Chicago Bears Overcome Their Toughest Test Yet ! | Bears vs Patriots Postgame Reaction
Oct 23, 2026
I understand.
It has to be some rules.
Hey, man, Bears get the dub.
Can't believe that we just watched that game.
Before we get up out of here, first off, Bear Don's in the chat.
Bear Down.
Bear Don's.
What are your takeaways from today's game?
The game never felt out of control.
Honestly, it just felt like a matter of are we going to defeat ourselves?
I mentioned that at halftime.
We cleaned it up.
Rome actually turned it on.
Yep.
So, I mean, all the slander that we had first.
All the slander we have for everybody in this game,
they kind of came back and was like, hey, shut your mouth.
Guess what, I'm gonna talk about you more now.
because maybe it motivates you from a from a
far distance so you know I'm glad to see that it's clicking,
and Caleb actually seems to be
more motivated than ever I've never seen him
this and like uh what's the word animated yeah I've
never seen him this intense,
so Caleb, Caleb is, is Tom Brady intense right yeah yeah over the
last couple of games and I'm loving it Luther Burden went
to talk to the crowd he said get
Get back.
Back in this huddle.
Bear down.
Get the win.
On to the next.
What do you got, Jesse?
I'm trying to look up how many penalties did the Bears have this time?
I got you right here.
Penalties to the day,
Maybe it was six.
was six penalties for 41 yards.
Still a little much.
Still a little much.
But that was actually right up there after.
Yes.
I like the way they responded.
When they needed to make the big play, they did.
I didn't like a few of the uncertain moments where you had players
that weren't reliable,
obviously Rome with the drop and the penalty against him,
and then a few other things like Cairo Santos
not kind of icing the game for us.
But you got out of there with a dub.
He responded with an all-time kick at 58 yards.
It still doesn't mean that I trust him,
but Caleb did what Caleb needed to do.
I mean, you go back to the reason why we have a franchise quarterback.
the last two weeks he's thrown for over 300 yards you continue
to rely upon him he is taking his
game to another level it looks like maybe
his mobility was a little bit better in the second
half he started running a little bit more it
seemed like he was a little bit more confident
in his legs and so i love to see that you build off
of that this was a statement game because new
england was the runner-up last year they actually
yeah i understand they had injuries but they still
are a really good team so this was a really good uh
for me my takeaway is that we had some ups and
downs like we've been going through all year long
but in the end we were able to make the catches by
rome by colston uh we got just enough from our running game
and caleb did what he needed to do
threw the ball on time
and was able to get out this victory the defense showed up we gave away
a couple you know a few plays that we would like
to get back on the defensive side of the ball but
Overall, they played great against the top 10 offense also.
And in totality, I think we played a good game.
Of course, there's always some things to improve upon.
The kicking game kind of came through.
I couldn't even watch that second kick after the first one.
Were you really?
Had your eyes closed?
Yeah, I looked down.
I looked down.
I thought you were going to do it like this.
No, I couldn't do it, man.
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
Exactly.
I couldn't do it because it was so stressful.
This is the cardiac bears again.
I thought we was past this.
But I guess we weren't.
This was definitely a Super Bowl-caliber team that we beat.
And they played like it.
Definitely momentum going forward.
And they played like it, yeah.
And I really look forward to us continuing this win streak.
Listen, this is why I call this a statement game.
You know, even with some of the struggles, even with, you know,
the ups and downs, even with me losing it over Cairo Santos,
you had a team that's able to do the things that you do well
and you did it better.
Like, you played a Patriots team today
that can overcome their mistakes.
You played a Patriots team today, and I know, like,
we haven't talked a ton about them in this manner,
but over the last couple of games,
they have looked like a football team
that, hey, when I had a letdown, I could pick it back up with this.
And you were able to contain what I believe is, I mean,
I know people don't like to hear this.
I'm trying to think.
Who all did we play?
The best quarterback we played this year?
Yeah.
Maybe Jordan?
No.
Maybe Jordan.
I'm going to be good because Bryce Young –
No, no, but, like, this was different.
And the reason I said best quarterback
that we played this year was because
every time we went, we got a guy.
We had him, right?
When we got Bryce Young, like, Bryce Young played well,
but that game got out of hand.
The second half, he wasn't really – like, we had an answer for that.
When we got the Geno in that game, that game was over.
When we got to –
Penix.
When we got to Penix last week, Penix didn't have any answers
until you literally pulled your starters, right?
Like, he had no answers for what you did.
So you figured everyone else out.
You didn't figure out Drake.
Drake may have played a game tonight where you got to –
all you can do is look across the field and tip your hat to him.
And if you're a Patriots fan –
You can't even say you contained him.
321 yards, two touchdowns.
The one interception is really his only mistake today.
He played a great football game, and you were able to overcome that.
And that's what I –
Give a little bit of credit to his running back
that obviously gave him a chunk play at the end of the first half.
that was oh yeah for sure a lot of yards
so that's a that's a 48 yard pass what's the math
on that that's 268 hold on no 268 280 it's 280
because you have 320 you wonder why you can't
do that because Caleb gets the yards
for Luther Burton's touchdown yeah it's the same thing like
Caleb gets all those yards
as well you can't you can't diminish it's my point it was egregious
we should have stopped Remondre
when we had the chance so it wouldn't okay so his job
But even with that, 280 yards, two touchdowns, one interception,
that's a heck of a game.
So, like, I'm saying you overcame a player and a team
with championship pedigree.
You overcame a player
and a team that knows how to overcome their mistakes,
all of the things that you're very good at.
And you were able to come out on the winning end of that
with all of the injuries that you have,
with all of the injuries that they have.
I think both teams leave this game.
Not to say that you have a moral victory,
but you leave this game going,
I gave it everything I got.
And you know what?
Like, it was versus a worse football team, I beat you.
If you're the Patriots versus a worse team than
the Chicago Bears versus most
of the teams in football, because there's
a lot of teams worse than the Bears
in the league now, we win that game.
And you say we had a hard-fought game, but we got to overcome it.
For the Bears, you go, we went against one of the best in football,
one of the best defenses by far, a top-five defense.
you put up 30 on them which is very good to see uh
and you also went up against a offense that
is proving hey even with the struggles that we're dealing
with we can still put up points on you
and you were able to handle that from a defensive standpoint
for most of the game outside of
you know sometimes where it felt like we
gave them easy positioning or we gave them
you know the missed field goal
and that puts them you know a little bit closer can i add a caveat to
But your coach didn't get out-coached.
Vrabel was a Super Bowl-caliber coach.
He's actually taken two teams the distance.
No.
Titans only made it to the AFC.
Yeah, you're right.
But he's gone further than that.
I didn't know if they made it to the title game.
I believe they made it to the title game.
They might have made it to the title game.
He's gone the distance.
Super Bowl-caliber.
He's taken two teams the distance for the most part.
You didn't get out-coached.
Josh McDaniels, you didn't get outplayed in that respect.
Like, your staff as a whole stood their ground,
and the game plan was sound.
And so, like, we couldn't say that against the Packers.
Many people walked away from that game saying,
we got out-coached and out-schemed.
Yes.
It's always good to come away with the win,
but knowing that you have a lot that you need to still improve on.
I know that's still the early part of the season.
It's the second half or second quarter, I should say, of the season.
No, just the first.
The second quarter.
The second quarter of the season.
Second quarter of the season.
Every four games, yeah.
Okay.
But my thing is, like, you cannot go backwards
and revert back to dropping.
Joe says second round.
Apologies.
Second round beat KC.
Just wanted to make sure we got that right.
For the Titans.
For the Titans, yeah.
Second round beat KC.
Go ahead.
But you cannot go back to reverting
to the issues that we had the first year
where it was like, Roman's dropping passes, Luther was dropping passes,
Olamide was dropping passes, DJ was dropping passes.
That was the first year of KC.
Yeah.
Second year of KC.
Oh, okay.
Luther came in second year.
Oh, so my whole point is, like, there were a lot of egregious things
that we really need to clean up in order for this team to truly,
like, get to their – what's the right word?
Pinnacle?
Yeah, get to their potential.
To reach their highest potential.
Drop passes should be a thing that you work on in training camp.
Like, we can't – we got to clean that up.
We got to clean up the penalties because there
are too many times where we get the wrong penalties at the wrong time
when we have so much forward progression.
That's a great point.
Like, to go forward.
So, those are two things.
No, that's that's that's such a great point, because I think, you know,
you look at the penalties and you go, oh, it's only six penalties.
It's only 41 yards on the day.
It was penalties. Oh, I'm sorry. Nine penalties.
So so definitely too many nine penalties
for sixty nine yards on the day.
I think we said six earlier, but you look at the penalties,
nine penalties for sixty nine yards.
There are some of those that are just you got them
on a third and one situation or you got them in the red zone
or you got them where Cairo could have had an easier kick
in one of those plays, right?
Like, there's those moments that you just look at and you're like,
I hate the fact that you took points off of the board
just by not being locked in in that moment.
And I think the Patriots come away with this game feeling the same way.
Ten penalties for 71 yards.
The biggest one is the one on the third and one.
Yeah.
I don't even think Caleb, like you said,
I don't think Caleb hard counted them.
I think he just jumped.
What's the time of possession?
Time of possession, by the way,
this is probably the best game to speak to
about actually seeing the defense on the field.
Time of possession today, 32 minutes
and 24 seconds for the Chicago Bears.
You did win it, but 27 minutes and 36 seconds.
My biggest fear was seeing that defense
on the field for 25-plus minutes.
And there are things that I dislike.
Jalen Johnson looks very bad.
We can say those things.
The defense as a whole is finding a way to get out there
and make plays and look sound, and I love that.
But you also saw the adjustments that New England made
on Kyler Gordon's blitzes and some of the other blitzes from the—
Hey, that was crazy.
That's good coaching.
That's really good coaching.
That's good coaching.
No, because the first one, I was like,
oh, maybe he's not going to do it.
And then after that, we never saw it again.
I don't think he got home again.
He never got home again, and it wasn't any holes.
New England made the adjustments,
and that's what happens with a good team,
and we beat a good team.
So there's definitely always things to clean up.
The Bears are never going to be a perfect team,
and nobody's ever going to have a penalty-less game
and no mistakes, no drops, no nothing,
but you definitely have to clean up where it's acceptable.
There's a certain threshold of penalties and bad plays and drops
that you are able to overcome.
But we don't want to keep having to overcome this.
We don't want to be the cardiac bears of last year.
We want to win these games thoroughly.
And what we don't sit over here sweating,
what we got to pray on a 58 yard field goal
from a guy that can't hit from
45 plus.
So it took me losing my ever loving mind for him to actually,
for this man to hit a field goal of any,
And I'm not saying I had anything to do with that.
But when I tell you, I've lost my mind
on Cairo Santos probably four weeks in a row
for missing like 52 yards, 50, 47.
What's the one he missed the other day?
It was 48, I think.
Like 48 or 43?
I mean this.
It was something crazy.
I mean this.
And right after that.
He kicked for his job right there.
Hey.
He kicked for his job.
And you know, and I'm going to tell you this.
He knew he was going to cut it if he missed that.
I would still have four kickers at Hallis Hall tomorrow.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, you think we joking?
No, you're really kicking for your job.
Yeah.
You should not be comfortable because you are missing.
Because what you don't want it to be.
That kick saved his job.
Yeah, he probably.
That kick earned him a week.
Listen, listen.
That kick earned him a week.
That might get him another week.
I think.
No, because you got to think about it.
Week one and two, we talked about him getting penalty.
Yeah.
Week three, he missed the field goal.
I think week four, he was fine.
Week five, he missed the field goal.
Week six, he missed the field.
Like, it's too many.
It's too many misses.
No, week six, he might have been good.
The Rams cut, they kicked him.
Rams cut, they kicked him.
Yeah, but maybe.
maybe.
Hey, and I ain't going to lie to you.
He was out of shape, too.
This is a completely off-topic conversation.
No, he always looked like that.
That's not new.
Okay.
Yeah, he was drafted like that or picked up like that.
Yeah, he was just a big boy.
But that's another Sean McVay decision that cost him a game.
Sean McVay got three decisions this year that cost him a game.
Oh, he turned into two.
A little bit.
Now, he's a much better play caller by far.
But he's got the travel plans,
his decision to keep Mavis on the team at all
because maybe was terrible last year coming into this.
Mavis was terrible.
And then, like, you opted for what did it end up being that game?
A 50-yard field goal?
Because you just settled it down.
He literally settled for it.
He settled.
And he went to the podium and said it.
which is cool.
That's nice.
You say,
but you only get so many,
my bad.
Welcome to the NFL.
But any,
anyway,
I say all that to say,
I feel very good about what this bears team is right now.
The bears now move to five and two,
and we've got a couple of primetime games coming up.
We got Seahawks next Monday night,
Sunday night,
Monday night,
Monday night.
And then the Buccaneers on Sunday night,
which that might be a tough one,
but that might end up getting flexed.
I don't know if you,
I don't know if you know,
it's too early to flex.
But that's so bad.
No, Baker's coming back because Baker's coming back this week.
So they might be better two weeks from now.
That might be a little bit.
No, but you can't flex.
Yeah, but that was 3:30.
It's too early to flex.
That's a 3:30 game.
You can't flex until the third part of the season.
Yeah, primetime games are different because they buy those games.
But, yeah, man, listen, I say all
that to say you feel good about where this Bears team is,
and you've got some very winnable games coming your way.
And while I believe this is a statement game,
I think you've got a bigger statement game coming.
The Seattle Seahawks, you want to talk about the best defense
that you're going to play?
I love the Patriots, but that Seattle defense is still a problem.
That Seattle defense is containing the run.
Containing the run.
Containing the run because we're kind of back.
No, we're kind of back.
Like, Sam Donald's a pumpkin again.
No, that's because they don't have the run again.
He's no longer a carry.
Because they don't have a running game.
Yeah, but he also looked bad throwing the ball.
Because they had no running game.
It was one-dimensional.
I mean, Drake May didn't have a running game today.
He put up 321.
It's a different team.
He had two games that's on his ability to throw the ball.
And he looked real bad.
He made bad decisions.
Because they had no running game.
Yes.
And even with a running game, he's got the throwing ball.
Kind of a takeaway from today's game, in all seriousness,
is this the game that you look at and kind of say,
hey you maybe saw a little bit more confidence
in Caleb using his legs, I'll be honest with you
no he's still hurt no if I'm Seattle I'm putting
that pressure on you all game yeah I want you I want
you to try to run guess what Caleb can't sustain
that all game he made it in certain pockets but
in certain things he took sacks when he wouldn't
normally take sacks I think he took three two or
Three sacks?
Three sacks?
Today?
Caleb Williams took.
Three bad sacks, though.
Yeah, he took three sacks today.
Three bad sacks.
that he normally wouldn't take
He wouldn't take.
And guess what?
It was because they were getting pressure on him,
and they actually dialed that pressure in.
Seattle can do that.
Seattle's defense is actually primed for that.
Yeah.
Nah.
But you know what?
If I'm watching this tape, and Green Bay kind of did it to him as well.
I mean, Green Bay kind of did it to us.
They didn't do it to him.
But they did it to us.
They put that pressure on the QB.
we're not able to handle that pressure right now
because Caleb is not mobile. I'm going to put
that pressure on him all day. I'm going to let him beat
me with his legs. I'm going to make you beat me.
He ain't going to run all game, but here's
my thing. He will throw, but here's
my thing. I'm not going to
coach for or game plan
that out of Caleb.
Just like what you said. You're not going to
take away Caleb's
instinct to run
like he's been doing this whole year, whole
life, whole career, even in college.
I agree that there's a slow, he's a step slow,
but even on his average, what was he running?
17 yards.
17 miles an hour.
17 miles per hour.
The man can still get it done.
It looked like he kind of got a little bit of a lather.
But it's more of a ginger run.
Let me ask you this.
I take ginger.
He used to have ginger in my food.
I've been juicing lately.
By the way, I got to go to the bathroom.
I've been juicing lately.
And I'll tell you what, ginger's elite.
Are they not better in coverage?
Yeah.
They're much better in coverage.
And they're much better at getting pressure.
Probably, yeah.
It's a really good team in coverage, too.
They are, but Seattle's better.
So at this point, I can live with putting that pressure
and making you beat me with your arm
because I have confidence in my coverage.
I'm looking at the next game as the premier game.
That's going to be the game that tells me where we are for sure.
I don't know.
This one right here was –
This tells you a lot, man.
This was a very elite game.
This is a very elite –
Not even a Thursday game.
This is a very elite team on a short week.
This is by far the best Thursday night football game we've seen.
So far, yeah.
Easily.
Easily.
This is by far the best Thursday.
Oh, that's the Bills playing.
Four and two.
We were four and two last time.
Five and two?
Because we lost the first two games.
We had an early bye.
No, four.
We were four and two.
We had an early bye.
Oh, that's right.
Yeah, four and two.
Because we lost the first two games,
and we won four in a row.
And then we had our bye.
So, but hey, man, listen.
I love it.
I'm glad that, you know, the Bears get the win.
Hopefully, this carries over into next week.
and hopefully the long layoff will help Caleb Williams
to be able to get some much-needed rest on that hamstring
for the better man alive, Mr. P.K.
And, of course, Mr. Medium himself, Jordan J.C.
Mr. Drew better, if you knew better, you'd do better to say.
Who better?
Nobody, bro.
Let me shout out to J. Crip pulling up on us
and coming through to gift us a beautiful Ace of Spades bottle
that we're going to have to finish kid off with.
Let's pop that.
Let's pop that.
Every week, we're going to hear this from now on.
Hey, let's pop that Ace of Spades, man.
Let's pop that Ace of Spades.
We're going to celebrate the Bears.
Yeah, that's it.
He's going to be like, the Bears don't buy, baby.
Let's just crack open that Ace of Spades, man.
I swear to y'all, he's not mad.
The next time he wins Monopoly, he's going to eat it.
Oh, yeah, let's crack open that Ace of Spades.
I'm going to take a photo with him.
I swear to you guys, he's not an addict.
But that brain, he has some addict tendencies.
Hey, man, y'all stay safe out there Chicago.
Red Dawn, one love.
Drop Red Dawns in the chat before we get up out of here, man.
Big shout out to you guys for tuning in to Show of Love.
Peace.
Peace.
Yeah, man.
No doubt.
