The downing of Russian Su-34 and Su-35 fighter jets at the Khansk military airfield in the Republic of Adygea of Russia demonstrates the enemy's shortage of air defense missiles, military expert and founder of the "Reactive Mail" charity Pavel Narozhny stated on Radio NV .

He noted that the airfields are heavily protected by air defense systems, and this situation demonstrated that these systems are not in place. He argued that if there was a serious threat to fighter aircraft, they should have been scrambled and redeployed to other airfields or simply kept in flight.

"Since this hasn't been done, it indicates that, in all likelihood, these Su-34s and Su-35s weren't in working order, meaning they were being dismantled for spare parts. They were 'carcasses,' roughly speaking, 'corpses,' which were dismantled so that other aircraft could operate," Narozhny said. The expert notes that this situation also indicates that Russia is experiencing a depletion of its air defense assets, meaning the enemy simply does not have enough missiles.

"Absolutely all Russian military correspondents are writing about the shortage of missiles for air defense systems, specifically about the fact that their Pantsir-type systems fire fourth-grade missiles, which are dangerous for the operators of these systems, as well as about the serious problems with repairing these Pantsirs," Narozhny added.

Another expert Vadim Kushnikov says that Khansk military airfield, which was struck by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, plays a key role in the deployment of Russian tactical aviation. This demonstrates that the enemy cannot feel safe even at a considerable distance and deep within its own territory. "The Khansk airfield plays a key role in the deployment of Russian tactical aviation in the southern and southeastern directions, as it houses mixed air units that utilize both fighter aircraft—Su-35 and Su-30 aircraft—and Su-34 tactical bombers. "If we look specifically at the pace and intensity of their deployment, this airfield plays a key role in their direct use," he said.

On the other hand, he said, if we look at the pace of strikes by Ukrainian security and defense forces in this direction, in the southern direction, including in the Krasnodar Territory and Kuban, we see that a significant proportion of our operations were aimed specifically at reducing the enemy's air defense potential.

The expert emphasized that if we put all these factors together, we understand the importance of such an operation, which was carried out by operators of the Security Service of Ukraine.

"This truly gives us an understanding that the enemy cannot feel safe even at a significant distance and in significant depth within its territory," Kushnikov noted.

As reported, on the night of October 4, drones launched a massive attack on the Republic of Adygea in Russia, hitting a military airfield near Maikop. The Khansk military airfield, located 6 km from Maykop, was on fire. NASA FIRMS data from geostationary orbit also confirmed the fire. This airfield is used by Russian military aircraft. The distance from the facility to Ukrainian-controlled territory is approximately 500 km.
