The village of Tura in Russia's Krasnoyarsk Krai is on the brink of famine. Due to the river's shallowing, food supply disruptions have been occurring there since late July.
The Nizhnyaya Tunguska River is the only route to Tura. All cargo used to be transported to the village along it, but it has become critically shallow, making it impossible to navigate. So-called "winter roads," which are essentially icy mud roads that will allow goods to be transported by truck, will only appear in December. Currently, all logistics are handled by air, but flights are disrupted due to bad weather.
At the moment, store shelves are almost completely empty. The remaining food has increased in price by 343%. For example, a kilogram of carrots is selling for up to 1,200 rubles per kilogram, potatoes for 600 rubles, and a liter of milk costs 700 rubles. Residents are forced to queue for social food products in the morning, even though the store only opens for a few hours in the evening. There are quotas for each person: up to 3 kg of potatoes, up to 2 kg of onions, one head of cabbage, a dozen eggs, and a carton of milk. Police are on duty outside the store.
Recall, a Russian woman who moved from Siberia to occupied Donetsk said she was surprised by the presence of gas in her apartments. She said she had never used a gas stove before and now had to learn how to use one. The story sparked a furious online reaction. It proved highly revealing of the problems with even basic utilities in the Russian Federation. Judging by this girl's story, even temporarily occupied Donetsk, which constantly faces problems with utilities, water, and gas supplies, turned out to be a fairly comfortable city compared to some Russian regions. But a resident of occupied Donetsk showed what everyday life in the city is like after 12 years of Russian occupation. Her apartment has no running water or electricity, and the expensive appliances she purchased after the renovation are practically idle. She plugged in electrical outlets and demonstrated that the lights weren't working. She also showed the kitchen, where instead of using the appliances properly, people had to use a plastic basin. She sarcastically explains that instead of all this expense, she could have just bought a plastic basin. There's a basin in the kitchen, with traces of rusty, dirty water visible at the bottom: " Nothing works! Why waste money on all this? ".
