While optimistic about the team's playoff chances, the speaker emphasizes the desperate need for Aaron Judge's return to provide offensive leadership and a stabilizing presence in the lineup to secure the AL East title.
We have a lot to discuss today.
Let me know what you guys think down in the comments, but my gosh, man, it's
just one thing after another.
Listen, the Yankees, they are most likely going to make the playoffs.
We can't really argue that the Yankees are most likely going to make the playoffs.
However, the way, how they play sometimes, how they get their butts whipped by the
angels, it was a mix of not playing well, but then a little bit of really
seeming to be lackadaisical play.
And that's what drives me crazy.
It drives me nuts.
Like you're getting paid so much money.
Why?
And Grisham.
I'm getting a lot of backlash today with how he threw the ball in, but I
genuinely just think he was trying to get the ball in and Caballero didn't cut it
off instead of he lobbed it in and went past Caballero to Garcia and that was
that should have went to Caballero.
And I don't think that was on Grisham.
I just think he just threw it in just to get it in there.
Like, wait a second.
He missed the first cut.
I don't think that was on purpose.
I mean, I, I, I could be wrong.
I'm trying to give Trent the benefit of the doubt there because as it is, as we
know, he does play that position a little, a little lax foot, far too lax for my
taste and offensively.
I mean, sometimes he goes really high, but then he comes right back down.
He comes crashing, crashing back down.
And right now Grisham, I mean, he's hitting 209, a 704 OPS over his last 30
games.
He has a 200 batting average over his last 15 games.
He has a 113 batting average.
Sitting one third, they need far more production than that in center field.
He leaves a bit to be desired, put Spencer Jones out there.
And I know Spencer Jones, a lot of people get frustrated with Spencer Jones and
like, I get it, but maybe they're the same.
I don't know.
I mean, at least he puts forth an effort.
I'm not saying Trent doesn't, he has a style of play that he has.
God bless him.
But man, it just, it gets frustrating sometimes.
And that's why this news that we're going to talk about right now is very
important.
Aaron Judge could return as soon as September 8th, which is in a week.
Now I'm not expecting all of our problems to be fixed just because Judge comes
back.
But what I am expecting is I'm expecting to have a guy in there who can have some
type of presence, which he will.
He's the best offensive player in baseball.
And I'll stand by that to this day.
He's going to have his just sheer presence that he's always had.
You're not just going to pitch to Aaron Judge.
You're not going to give Judge something to hit.
Now this is going to be a mini spring training for him before the playoff
start, but then once an Aaron Judge starts to cook, you can't stop him.
And I think Yankees fans kind of forget that about him.
Once he gets going, you can't stop the man.
And that's what this frigging lineup needs that needs it so damn bad.
And we, and they know it.
Joel Sherman hit it right on the head, man.
My gosh, he hit it right on the head.
He hit the nail on the head there saying around September 11th, he's reading in
between the lines.
No one really exactly told him that all of a sudden we get news that judge could
be back as soon as September 8th.
Trump.
Awesome news.
Wonderful news.
Desperately need it.
Is he going to DH probably?
But then Spencer Jones, does he, does he get optioned?
If Spencer Jones gets optioned, which I think would be ridiculous, what other
moves can they make?
McMahon just came back today.
So that's good.
I guess, is it good?
I mean, he's a really good defender, but outside of that, thank God judge is
coming back.
Schreiber was added to the roster today too, alongside McMahon.
So those are the two additions.
So you've got to move a player out to, to add Aaron judge.
And it might be Jones.
Now George Lombard jr.
Could see an IL stint.
Well, that sucks.
What I really want to talk about is David Bednar for a second.
I understand he has it.
He didn't pitch in like 10 days.
I get it.
He didn't pitch in 10 days.
Okay, fine.
But you just left them out there.
You left them out there to dry.
Now he couldn't just throw a bullpen session.
You had to throw him in the game where you were losing and I get it.
Not a lot of people were available in that game.
That's what the excuse was anyway.
So you throw Bednar.
I mean, listen, I get it.
He hasn't thrown on a while.
Understand that.
I hate the reasoning though.
I hate the re you, you, you, you brought him out.
You left them hung out there just to fricking to die.
Basically.
He inflated his, you rose his era rose because of that appearance.
Frickin wild, man.
It's just nuts.
How some, how they run this team.
Sometimes three earned runs, 28 frigging pitches, almost 30 pitches.
Bednar through almost 30 pitches.
He couldn't take him out.
He couldn't do that in the bullpen.
He worked so damn hard to bring his whip down.
It raised a little bit, but my gosh, I had hair.
I can't get out of my scalp.
I have hair.
It's just on the sides.
Piss me off.
It's just, you know, I don't want to have a reason to be mad.
I really don't.
I kind of hate that.
And Bednar has been having a good season.
Of course he needed to throw.
Yeah.
And apparently nobody else have imagined Mariana walking out there in a six,
one, seven, one game.
And then you just leave them out there because he hasn't pitched in 10 days.
And because supposedly you don't have another option.
Louie's heel.
A lot of people weren't very pleased with his outing.
I hope he, he, I hope he translates like everybody else.
I hope he translates just the sloppy play the S and nine alignment.
Sometimes it's just drives me crazy.
And then George Lombard jr.
He could see an IL stint.
It's like, if he's going to be day to day for five days, just throw him on the aisle.
I know it's retroactive.
Like I get it.
Just throw them on the aisle.
Like just, just do it.
Rip the bandage off.
Do it.
Add somebody else.
Add Anthony Volpe.
If you want, add us Waldo.
If you want.
Remember those guys?
Memory, Anthony Volpe.
Of course you guys do.
Of course you do.
Anthony Volpe showing some pop down there and Scranton his last 15 games.
Is that Scranton's numbers or majors?
I think it's majors.
I don't think it's Scranton's numbers.
He's got eight home runs down there at Scranton in 29 games, eight 17 OPS.
I like that.
That's great news.
Swinging for some fricking power down there.
He's played third base.
He's played second base, but you may need them up here for Lombard if he's hurt.
Now as Waldo talk about him, 17 home runs.
He really, he started off really slow in the minors.
He started off, he started off really slow.
It's got 17 homers right now hitting 286, 786 OPS.
I think he got his confidence back.
Genuinely think he got his confidence back.
If their first month of play was hitting 173, then in May, 275 in
May, 367 in June, 362 in July, 261 in August, August was his worst month
since the first month of the season.
He's been hitting, doing well down there.
Do we see him instead of Anthony Volpe?
You could, I guess.
My issue is this guys come playoff time.
We have to have this stuff ironed out.
They have to, they have to have the alignment correct.
Everything has to be correct.
And I kind of feel like sometimes with this team, they're not, they're four and
a half games out right now.
I need them to win.
I need them to win the American league East.
I need them to win it.
If they win the American, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this at the New York
Yankee, somehow when the American league East, I guarantee they will make it to
the world series, but they have to win the American league East.
If the Yankees win the American league East, they're making it to the world series.
You don't want to play Tampa Bay at home in the playoffs.
I'm not scared of anybody.
Only thing I'm scared of is them.
And I'd rather be at the stadium.
If we meet them at all in the playoffs, I'd rather be at the stadium.
We felt that last year with Toronto.
I'd rather be at the stadium.
All right, guys.
Thank you so much for watching.
Check out my last upload.
I covered the John Schreiber signing.
Thank you guys so much.
Take care.
