Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the possibility of the IDF resuming military operations against Iran in the near future. This was reported by the i24News TV channel.
"We're not done yet. All our systems, under my directive, are working to overthrow this regime and destroy it. If Iran decides to attack us, they know it will be one of their last decisions," Netanyahu said.
As a reminder, Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that Iran might attempt a strike during the holidays, emphasizing the country's preparedness for a possible attack. The conference brought together representatives of various political factions, current and former high-ranking officials, security officials, academics, economists, researchers, and civil society representatives.
The conference will feature discussions, interviews, and panel discussions on the most important issues affecting the country's development. Continued confrontation over Iran could lead to a new escalation on Israel's northern border. Tehran is not currently interested in escalating the war, but Hezbollah could become a tool of pressure if the current strategy ceases to yield results. Raz Zimet, head of the Iran and Shiite Axis program at the Institute for National Security Studies, made this assessment on 103FM. According to him, Iran is attempting to increase pressure on the United States and its regional allies, and the consequences of this policy are already being felt in Lebanon. The expert believes that involving Hezbollah is unlikely to be Tehran's next move. However, the likelihood of such a scenario will increase if the current instability persists and Iran's leadership decides that further escalation is necessary to change the situation.
At the same time, according to Zimet, Tehran's ability to influence the actions of the Lebanese group is significantly greater today than before. Despite this, expanding the geographic scope of the conflict does not yet serve Iran's interests.
Zimet also doesn't directly link the recent drone launch toward Israel to Tehran. He believes this episode is more related to the ongoing tensions around the Ali Taher Ridge.
The expert also drew attention to events in the Persian Gulf and the renewed exchange of strikes between Iran and the United States. Just a few weeks ago, it seemed that US President Donald Trump was relying primarily on economic pressure, while Iran had reduced its attacks against tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. However, recent events have shown that this situation may be short-lived. Iran, according to Zimet, has no intention of voluntarily giving up one of its main levers of pressure—control over the Strait of Hormuz.
