Former Russian State Duma deputy and Z-writer Zakhar Prilepin complained that Russia cannot win in Ukraine. The Russian occupation army's offensive has been effectively paralyzed by drones. He stated this in an interview with pro-Russian German propagandist Patrick Baab. When asked how the war would end, Prilepin answered frankly: not with a victory for Russia.
"It won't end in anything for now, because it's at a dead end. Offensive operations are practically impossible: the skies are oversaturated with drones," declared the Z-patriot. In addition, Prilepin stated that Putin no longer controls the war. He spoke of the terrible price Russia and Ukraine are paying for the so-called "SVO." Prilepin stated that the war against Ukraine has already claimed the lives of millions of people and will soon equal the number of casualties suffered during the Great Patriotic War.
"We're still paying the price of war. A huge price! Think about it for a second. We had the Great Patriotic War, a pitch-black war, we were simply buried under corpses, we lost 5-6 million of our soldiers, the rest of the dead were civilians. Just look at current events. I'll round it up and say that Russia and Ukraine lost 2 million people in this war. 2 million people! And I assure you, if it continues for a while longer, and it will, we'll actually reach that level... Exactly the same thing is happening now! Exactly the same thing! The same order of numbers, the same order of deaths, the same killing machine at work," Prilepin said. To soften the harshness of his statements, the Z-patriot began to claim that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin was supposedly not to blame for what was happening because he no longer controlled the war he himself had started. "Of course, this isn't Vladimir Vladimirovich's fault, because it's impossible to control! These are vast territories, and we don't even know what's going on in those cities... That's the price. We don't even understand it! Well, because it's far away, there are some reports somewhere... And this is pitch-black war, simply pitch-black," Prilepin stated.
At the same time, Prilepin does not condemn Soviet policy, but, on the contrary, calls it more effective than the Russian Empire’s actions towards Russification. The blogger believes that the acknowledgment of these facts by one well-known Russian propagandist is an important and highly revealing example of a shift in the rhetoric of Z-patriots of the Russian Federation. Increasingly, theses are being heard in Russia that contradict everything state propaganda has been broadcasting for years.
