The Ukrainian defense company FirePoint announced the first launch of a domestic ballistic missile over the territory of the Russian Federation. This is an FP-7 tactical missile with a range of up to 300 km.
This was stated by the company’s CEO Iryna Terek. According to her, work is underway on Ukrainian longer-range ballistics, which will also appear this year.
As a reminder, this month it became known that Ukraine first used a new tactical ballistic missile, the FP-7, in combat conditions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released a video of the missile launch on October 1 and said that after the first combat use, the next stage should be its production. The FP-7 missile was developed by Ukrainian defense company Fire Point . The manufacturer first publicly announced the project in September 2025 , presenting it at the MSPO exhibition in Poland. In February 2026, the company already showed a video of a test launch of the missile from a ground platform.
According to the manufacturer, the FP-7 is designed to engage targets at a distance of up to 200 km. However, Fire Point later announced the possibility of achieving a range of up to 300 km, depending on the mass of the warhead. The maximum speed of the rocket is estimated at approximately 1,500 m/s , and the flight altitude is up to 65 km. The declared warhead weight is up to 150 kg, and the circular probable deviation is about 14 meters. The maximum flight duration is estimated at about 250 seconds, that is, a little over four minutes . The missile is launched from a ground platform and has an inertial navigation system. The FP-7 is a tactical ballistic weapon: unlike cruise missiles, which spend a significant part of their flight on an aerodynamic trajectory, the FP-7 missile, after acceleration, moves mainly on a ballistic trajectory. The high speed in the final part of the flight reduces the time for air defense systems to detect and respond to it.
