A fighter jet crashed in Russia's Amur Region. The plane came down near residential buildings. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the information, but the first details and footage from the scene have already leaked to Russian Telegram channels. The plane crashed in the village of Krasnoyarovo, approximately 6,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. A massive fire broke out at the site, and the detonation of either ammunition or military cargo was heard. Local residents captured the footage on video.
"Everything's on fire. And I'm sitting at home and I hear the windows shaking and everything starting to sparkle ," an eyewitness said. The plane crashed just a few dozen meters from her home. There were reportedly seven Russian servicemen on board. Six of them, according to preliminary reports, have been killed. The sole survivor is in moderate condition. The Russian channel Baza claims that a Tu-154 passenger plane belonging to the Ministry of Defense crashed due to a fuel explosion on board. Journalist Ivan Yakovina suggested that there may have been high-ranking military officials on board.
"A Tu-154 belonging to the Ministry of Defense crashed in Russia. Ordinary soldiers and officers don't fly such planes; there was someone especially important on board," he noted . According to another version, the crash involved a Tu-95MS strategic bomber and missile carrier—one of those involved in the massive strikes against Ukraine. This information was published by the well-known Z-military correspondent of "Voevoda Broadcasts." "Three engines failed on takeoff ," the Russian propagandist clarified. Considering the active detonation at the crash site, the Tu-95MS version seems more likely.
A video has surfaced online of the moment a Russian Tu-95MS strategic bomber crashed in the Amur Region. The footage shows the plane flying over a residential area and captured by a private home's CCTV camera. The aircraft's taillights are clearly visible in the darkness. A few seconds later, a bright flash appears, followed by a large column of flame rising upward, illuminating the treetops. Video from the crash site in the forest has also been released. The footage shows the intact tail assembly, surrounded by shattered and burning debris.
Russian military propagandists, as well as the Russian Ministry of Defense, confirm the crash and provide additional details. The Tu-95MS is a strategic bomber capable of carrying cruise missiles. Ukrainka Airfield, where the aircraft was based, is used to train bombers for missile strikes against Ukraine. Tu-95MS strategic bombers and missile carriers have long been out of production. Serial production at the Kuibyshev Aviation Plant ceased completely in February 1992. Russian industry has lost the technological chains and expertise to create new airframes and engines for this type. Assembling a new aircraft from scratch at the plant is impossible. Instead of building new aircraft, Russia is only repairing and partially upgrading the remaining Soviet-built aircraft to the Tu-95MSM modification.
