Ukraine is actively seeking air defense systems to defend against Russian air attacks. For this purpose, it has purchased a small number of Korkut air defense systems from Turkey, which are said to be successfully shooting down Russian drones, Middle East Eye reports , citing its own sources.

The publication quotes an unnamed Ukrainian official as saying the weapon's effectiveness in repelling Russian attacks. The Ukrainian official notes that there were some initial operational issues, but nothing that couldn't be resolved with minor adjustments.

He added that the price corresponds to the capabilities of the air defense system, so Ukraine is interested in further purchases. According to the publication, the system consists of three anti-aircraft guns and a command post. Interestingly, the publication claims the weapon uses 25mm "smart" ammunition designed to target FPV and fiber-optic drones, which may indicate a specific version.

Defense Express noted that the Korkut 100/25 SB, which was unveiled a year ago, does indeed exist. It is equipped with a 25mm cannon and fires specialized ATOM smart air-burst munitions.

The weapon appears to be a combat module that can be mounted on various platforms, such as 4x4 armored vehicles.

The publication noted that there is reason to believe that Ukraine may have received the Korkut 100/25 SB, which has a firing range of over 1 km and a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute. For detection and guidance, radars with active phased array antennas, thermal imaging cameras, a laser rangefinder, and artificial intelligence-based algorithms are installed.

Media previously reported that, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, some agreed-upon agreements with other countries' leaders on strengthening Ukraine's air defense capabilities remain unimplemented. Zelenskyy added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the Office team will conduct a prompt review of agreements with partners to provide F-16s with the necessary ammunition. He emphasized the critical importance of receiving additional missiles in October. At the same time, the president expressed gratitude to Germany, Norway, Finland, and all other partners who are willing to work as quickly as possible.

Media also reported that the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Ukrainian air defenses shot down more than 80% of Russian Shahed jets for the first time. They cited data showing that on September 30, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 285 attack UAVs, 174 of which were jets. According to preliminary data, during this period, air defenses shot down or suppressed 254 UAVs, 146 of which were jets. Remarkably, the corresponding figure had previously barely reached 40-50%.
