Video Summary
AI GeneratedMontez Sweat's PED suspension creates a critical opportunity for young Chicago Bears defensive linemen to earn snaps and prove their value. Additionally, reports suggest Caleb Williams is trending toward a return for Week 6, which could significantly revitalize the team's offensive dynamics against Atlanta.
With Montez Sweat's suspension,
an entirely new opportunity has been created
for the young players on this team.
We got to talk about what that could be
for this defensive line
and why that could mean quite a bit
moving forward into this season.
We'll talk about all that more
on today's episode of the Windy City Breeze Sports Talk Daily.

All right. So the opportunity is there
for this young Chicago Bears defense to actually start to take shape.
Of course, we've seen Dylan Thienemann.
Of course, we have seen Malik Muhammad and we've seen
the exciting flashes of Austin Booker at the start of this season.
But the reality of things is now with Montez Sweat being suspended
for PDs over the next couple of games, there's a real opportunity
to take a stronghold on a position if you are one of these young names.
and shamar turner was activated off
of that published yesterday with shamar being activated
off of the published yesterday i think
that that makes it very very interesting to see okay over
these next couple of games what kind of snap share is he going to get
because if you can start to
prove that hey the guy that they drafted number one
is gonna have the advantage so if you can
prove a that we drafted you in the right spot
and you are somebody competent on that opposite edge
of Austin Booker over the next couple of games
and b that Austin Booker is starting to take over
you know as the as he said the more snaps he gets
the more opportunity he gets the better the
production is going to be if that is the case
moving forward you could be talking about a
changing of the guard happening here
because what this does with this suspension is the rest of
this season for Montez Sweat's contract is now non-guaranteed right
which means if you wanted
to move on from Montez Sweat you could now I
do not believe that is the case here but what it now
does is it takes a player who because he had guaranteed money
because he had you know he was
cemented into what you were doing you were kind
of beholden to him today we got a role with you
we're going to figure this thing out we're going
to get it all together with the changes in the
guarantees because of this suspension I think
that it makes number one it can make Montez Sweat much
more hungry and need to get after it a lot more
but number two it puts you in a situation where
now all of a sudden if you want him to be he can
be an expendable player for you if somebody else
is playing better now all of a sudden
while yes you do have to pay him that money you're looking
at this and going hey if we wanted to move
on from him we could if he was unhappy in whatever role
we want to put him in maybe they've wanted to make
a change maybe they've wanted to go a different
direction but because of Shamar Turner's injury you haven't
been able to if shamar is able to
return and look like the guy that they had hoped
to get off of that opposite edge i think that it
could be very interesting
for this Chicago Bears rotation moving forward let me know how you guys
feel down in the comments below do you feel that Montez Sweat
and his PED suspension has opened the
door for these young players on the defensive line uh drop a yes
or no in the comments below
because here's my thing right like
in in a world where Montez has the guaranteed contract the rest
of this year you were already trending towards we're probably going
to move on from you unless
you have an elite season as this season has started
and now with the suspension you would
have to have an out-of-body season right
because you're going to miss two more games here we're in
week five that will put you past week seven
if you're going past week seven in that situation
uh i think that it makes it so much now you would have
to take what he has done and times it by a
thousand for the bears to be sticking around
for his money moving forward into next season right
because he just hasn't played up to the contract that he has
and the dead cap money is not that
bad going into next year with that being said i think
that you want to start that development
process as soon as you can you want to get shamar in there
and hopefully he's healthy and able to
get out there and ready to go uh
but you want to get him out there and see okay hey if this is
somebody that we can trust in moving forward
that's not a problem that we're going to have
going into the draft and so i think that it just opens
the opportunity for the snap count of montez
sweat to go a direction that you didn't expect it
to be able to go this season just because of how
much you were beholden to him again let me know
how uh you guys feel down in the comments below
hit that like button subscribe to the page Little Five Star Review
y'all know what to do do you think
at Montez Sweat when he does come back is going
to come back to a very different Chicago Bears role
or do you think it's just status quo
because it very much could be listen like the non-guaranteed
money as much to do about nothing unless you cut him
because next season's contract people are
trying to make it you know spin
this into like oh you know well next season now it's going to be
easier to move on from it nothing changes about
next season next season was going to be next
season and like I said if you felt like you
were going to move on from you probably would
uh at the end of this year no matter what
but if you feel like he's somebody who can't go out there
I wish I could see what's happening behind the camera
my apologies my son is just running around
naked in the background over here he's getting ready
to take a bath he's not just naked but it
threw me off for a second there uh
but no if you're somebody that feels that you know Montez's
production is going to come back
and he was going to be on the Bears let me know in the comments
below as well big shout out to you guys for tuning
in and showing love now a conversation that we
continue to have and again I won't say you know Caleb is gonna play
or he's gonna be back until
Ben Johnson announces that right
but per a lot of uh different insiders here Ian Rappaport talked
about it yesterday and when you talk about uh
Mike Garofalo today having the conversation on
Caleb Williams continuing
to trend up towards playing it seems like uh this coming week six
we could be seeing Caleb Williams get back onto
the field i don't know if you guys saw it as well
but he dropped uh his profile picture on Instagram now as John Wick
and his bio just says i'm
inevitable and uh i i believe that is uh
in in reference to in John Wick one if you haven't seen
John Wick one where he gets towards the end of the movie
and he's like people keep asking me if i'm
back and i really haven't had an answer for him
but i'll tell you what i'm thinking i'm back
phenomenal movie phenomenal line love it all
but i say all that to say you know you you're you're
trending towards what feels like Caleb Williams playing
this coming sunday which is a much needed
difference for the Chicago Bears
and when you add on top of that that it sounds like uh the
DeAndre Swift is dealing with a little bit of injury
and dealing with something trying to fight
through it I guess that would make a heck
of a lot more sense for what we saw in the second half of
that Packer game although confusing right
but if he is banged up if he is hurt even though that was
wasn't something that was mentioned that could
be you know the difference in why you saw him not run
as much in the second half as you did in the first half
but getting Caleb Williams back changes
everything in the dynamic number one
because of his ability to use his own legs I think that that's
going to be something that is needed uh versus
an atlanta defense that truly can get after you and
can create a ton of pressure for your team
and now you know turning the page onto this atlanta
week unfortunately you had the last week you had
in green bay you're going to get a Caleb Williams
back who's trying to get himself quickly back on track
who's trying to get himself quickly back
into a position where he can actually you know put
his stamp on this season realistically what
we've seen is a game and a third of Caleb Will
or a game and two thirds of Caleb Williams to this
point. And it was really good.
And it was a very different version of the player that we saw in one
game. And then in the next game, it was, you know,
we're kind of coming back to earth. Maybe it's
because you're running more. Maybe it's
because of the weather. We know what Brian Flores' defense
can do to this Bears team, but just getting him back on the field,
you see how different this
offense is able to run just
with a competent quarterback like Chase in there, right? Like
or Chase, like when Case Keenum got into that game
and I'm not sitting here telling you
that it was immaculate, but all of a sudden it looked like
an offense that we had talked about
seeing over the last couple of years,
what we saw last week and kind of what we saw a little bit the
week before it truly just felt like, man,
we haven't talked about a quarterback playing like
this in a long time. This is really, really tough.
And I think that, you know, seeing what can become
of this offense when you have a Caleb Williams back
in it seeing how Ben Johnson is able to
run things how much freer he is able to play call I think
that that changes things dramatically as
you head into this Atlanta game and we'll see
who's that quarterback in that Atlanta game but
the offense has to go against a defense
and a Javon Dexter who is going to know some tendencies
who's going to know I mean he spent all
of training camp with Caleb Williams and he's playing
really really well down there right like he's going
to know how to get after Caleb and how to
get to Caleb in different ways uh that the rest
of that Atlanta Falcons team is not going to know
he's going to know how to beat Grady Jarrett
in different ways that the rest of that Atlanta
Falcons team is not going to know
and so i think that you're going to see a very very good chess
match in that game but at a minimum if Caleb is able
to play it changes everything so much because
you just get that that ability to have
a dual threat quarterback that can use his legs but
also has the arm talent to complete the passes
that you want to see but then on the flip side
of things right you you are taking a little bit
of the load even more off of DeAndre Swift we'll
probably end up dropping another video today uh
just after once once we know what the injury report
is and once we know kind
of who's you know it would have practiced today who wouldn't have
practiced today uh because Wednesday is usually more
of a walkthrough period type of thing um
it's going to be interesting to see kind of you know
who's available and who's not but this bears
team is incredibly banged up right now
and they're trying to fight their way back towards trending in
in a healthy direction and that's you know health changes
a lot for this team and they just don't
have it right now the hope is that soon we will be there
but again it's good to hear that Caleb
Williams is trending up feeling better about
this upcoming week it's very difficult to turn the page
on a Packer week but you got to turn the page
and appreciate uh all the people who have stood with
us through the struggles that we had during
Packer week outside of just the Packer game.
I keep saying that because it really means a lot that you guys
stuck around and shared
that tweet up and we're reaching out
to Google on our behalf, man. We love you guys
so much for that. But hey, man, appreciate y'all
tuning in and showing love as always. It is your boy
Pat the Designer back at it again. Y'all stay
safe out there, Chicago. Bear down. One love.
Peace.
