Ukraine has officially approved a strategic plan for long-range operations targeting Russian positions during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine through October, while actively securing additional military equipment for its F-16 fighter jet fleet before the end of the year.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the decisions following joint consultations with the Ministry of Defense and military officials in charge of domestic weapons manufacturing planning. Negotiations are underway with specific partner nations to secure targeted aviation packages aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the coming months.
Simultaneously, defense officials have completed initial operational frameworks for prototype weaponry specifically designed to intercept reactive Shahed drones, establishing production schedules, production volumes, and required funding mechanisms.
“There are specific countries with which we are agreeing on specific aviation packages. Reinforcements will arrive in the near future,” Zelenskyy stated during his address.
Previously, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had developed upgraded long-range drones. These drones can strike targets at distances of up to 3,000 kilometers.
According to Zelenskyy’s address, the new capability was demonstrated during operations inside Russia, including a strike in the Tyumen region. The president linked the announcement to Ukraine’s ongoing campaign against Russian military logistics and energy facilities, stating that long-range strikes are producing tangible effects on Russia’s ability to sustain military operations. Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine continues to conduct medium-range strikes against military targets in temporarily occupied territories. “It is important that this really affects Russian military logistics,” he said.
Fire Point, the Ukrainian defense technology company referenced by Zelenskyy, has previously presented a range of long-range strike systems. At the Eurosatory defense exhibition in Paris earlier this month, the company displayed the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, a platform designed for long-range precision strikes. The statement follows reports of a Ukrainian drone strike on the Tyumen Oil Refinery in western Siberia, located roughly 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine’s border. Russian authorities said air defenses responded to the attack, while local reports and footage circulating online indicated explosions near the facility.
