Chicago Bears Caleb Williams CALLS OUT Media Over False Reports! Was He Justified?
Oct 16, 2026
Caleb Williams spoke to the media today,
a Caleb that seemed very disturbed, not disturbed,
I would say perturbed, rather.
And as soon as that press conference was over, the internet went
nuts. Let's talk about a couple of these reactions,
because some of them, some of them,
some of them I don't quite get. The media,
in effect, for the last four weeks, has questioned
in large part his toughness, his willingness to play,
his diva mentality has been pegged
this entire time former players have actually sat there
and made repetitive jokes about it
i'll give you a couple some of my favorite
this is i'm gonna start with some of the most recent
ones just just people just trying to find something
to dig at Caleb Williams which again
don't quite get this is coming
from First Take well first things first rather this is Nick Wright
and i'm gonna i'm gonna paraphrase this here
and we ain't gonna get no intro let me jump
straight in ain't no need to have no intro
this is this is one of those moments he said i am
concerned that something like this would get
to him i'm paraphrasing here meaning the scrutiny
he's in a sense questioning his mental toughness another individual
on that same panel had made
it a Ben Johnson issue that this is a coaching issue
the fact that you have something as they
would say tribute like this clearly bothering Caleb
as to what was being said and how he was
being displayed in the media
and things of that nature you have some individuals actually making
him more akin to a not not not necessarily
in a good way a Kevin Durant type player someone who
could probably exist in that space
but clearly is bothered by the things that are said about him
these are the same people
who grew up in an era where we had Michael Jordan and this was actually
mentioned on this panel but Michael Jordan spent
every waking minute finding something to use as
fuel and would hold it against people he's held grudges against people
for decades because of
things said about him he stopped being best friends
with one of his closest Charles
Barkley and Charles Barkley did not speak
for years over something that Charles Barkley said
on a panel and you mean to tell me let's go
to another one Speakeasy Pat hates that show by the
Speakeasy Emilio, T.J. Ward, T.J. Ward
paraphrasing here pretty much said that you're
gonna cry in the car we're gonna hit you you're gonna pop
a hammer you're gonna cry in in the car
basically mind you this is the same T.J. Ward
who was released by the Broncos his beloved Broncos
in 2017 ironically for a hamstring injury
the entire time they've questioned Caleb Williams
ability questioned his not ability his toughness
in these matters whether or not he had it from
that perspective mind you this is the same QB
who was hit 68 times all right let's get to the point
as the media turned on Caleb in a large part i would say yeah
not the Chicago favorites not those
who actually believe in the team
but just those talking heads who just i guess want to have
something to talk about it's like they can poke
and prod but they don't want you to respond and
if you respond you're too emotional you can't handle it
that is not the era we're in mind you
a lot of times these players Caleb Williams
included get get compared to players who did
not have to deal with this level of exposure scrutiny
and accessibility that we as fans have
today the fact that i can sit here on a on a podcast on youtube
and have a hundred thousand
plus individuals listen to what the heck we're talking about
is something that did not exist 20
30 years ago where a lot of our legends played it is not the same
but a lot of these talking heads
came up in that era i'm not going to be i'm
in between right i'm i'm a millennial i'm in between
that gap but they were a lot of these were beat writers
but even players from early 2000s late
like 90s actually speaking on these particular things
and it's actually it's actually kind of
shameful it's actually kind of shameful i'm
not even going to lie about that it's it's one of
the most ridiculous things and it actually goes
to show that many people haven't grown with the
times in my children's era what happens online has just
as much weight as something that happened
to them in person if something about them
is said online they feel it as if it happened because they
grew up in the era where the internet dominated i'm
not saying that that's Caleb Williams but
what i am saying is we need to back up off people
who respond simply because things are being said
about them online let them use as fuel i don't see it
as any different than Michael Jordan running
to the to the newsstand pulling out the newspaper
and trying to find what beat writer or whatever
they're saying about him in the news circuit it
is no different the only difference is it's on your
phone now it's on your phone now it's there it's immediate
and it's amplified you can see it
it's everywhere it's not just local what's
the point too many people are questioning Caleb
Williams in a way that honestly shouldn't even matter it's
a grade two at best or at least let's
say grade two at least injury let's just run it let's just run
this down it only takes a google
search only takes a google search location
of the tear the higher the tear the worse it can be
from the angle that we saw for what what what he
was describing from what that a lot of people have
kind of speculated a lot of people were like Caleb mentioned were wrong
but you can speculate this
if it was a significant tear you're looking
at at the very least a four to six week recovery
if it is a little higher it could
be even more severe especially if he couldn't jog within the
first week it is projected that that is a three
to six month recovery that's the season three to
six months is the season especially
when you are in a division like ours where again he gets hurt
in the division in a rival game he know you pretty
much know you're going to be out for three to four
weeks. He misses the Green Bay game. We lose that.
Even if we have a decent record and a fighting
chance for the playoffs, the fact that the rest
of the division is as tough as it is, no matter
how much credit we want to give them,
your chances of making the playoffs decrease dramatically,
especially when you don't have your star
quarterback. Guess what? With someone who
has the expectations that Caleb Williams has, I might cry too.
I might cry too because it's that
serious. Mind you, this is not his first time dealing
with the hamstring. Now, he didn't have
to deal with it in the middle
of a season something he mentioned in his in his in his
press conference but four weeks in the middle
of the season is impactful especially when you don't
have a bye in between now fortunately the Bears went two
and one and hopefully he's back but even
still i don't even think he should play
that i don't think we should rush him back even for that
because we have to he has to play sunday
then turn around play thursday that doesn't make that's a
level of stress that i wouldn't
because the chances of re-injury of a hamstring especially with someone
who is as mobile as he is is high one in three individuals
who have a hamstring injury somewhat
similar to his without really knowing a specific grade
but just assuming grade two or worse
one in three that's a 33 percent chance of you actually re-injuring
that before the end of the season
is the juice worth the squeeze now here's
the thing i'm probably preaching to the choir most
of you all you you've been rocking with us
this is we are chicago once the chicago ends and so
this is something just to simply combat
the actual negative news cycle that's there but it's amazing
to me that the same people
who would praise him for his toughness to the fact that he actually
wanted to even come to chicago a city that was known
to actually be the death of qb's the one
who's actually willing to take the chance
to turn it around to go through everything he's gone
through to this point and then to be labeled as a cry baby someone
who can't handle someone who
can't take it it's crazy to me it's crazy
to me now listen he is not perfect by any means it is
not without flaws and this is not one of those
glazing moments where i'm going to sit there and
make it seem like he walks on water
but the very the one thing i do know is the dude is tough as
nails he's not going to quit on his team
and for for whatever reason that i guess the painting of
his nails which i don't even see him do a lot of anymore
and if he does who cares that has nothing
to do with the level of injury that he could have sustained
that could derail the progression of
this football team to get where they want to go
when you have high expectations and when you have
high goals you have pressure on you you put pressure
on yourself to do that and when you
say have something interfere
with that and fall short it pisses you off i i'm not going to fault
someone for caring and too many times we
do that we fault people for caring about what it's or what
their situation we fault people for actually trying man cares
and there's absolutely nothing
wrong with that but you leave it
to the national media maybe he can't hack it maybe he can't stay
he can't be in the spotlight maybe he can't handle being
the star all that foolishness has nothing to
do with the simple fact that that man was dealing
with something that could have derailed his entire
season potentially without knowing it potentially
it's crazy it's even crazy coming from former
players who've had injuries where they've pretty
much missed significant amount of time but they
weren't important enough to actually matter to their teams
because some of them didn't even get
back on the field afterwards
but i want to hear your thoughts man i want to hear your thoughts
ultimately this video simply just responded to all the criticism
and critiques that we actually
get from Caleb Williams because it is wild
and what's even more disappointing i end with this
that same criticism and critique is starting
to creep into to Chicago media a little bit just a
little bit that's wild that is beyond me that's beyond me
but i want to hear your thoughts i want
to hear how you feel that the media has responded i want
to hear how you enjoyed or even what your
thoughts were or concerns
if you're concerned about what you heard Caleb Williams say in that
press conference give me your thoughts we love
to hear it in the chat we'll be with you all this
weekend if Caleb plays we will see how he bounces back
the one thing i'll tell you is this and i'm
just keeping a buck with you
if he doesn't look good you said i don't want him to sit out there
and try to tough it out for something that ain't
no call it a wash get healthy we'll retool and
get back at it and you you use all
of this as bulletin board material to get back at all those
people who were just flat out stupid
but again i want to hear your thoughts well let's love what
i say put in the chat i'll be in there with you till next time peace
