Ukraine is gradually developing its unmanned aerial vehicle technology, allowing it to launch increasingly effective strikes against Russian territory. Specifically, Ukraine recently developed the heavy-duty "Mammoth" drone, which can fly a distance of 2,400 kilometers, according to article.

The publication added that Ukraine began developing its own long-range weapons after most of its Western allies refused to supply it with long-range missiles due to fears of escalating the conflict with Russia. The An-196 "Lyuty" drone that carried out the strike initially had a range of approximately 1,000 km and a payload of approximately 20 kg. It can now fly over 2,000 km and carry 34 kg.
According to the Polish military analysis firm Rochan Consulting, Ukrainian drones and missiles struck Russia's critical infrastructure only four times in 2023. By 2025, this number had grown to approximately 178, and from the beginning of the year through August 23, to approximately 285 strikes.

The publication noted that Ukraine's growing drone production is creating problems for Russia and overloading its air defense systems. In January 2024, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced it had shot down 110 drones over Russian territory and occupied Crimea. By July of this year, that number had risen to 13,338 drones, or 430 per day.
Specifically, the Ukrainian company Fire Point plans to produce 300 FP-1 drones per day, approximately eight times more than last year. Culver Aerospace, meanwhile, plans to produce 14,000 drones this year.
The publication emphasized that the secret lies in the fact that many Ukrainian drones are assembled from parts typically found at a hardware store. For example, the wings of some Culver Aerospace models are cut from wood and then filled with insulating foam. The propellers are carved from oak, which absorbs radar waves. The publication added that Ukraine also has its own cruise missiles, such as the R-360 Neptune, which can fly over 1,000 km with a payload of approximately 260 kg. Oleg Korostelov, CEO of the LUCH design bureau, which developed the Neptune missile, told reporters that approximately seven out of ten of these missiles reach their targets. He emphasized that the Ukrainian Defense Forces deserve much of the credit for these recent successes.
