season and the number one is Jalen Johnson has looked horrible and it is not just the eye test the eye test is god awful ladies and gentlemen when you just watch it on film he looks like a player who can no longer run who can no longer be the all pro caliber player that he once was and i hope that he is able to return to that but the reality of the situation is i'll give you the benefit of the doubt one week two weeks three weeks into the season you're trying to find yourself i said the first four weeks of the season are essentially pre-season at this point just you getting your body back right and figuring out where you're supposed to be we get to week five And you look like that. And there is not a conversation that I can have with you in a positive manner. When you look at where the Chicago Bears team is at right now, defensively, of course, the struggles are there. But there is one player in particular when when he is being picked on 22 targets this season, he has allowed a completion on 17 of those targets. That is a 77.3 percent completion rating on Jalen Johnson right now. And I know that number fluctuates. I think ESPN has it at 80 percent. I think I saw NFL.com has it at 84 percent. here's the bottom line of it it's bad and it's not just bad in the sense of like they're they're finding ways to exploit him no the green bay packers legitimately just said you're not talented enough to stop us you don't have the skill set you can't stand across from christian watson mano a mano and win in a matchup and i do think like the one where dylan thieneman gets cooked on that that is on dylan thieneman but what you saw yesterday was when your or what i should say what you saw Sunday was when your rookie had a bad day which by the way rookies are gonna have it doesn't excuse Dylan Thieneman it doesn't take it away but I I expect it from Dylan Thieneman right when your rookie had a bad day the highly paid should never have all pro attached to his name again cornerback who was supposed to be the pillar of your defense fell apart this season alone when Jalen Johnson has been targeted. He has allowed a 118.6 passer rating. He's allowed 81 yards after the catch. He has given you zero interceptions. He has given you zero pass breakups. He has allowed 16.8 yards on completions allowed, and he has allowed 286 receiving yards this season, game by game. Now, the Jets game was pretty good. Only got targeted one time. Again, Geno Smith had a really tough day. Defense wasn't out there for a ton of the time so maybe you take that one away but on a game by game basis here just so much don't think it's like oh it was all one lump sum he's that no 127 yards on Jalen Johnson alone allowed in that Panthers game 41 yards on Jalen Johnson alone allowed in the Vikings game 65 yards on Jalen Johnson alone six of seven completion allowed in the Eagles game in that Packers game don't even get me started don't even get me started don't piss me off it's over like I hope you can find it I hope you can you can work your way back into it but the reality of the situation where the Chicago Bears are right now is you have a Jalen Johnson problem he is a player who the only thing you're thinking about right now is man is it going to be okay if we can cut him next season are we going to be have to go into this next draft and find our next DB of the future because Malik Muhammad is going to have to be not Tyreek Stevenson replacement but Jalen Johnson replacement That's how bad he is playing early in the season. And again, there's a lot of football season left. I do think if you added a little bit more to the pass rush, because we're going to talk about more than Jalen Johnson in this, but I do think if you added a little bit more to the pass rush, you would see maybe a little bit better version of Jalen Johnson. But here's the thing. There was a little bit of a pass rush in that game versus Jordan Love. Jordan Love was going the wrong way. And it got to a point where literally in the second half of that game, I have never seen this in my life. In the second half of that football game, they said, we're going to go go ball, go ball, go ball, go ball, go ball, go ball because you're not good enough. And we're going to attack you every time. And we're going to put that rookie to the test. And we're going to stretch that defense then because you're not good enough. Now, is it just Jalen Johnson? 100% not. Tyreek Stevenson, pack your stuff. That's how he looks out there. And when he's not looking bad, he's banged up and on the sideline and not contributing to the game. But it shouldn't be that in a game where Dylan Fieneman and Malik Muhammad had their worst game ever. I can't count on my highest paid defensive players to go out there and be able to make an impact. I asked this on the post postgame show, asked this on the Chicago Bears podcast yesterday with Shane Norling. Who's your favorite high paid contract on the Chicago Bears defense this is the seventh highest paid defense in football this is not a team that has just made mistakes along the way no this is poor investment and you are getting terrible ROI on everyone just about to this point who you have paid big money to Devin Bush I like I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I don't like Devin Bush I think that Grady Jarrett is having a bounce back season maybe you could say dial a dang boys in there although hopefully he is healthy moving forward here but at the end of the day right now you are in a situation where the guy and he is supposed to be the guy he is supposed to be he came out of training camp as the leader of this defense he is the guy that is the conversation might arguably be the worst cornerback in football right now bar none and that is really really difficult to overcome for a Chicago Bears defense let me know how you guys feel down in the comments below hit that like button subscribe to the page leave a five-star review y'all know what to do let me know do you feel like the Chicago Bears have a Jalen Johnson problem or do you think that Jalen can get this back on track there's a lot of season left to change our minds but this is a horrible horrible place for you to start and I listen you guys heard me through the first four weeks yo Jalen he's trying to figure it out he's trying to get himself back thought thought we saw something good against the Jets even in limited time right but it was like he's trying to get himself back he's trying to feel like himself again maybe it's mental maybe he doesn't feel like he's there yet i understand all of that but at a certain point and this is kind of the same situation uh or same conversation i had when we were having in a very different scenario though but when we were talking about Nate Davis right the situation he went through i get it you're supposed to be off you're supposed to change it's very very different but at a certain point you gotta just have football conversation I'll give you I gave Nate Davis the whole year I said the year's a wash it's all about how he bounces back for Jalen Johnson all last year he's not healthy beginning of this year he's not healthy or not that he's not healthy but he's got to figure out how to get himself back or back to being that player he he isn't playing like he feels or thinks that he is healthy right now he's playing like a player that's trying to convince himself that he is healthy but at a certain point you got to produce on the football field at a certain point you've got to be able to go out there and be somebody that they can count on there's a real conversation that if it wasn't Jalen Johnson and it's anybody else on this defense he's benched if it wasn't one of your highest paid guys he's benched that's real if this is Tyreek Stevenson who by the way is also having a horrible year but you didn't have to pay him but if this is Tyreek Stevenson what's the obvious conversation we're having about Tyreek you know just play Malik if if Kyler comes back just play Malik and so you are living in a very very difficult world in my mind that you're going to have to fight tooth and nail to overcome and I just think it's going to be very tough very tough now that I think that this has been exposed although I don't think it's something that we will see a ton versus Atlanta Ben Johnson kind of spoke to this yesterday when he was talking about um you know how Atlanta went about you know how they go about you know getting their points it's going to be heavily predicated on Bijan Robinson of course Drake London's going to be involved in there but you're probably not going to see them throw those go balls the way that the Packers did but there are going to be teams that you you got to face JSN this year you've got to face Justin Jefferson one more time you've got to feel like the name that you got to face I'm in Rasheen Brown and Jameson Williams you twice still like there are teams that are going to sit there and watch this tape and go oh it doesn't matter if you're in umbrella coverage you can't beat us bet and so that is where i think this is going to be very very interesting moving forward where i think this could get very dangerous for the Chicago Bears team again hit that like button if you have not done so subscribe to the page listen your your high paid defense is getting exposed And I said it right. It is not just Jalen Johnson. I think maybe one of the most egregious right now is the fact that you have a player on your defense who is the 16th highest paid edge in football, who has the third highest cap hit in football and who has a 10.7 percent pressure rate through five games. I'm looking at you Montez Sweat who how many games are we going to go through and and here's my thing how many games are we going to go through let me finish thought how many games are we going to go through where we don't say your name and there's more guys on this list there's some offensive guys on my list that I have talked about that I think it's valid to have these conversations on because Bears fans let me know in the comments are these new conversations that we're having about Jalen Johnson this year are these new conversations that we are having about Montez Sweat this year are these new conversations that we are having about on my list Cairo Santos this year Roma Dunzey this year like the guys who i'm not sitting here telling you to live in a week-to-week basis where oh they're going to the Super Bowl when you beat the Jets and then oh my god the world is ending when you lose to the Packers even though it's a rough way to lose to the Packers like i still think that they're the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle of that i still think Ben Johnson gets the offense back on track when he gets Caleb Williams back in there i still think that like there's so much good that still can come from this team but the guys that we have continued to have the same conversations about it is valid to have that conversation i'll tell you what uh Austin Booker looks like he's really figured out his role with his snap count going up but for the love of god Montez Sweat you might need your snap count decrease, hey maybe you don't, I can't tell the difference, it's not like you're out, it looks like you're out there, I don't see you chasing around quarterbacks week in and week out I thought the first couple of weeks of the season Montez Sweat really was showing something and then it's like it it just plateaued off and now we're back into this same world that we've been living in with him for I don't know how long, and at a certain point like I get it, you want the best, as Bears fans we want the best, so you try to convince yourself okay well maybe he's he's good at this, maybe it's because of the double coverages, maybe when you look at the tape you're seeing something different and you're seeing the impact that doesn't go into the numbers, you're not, don't let them fool you, he's not making an impact on the football field and when you ask him about it, they say well it's everybody's job yeah, of course it's everybody's job but he's really bad at his, of course it's everybody's job, but outside of your two sacks on the season I haven't said your name, how often have you talked about a Montez Sweat TFL, how often have you talked about Montez Sweat hitting the quarterback, how often have you talked about Montez Sweat in hurry up these are two of the biggest cap hits you have and right now on the football field they are useless, I fully believe if Dennis Allen could cut them with no repercussions today he'd seriously be contemplating and so when you're living in that world where your two highest cap hits don't impact the game and in fact can be exposed time and time again, you're living in a very difficult world to succeed in in a world where I think what we saw over the last three weeks, right, where your offense has to carry this defense can be the no-name defense, if this offense gets out there and carries them and dominates time of possession but if you need them to go out there and actually be a by the way you shouldn't be the no-name defense seventh highest paid defensive football but if you need them to actually go out there and get you a play when you need it most it's spooky it's real spooky hey man we are back in full effect we appreciate y'all for tuning in and showing love let me know how you guys feel down in the comments below man uh what are your thoughts on the two players i brought up here there's a lot more players that we can get into but those were the two that i really wanted to focus on in this video because they are the guys that are the biggest hit for you um update on the channel and big shout out to y'all uh who have stuck around big shout out to y'all who kept asking what was going on with the channel i also want to drop this out there just as a warning to other young content creators because you can get got because of ai now they are making these things look really really good and they're able to put up websites before googling certain certain uh um sites and things like that are able to flag them as being fake sites. So there was a site and I'm going to say them on here. It was tube I V T U B I V and, and or two before, however you want to say it. Uh, and they offered a brand deal to us and you know, everything looked legit. I was responding back and forth with the person there. There was some good correspondence. It looked like a website that I have gotten. You guys always watch the aura ad. Uh, it looked like a website that we got the aura ad off of. And so very similar to that. You sign in with your Google, you do all of this, but all of a sudden something felt wrong and you saw instantly for me, uh, or I should say I saw instantly, but if you ended up doing this, you would see it. Oh, I think somebody might've hacked my stuff. By the time I had had that realization, they had changed passwords. They had locked me out. They had taken everything away. And so it was my mistake. They got the channel locked out. This was nothing that YouTube did. YouTube was phenomenal in getting us restored and getting us back. We are going to be pre-recording like this probably for the next couple of days just until we can get some different security measures set up just as a precaution and things like that. But here's the bottom line of it. Be very wary. Be very careful. Even if every conversation you have and everything that you see seems legit, be extremely, extremely wary, because that is what ended up happening with me where I mean, I have seen these scam websites. I have seen what they look like. And I mean, these mugs had reviews set up. They had freaking reactions to different ads. They had people with the microphones on there that they were trying to give us. And I mean, it was impeccably done to trick us, but it cost us a very, very massive weekend. And so, you know, just be careful, be very vigilant. Sometimes you're going to get got. Unfortunately, I think that's kind of the new world that we're in. But just make sure that, you know, even if you got to cross reference it through ChatGPT or whatever it is that you are being extremely careful because that's what ended up happening. So moving forward throughout this week, we're going to be setting up different account security things. So you may not see me on the morning breeze as a morning breeze through this week. We will still be doing well. We're back to posting, as you can see, which is good. And we're just we're getting ourselves back on our feet. But, man, we just it really sucked. It really did suck that we lost this weekend because win or lose, man, it's Bears Packers. You know, we stand on it. I'm sure Jimmy Hoffa's in the comments going crazy. like, Oh, y'all were ducking.
