The Ukrainian partisan movement ATESH claims to have disrupted Russian drone operations in Russia’s Belgorod region by destroying a communications tower near the town of Shebekino. The group said its agents destroyed a tower equipped with a signal repeater used by Russian forces to maintain communications with drones, guide their movements and control their operations. According to ATESH, the equipment supported the operation of Shahed drones and other attack unmanned aerial vehicles by maintaining communication links, transmitting commands and adjusting flight paths. Its destruction reportedly reduced the drones’ operational range and disrupted signal stability, forcing operators to seek alternative positions and reconfigure frequencies, potentially delaying combat missions. The group said attacks on communications infrastructure could disrupt coordination between drone units, interfere with Shahed drone operations and force Russian forces to devote additional resources to repairs and troubleshooting. ATESH said its agents were carrying out sabotage operations behind Russian lines to support Ukraine’s defence forces, disrupt Russian military operations and, as the group put it, help save lives.
