A massive fire broke out at the Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University after an attack on the night of August 3rd. This institution developed and tested drones .
According to the Russian Telegram channel Astra , authorities have not yet commented on the aftermath of the attack on the university. Throughout the night, the local task force warned residents several times about the threat of drone strikes. The institution's expertise in drone production is confirmed by its official materials. According to the university's Telegram channel, it designed an automated drone control system based on the Milandr microprocessor.
The university itself insisted on the civilian nature of this development: the stated purpose of the system is monitoring power lines, heating mains, and aerial photography. Specialized education for minors has become a separate focus for the institution. In the summer of 2026, BSTU announced the recruitment of schoolchildren for summer sessions in a course dedicated to unmanned systems.
"In the 'Digital Engineering of Unmanned Aircraft' course, children are immersed in the fundamentals of unmanned systems design," the Shukhov State Technical University Telegram channel reported . As reported, explosions rocked the aggressor country of Russia on the night of July 31 and Friday morning . A Wildberries logistics warehouse and the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery in Volgograd were attacked. Simultaneously, drones struck the company's logistics center in Zelenodolsk, and a massive fire was reported at the Nizhnekamsk refinery after a series of explosions.
