Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe Chicago Bulls suffered a rough opening game loss characterized by poor shooting and defensive lapses. Despite the blowout, the team showed resilience through its young core, specifically Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis, who remained competitive despite the score. The team now looks to correct these mistakes before facing the Milwaukee Bucks.

All right, let's get into it.
Bulls take a tough loss here in their opening game.
There were a lot of struggles to speak of.
And so why don't we start from the positive and go work our way back?
Because I think that that's the best way to go about this.
Listen, game one of Caleb Wilson,
I'm not going to say was all sunshine and rainbows.
In fact, it was a lot of struggle.
But the one thing that I think you can see
is the tenacity, the will, the want to,
and an ability to get to his move
but you have to be able to adjust to what NBA defenses are doing
to you because these guys are a heck of a lot better
at basketball than the guys that you play
in college and so I think you know going
from preseason where you saw him play pretty well
to now going to the regular season it's another step you
were playing one of what I believe is
going to be one of the toughest defenses in basketball
and so like to me I look at this as
you know a rough night
but a night where your goal to come out of this is to see okay how does
your team compete you you didn't see caleb wilson
and Matas Buzelis pouting while they were out
there at the end of an absolute blowout
as tiago splitter threw them out there i think that what
you saw was a team uh that just had some shooting woes
in night one versus like i said a team that
i believe is going to be incredibly strong defensively
this coming season some of the
numbers on the day caleb wilson had 16 points he
was 7 for 21, 1 for 8 from the three-point line
which, you know, the three point shooting
for the Bulls overall was abysmal, which is what kind of
put them in the situation that they were in.
They couldn't find any shots, but four for 36
on the day definitely was tough. Modest Muselis.
I thought showed you something in a
positive manner though. The shot wasn't falling for anybody today.
As I just said, two for eight
for Modest, four from the field,
but you saw Modest Muselis lock in, in a way that we haven't
seen him do before. And I think that that's something
that could benefit you in the long run.
He was like, the shot's not falling.
I'm going to get to the bucket.
I'm going to be aggressive.
I'm going to attack.
And in doing that, he got fouled.
He got to the free throw line for 16 free throws.
He made 13 of the 16.
He also added in five defensive rebounds,
one offensive board, six total there, and
had three turnovers on the day, but two blocked shots.
So, you know, with that 17 points that you saw from Modest,
again, not enough, but something
that you kind of feel like, okay,
at least I can see with Modest, it's ugly right now,
bad loss played bad, but you said,
I can't let this take me out of the game.
I have to find a way to get myself more involved in this game.
And you did that by getting to the
free throw line. So I would say those are some
of the positives that we got to see in the first
game here. Let me know how you guys feel down in the comments below,
because that's kind of the
end of the positives, ladies and gentlemen.
I mean, this was a bad game to start things off.
It looked like a team that was unprepared.
It looked like a team that we said
when we talked about this Bull team that, you know,
had to figure a lot of things out,
had to figure out, okay, what is the next play?
What is the next move?
Where are we supposed to rotate defensively?
It looked like a team that was thinking way too much.
And to me, I think that's what led to a lot
of the struggles on the offensive end.
I think defensively, you know,
when you start to see that struggle and you're, and it just
feels like you're thinking too much all night,
you know, any backdoor pass that the, uh,
Toronto Raptors wanted was available to them.
And I think, you know, on a, on a night where
you get that defensive matchup,
you can't give them anything extra. And so I think the
Bulls just were really out of sync here in this first game.
I think that there was, you
know, this is the first taste of Tiago Splitter coaching during
the season. This is the first
taste of this Bulls team working together as a unit.
So as time goes on, I think that
you'll see them start to step up
and play a little bit better. But yeah, man, listen,
it was a very, very rough night to start things off.
I think when you look at the other end of
things and you see four guys able to get over 20,
RJ Barrett, Emmanuel Quickley, Kawhi Leonard
and Scotty Barnes. I mean, defensively,
the Bulls weren't able to do anything really.
And you could, you saw kind of the big man rotations come in.
I think it got to a point
where Tiago was playing with some different rotations.
You saw Norman Powell in, in the
fourth quarter and it was just like okay we're we have kind
of thrown in the towel we're gonna let
the young guys go out there and figure it out
we're gonna let them fight through their shots
we're gonna let them feel this in the beginning
and we'll see kind of how we get better as this
time goes on we have another game coming up uh we're going
to be playing the Milwaukee Bucks
coming up next and it's one of those where you're just like okay
these are all the mistakes you made
now we get to see the tape on it now we get
to go back to the drawing board and this is a rough
first start for an NBA career
for Caleb Williams uh I'm sorry Caleb Wilson but this is how you get
to experience it sometimes this is how you learn you learn
the hard lessons by losing tough games
and this was a very very tough game to start things off
with here um hit that like button if

y'all know what to do as we look
ahead uh to this next Chicago Bulls game the things
that you want to see improve versus Milwaukee and
I had that Milwaukee game on as well.
Milwaukee looks like they are a team that is going to compete
That is going to be scrappy
That is going to fight you tooth and nail
They were going at it versus Washington.
And maybe it's because
you know,
both teams aren't going to be that great this year,
but I think Washington probably will be a little bit better.
But I mean,
Milwaukee came out and like I said,
they fought tooth and nail
and you're going to have to definitely improve.
Number one on the defensive rotations
One thing that you noticed a lot about Milwaukee
was as Tyler Herro was trying
to get to his shot as he was trying to get through his spots
there was a lot of closeout happening on him
and they were able to find some easy dump offs under
the basket. I think that that's something that,
you know, when the, when you get a chance to watch
the film, you can kind of learn
you can kind of start to understand. I think, you know, even
seeing how Tiago is preparing this team in practice,
where he's giving them certain scenarios
or he's giving them certain players.
And he's saying, tell me, you know, what, what the tendencies
of this player are, or tell me in this scenario,
what the right move is keeping them on their toes,
getting them thinking again,
why I think they're thinking a lot here or we're thinking a lot in
this first game is because I think they've
been given a lot of information. It's kind of like
what we saw with the Chicago Bears
when Ben Johnson first got here, right? Like everything
wasn't perfect early on. And we knew that there
were going to be some struggles, especially with
this tough schedule. But on the other side of this,
I think that you're going to have a team
that is able to look at the mistakes,
is able to learn from the mistakes. And hopefully you have a
team that starts to be able to build off of some
of the successes from those mistakes being turned
around it at the end of the day, you know,
it's a tough loss here to start things off.
This is not the way that you want to be competing
by the time you get into the middle of this
season, but for one game
and the first game of everything coming together, this is kind of how
it just ends up going again.
Let me know you guys thoughts down in the comments below. We're going
to be doing post-game shows uh
for every Bulls game during football season so i wanted to do
Bulls live calls it's probably not going to work
as much you know what i mean because of um number
one people really don't like the online play-by-play
and i'm kind of in a space where they can get to
me so i got to be careful with that but number two
and uh most importantly you know like i don't
want to give you guys a stream uh that i'm
not energized for that i'm that my heart isn't in
it's not because of the Bulls it's not because
of you guys being there it's just because i kind of
am being neutered in the sense of can't go out there
and do play by play for the online side
of things so um at the end of the day i think we're just going
to do post-game shows throughout
the year videos like this post-game videos um that will drop
and of course you can catch me
and Hayes live over on Locked On Bulls probably right now
so make sure to tap in with us over
there as well as always though it is your boy Pat
the Designer back at it again y'all stay
safe out there Chicago, see red, one love peace
