After Ukrainian drones struck bunkers and hangars at the Tsymbulov drone port in the Oryol region of Russia, some of the UAVs were destroyed. This was reported by the military portal "Military ," whose authors analyzed satellite images of the aftermath of the strikes.
"Some drones penetrated bunkers. Several hits were also recorded, causing detonations and damage to hangars, and debris from destroyed UAVs was found at the launch site," the report said.
The publication notes that Tsimbulova is a large Russian military complex near the village of the same name in the Oryol region, designed for the storage and launch of attack UAVs. Its construction began in August 2024, and the first launches, according to investigators, could have taken place as early as the fall of that year. "As of 2026, the complex has been significantly expanded: satellite images show numerous launch sites, storage facilities, and other infrastructure, in particular for Geranium-4 and Geranium-5," the statement said. Experts explained that the Tsymbulov drone port, located in the Oryol region approximately 180 km from the Ukrainian border, measures 3.5 km by 1.5 km. They noted that, given the drone port's size, the ideal solution would be a strike with ballistic missiles armed with cluster munitions. At its Alabuga complex in Tatarstan, Russia's largest drone-manufacturing operation, construction crews have been excavating underground production halls, with roughly 42,000 square meters of subterranean space already built for planned Geran lines. The project treated both the scale of the excavation and its intended use as its own reading of the imagery. Dnipro Osint concluded that striking the fortified site directly had become counterproductive, describing such attacks as "absolutely impractical from an economic point of view."
Instead, the project identified the drones' production chain as the realistic target set, pointing to: powder plants that manufacture the warheads; chemical enterprises supplying key components; the VNIIR "Progress" plant, whose antennas allow the drones to largely evade Ukrainian electronic warfare.
According to Dnipro Osint, the move underground followed Ukraine's earliest strikes on Alabuga and is advancing quickly. The project noted that the wider Geran ecosystem is becoming steadily harder and more expensive to hit as production shifts underground and supporting infrastructure is dispersed and reinforced.
