Blocking logistics in the north of temporarily occupied Crimea is not currently part of Azov's mission during attacks on enemy army supplies in southern Ukraine, but it is entirely possible. This was stated anonymously by an officer of the First Corps of the Azov National Guard to LIGAnet. Azov fighters are known to continue to carry out drone strikes against Russian logistics on the Mariupol-Taganrog and Mariupol-Volnovakha highways. The First Highway is one of the main supply routes for the occupying forces in southern Ukraine. According to a corps officer, the main operational impact of the strikes on this logistics network is the reduction in military supplies to the Russian brigades. According to the military man, the invaders' units are forced to "cut corners on everything," and this, one way or another, affects the situation on the front lines. "The enemy shoots less, flies less, and moves less," the fighter emphasized. Regarding whether strikes on supplies could lead to a blockade of Russian logistics in the north of temporarily occupied Crimea, the Azov officer emphasized that such a goal is not in place. However, he noted: "It's more of a nice bonus."
As the military man emphasized, the Azov battalion's main task is to reduce military supplies to enemy troops located in the corps' operational zone, and the blockade of Crimea is a "collateral effect." "Yes, this is a strategic-level effect, and the enemy reacts very painfully to these attacks. How realistic is it to completely cut off the Crimean Peninsula's logistics along this road? It's entirely possible, even with existing resources—it all depends on how focused our efforts are on solving a specific problem," he said. Earlier, Russian-Ukrainian war veteran Yevgeny Dykyi spoke about the cutting of the highway from Donetsk to Crimea . According to him, the Defense Forces are gradually creating a so-called kill zone up to 200 kilometers from the front line. "And this is one of the turning points in the war. That this 200-kilometer zone beyond the destruction zone ceases to be a zone of quiet logistics, ceases to be a shelter zone. But it effectively becomes an expanded destruction zone. Not one where they can hunt down every single one of their soldiers. But one where trains no longer pass. And it is precisely on the railway that all their serious logistics are based," Diky emphasized. At the same time, a military expert revealed the air defense situation in occupied Crimea. He noted that the Russian army on the peninsula is experiencing a shortage of missiles for the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun systems. Since March, local Crimean public groups have frequently reported that during Ukrainian drone strikes, the Pantsirs remain silent, with only the sound of automatic and machine gun fire audible. A Crimean military expert, a former Ukrainian officer and a retired lieutenant colonel, noted on condition of anonymity that the SAM system commanders found themselves in a difficult situation: they now have to determine the "importance" of a target and whether it is worth using scarce missiles.
