Today started out like any other busy day in Michigan, but we ended up getting some not so great news at the vet. We took Memphis in for her regular blood work to check on her liver levels, which we've been monitoring every three months for over three years now. Unfortunately, the results came back ridiculously high, and her ALKP, ALT, and GGT levels are not where we want them to be. We are doing everything we can to stay positive, and next Wednesday she will be going back in for a chest X-ray, abdominal X-ray, an ultrasound of her liver and gallbladder, and a clotting test to see exactly what's going on.
To help offset some of these sudden veterinary costs, we are getting some special "Protect the Memphis" merch ready, and we'll also have her GoFundMe linked below for anyone who wants to help out. Please remember to be kind in the comments below, as this is incredibly hard on Jamie and I. We truly view you as our family, and going through this together means the world to us. Memphis is 13 years old, and while we wish we had a magic potion to make her live forever, right now we are just focusing on keeping her comfortable, happy, and loved.
Despite the stressful news, life in the backyard keeps moving! The Michigan weather went from a humid 80 degrees straight down to a freeze warning in a matter of hours, and Jamie has been working hard on the pool cover and fixing up the fence for our backyard baby birds. Plus, Eleanor and I are getting ready to head out on a special solo road trip to Indiana tomorrow for an event! It's going to be so weird traveling with just one Siberian Husky, but we are going to bring you guys along for the whole ride.

What what what you rolling in? She says, I don't know but it's amazing. Well, good wonderful beautiful morning Pawdience.
We're at the vet for Memphis's blood works and stuff. I forgot to get a clip before I left the house.
But we're here now. What do you think Miss Ma'am?
So yeah, we're here and we're gonna do some blood work and we're hoping for better results than last time.
That's what we're hoping for. I just weighed her and she weighs
53.7 pounds, which is pretty good for you Memphis. That's pretty good.
Made it in the room. They just took her back to do the draw.
What do you think? Did you see all your friends back there?
I know, you got to see all your friends when we pulled up. My mom and dad were here with Indy.
So she got to see Miss Indy who was getting a checkup. I didn't even realize they were gonna be here today.
So that was pretty funny.
Now we wait.
Back from the vet with not the news we wanted.
So instead, let's look at this. I'm not walking over here, but check it out. If I come way over here, can you see it?
Can you see?
The bed of grasses. I guess those would be
baby closures
instead of baby grasses or both.
But it's starting to fill in. It's still gonna have to stay like this for a long time.
But maybe, just maybe, we get some stuff to grow. You think we're gonna get another crazy thunderstorm again today Memphis?
It's already 80 degrees out here.
We might.
Jamie's working on the pool, but he remembered to shut the gate this time. So no entrance. You can't go in there.
But holy cow, it's humid and windy and I don't know, we might get another storm today.
Probably not like yesterday, but we will see.
You coming Kira?
It's hot out here. Come on. I know it's hot. It's muggy.
All right, come on, let's go. Come on. Yeah, there's ACs on in the inside. I know we went from heat to AC.
It's a little crazy, but that's Michigan for us, huh? That's Michigan for us.
All right, so let's see if I can get through a quick update on Memphis without crying. Don't cry guys.
Or cry. You know, if that's what makes you feel better, then that's okay, right? Say that's okay.
So we took her in today for her blood tests, which we've been doing every three months to monitor her liver levels and
today, so normally her ALKP has been high, but her ALT and her GGC have been holding and
I don't know, maybe, Dan,
can you like maybe put definitions of those three things over here while I was talking of the
ALKP and the ALT and the GG,
GGT,
GCT. I'll make sure you get the right ones. Anyway, they were
really high. Her ALKP has been really high,
but her ALT and the other number are high as well and actually I'll just put them on the screen
so I don't have to remember what they are.
What does that mean?
We don't know. It could mean a lot of things. Memphis has had high liver levels for just over three
years now. Yeah, gosh, really? It's been three years? Yeah, so just over three years now. Happens in older dogs.
Sometimes there's an explanation, sometimes there's not. If you guys haven't been here,
she's just drinking all the water because we were outside and it was warm.
I should have waited till she laid down.
I know, whatever. This is what it is.
So if you guys have been around for a long time, then you probably remember that we've done so many different things.
We've done bile duct tests. The only test we stopped at was the liver biopsy.
It's the only one we didn't end up doing, which
by the time we got to the point where we were gonna do that test,
it really wouldn't matter much what a liver biopsy said or didn't say.
But that being said, because her levels are so ridiculously high, they want to do, it looks like next week Wednesday,
they're gonna squeeze her in and they're gonna do a chest x-ray. They're gonna do like an abdominal x-ray.
They're gonna do another ultrasound of her abdomen area,
so where her liver's at and
her gallbladder and those types of things.
And then they want to do a clotting test, just to make sure that her blood is still clotting properly.
And then they want to test her
ALB, her ALB.
It's like Albirum.
Her ALB.
We didn't have enough because they had to...
When they did her blood draw today, they have to like spin it and because her levels are high,
they have to dilute it and spin it again.
So we didn't have enough left today and we didn't want to take more from her.
To do the ALB test. So we're gonna do all that next Wednesday. Now,
her liver levels are ridiculously high. Putting Memphis underneath is a very terrifyingly scary thing. But Memphis,
thankfully, is pretty dang calm. Like she'll stay pretty still if you're rubbing her belly and holding her and petting her. So our
plan, tentatively, is we're gonna give her
Trazodone before the
appointment, which should chill her out even more. And then they're gonna give her...
They're gonna try not to give her any sedation medication at all.
But if they do, it'll be like a small, small amount of the Twilight.
So she won't be going fully under and we'll talk about this more next week.
I don't want to talk about it at all right now, but you know, it is what it is.
This is real life, everybody. And I know so many of you are gonna be like, oh no,
Memphis, she's 13 guys. She's 13.
I can't save her. I wish I could. I'm gonna give you this potion and you're gonna drink it and you're gonna live forever.
If I had it, I would. I know this is hard on
everybody. But just remember,
when you go to leave your comments,
remember how hard this is on Jamie and I as well. So be kind, everybody.
Be kind. And I mean, if you've been through this before and I'm not saying don't give advice or things like that,
like if you've been through this before and you have something that maybe you think we haven't tried, even if we have, but you don't
know that we have, comment it. That's okay. I don't mind that. You know, I'll read through what I can. Just please be kind.
That's the biggest thing I ask. Be kind. We're all...
Technically, we're all going through this together because you guys are a part of the Pawdience. You...
You're family. You're the dog's family. You're our family. You know, we've been doing this...
Gosh, we've been doing it with the dogs on the dogs channel since 2009. So, you know,
we're family, right? At this point, we're family. So yeah, I don't want to talk about it anymore.
Let's go on to whatever the next thing is. Look, there's birds and they're almost ready to jump out of the nest.
I should go set the GoPro up and see what I can catch. Oh, no, that's not what I have to do.
I have to go ship out orders. I have to go pack some orders and ship them out.
I gotta show you guys another cool 3D print thing. Side note, and now that I still don't want to talk about it,
but I am gonna talk about it. There is Protect the Memphis merch coming to help offset some of her veterinary costs.
I was gonna use it to buy her a PEMF mat, which I still might, but like next Wednesday's
procedure is gonna be $1,000. We spent $300 today. Don't! Don't worry about it. I know everybody's on hard times.
Please don't feel like you have to do anything, but I am gonna link her GoFundMe
where I've been updating some of her stuff down below. Again,
don't feel like you have to donate anything, but it's there for those of you that want to help.
Also, all of the membership money does go into the dog's
emergency vet fund. In case you didn't know that, that's actually what I use the membership money for and I know some of you guys are
upset because, oh, you're missing out if you're not a member. You're not really missing out.
I try to do one members only video a month and it's usually like
longer versions or behind the scenes of things that you've already seen for the most part.
So, please don't feel like you're missing out. Can you tell that I'm rambling? Can you tell it?
It's been a crazy day and there's baby birds. What else happened today?
I didn't get it on camera, but I saved a dog that I was sitting in here feeling
sorry for myself in Memphis and it just went running down the street and that was a great distraction.
I blasted out the door and I caught the little Jack Russell Terrier that belongs to the neighbors that
escaped from their garage when his wife came home and opened the garage door. So I saved a dog today. That was kind of fun.
Okay, now I get to show you.
Some of you guys might remember we did these hummingbirds last year
but then we had problems with them and so many of you were asking when we were gonna reprint them and we couldn't because we
couldn't get them to work.
Jamie got them to work. They may have different color heads because it's color changing so you never really know which ones.
I think we have some purple ones and some green topped ones and then
we did have these ones which did have an issue up here.
See how the beak is not perfect. These will be sold at a cheaper rate and we will call them misfits.
So there's a couple of these available as well. In our Etsy shop, you should definitely go check it out.
I hear the train.
The backyard is trying to look like a backyard and the storm that was supposed to hit earlier
completely missed us. Now it says there's one coming around six o'clock.
Which sucks because we usually walk the dogs around
seven, a little after seven, because that's when it gets a little cooler.
But it looks like it might be raining by then.
It is still pretty warm out because the rain didn't come and cool it off and he did it.
She says no, it's still pretty warm out.
So we're gonna hang out here in the yard for a little bit.
What are you doing Miss Al?
What are you doing? Are you ready to go on a trip with me tomorrow? Just you and me? This is gonna be so weird.
Eleanor and I are going on a trip tomorrow.
We were supposed to be taking the RV and we were all gonna go, but the RV is not ready.
We also didn't know if Memphis could stand at the event I have to go to for super long.
So and then I really want to take Kira, but if I take Kira
Eleanor will go crazy and
Memphis might go crazy.
But if I leave Kira with Memphis these two do perfectly fine together.
Kira might be a little bit upset that Eleanor's gone, but not as upset as if
Eleanor stayed home and I took Kira with me. I hope that all made sense.
So I'm gonna take Eleanor with me and her and I are going to Indiana.
It's only like a four and a half five hour drive to get down there.
So we're gonna go do that and go to an event and don't worry. We will bring you along.
It'll be super fun and it's getting windy again.
Hopefully nothing like the storm from yesterday.
Yeah, so it should be super fun and we will bring you guys along.
Jamie will have the camera here to vlog while he's home and I'll vlog the trip, I guess.
I've never done a me and Eleanor only trip since she was a puppy.
So, I guess we're gonna see how she does.
What did you find?
Are you gonna...
Are you gonna roll in something?
Watch her.
What did you find?
She doesn't want to eat it.
She's sniffing.
I'm assuming it's something from when it rained. I'm assuming it's a worm.
No, no rolling in it. Just sniffing and looking.
Huh?
I see...
nothing.
Huh, I don't know what it was. Are you gonna roll in something?
Yeah, it smells amazing over here. We're gonna roll in all the things.
I don't know what they're rolling in Kira. I guess they didn't actually roll in anything. I don't know what they're snoofing.
Oh, man.
That sky's dark over there.
But not so bad over here.
Guess we'll see what happens. Oh, you are gonna roll in whatever she was snoofing.
So you're rolling in whatever Memphis was...
trying to find. What is it?
What you're rolling in?
She says, I don't know, but it's amazing and I want to smell like it.
Yeah?
Look out Kira. She's gonna get you. Yeah, she's gonna get you.
The tree!
Oh wait, I know why. Because that way I can turn and look at the sky this way.
Maybe. Maybe that rain actually is coming. I don't know.
Jamie was working on the pool cover again.
It yesterday or no, day before yesterday and today have been warm enough to open the pool.
But we don't have it. It's not heated yet. So Jamie's been working on it.
He's got the pump turned on. So it is pumping water through.
So hopefully, hopefully soon we can get the pool open so the dogs can go in it.
If it gets warm again before it's ready,
we might have to get the little pool out and let them play in that. Because that sounds like fun.
What are you doing?
Oh my goodness.
Memphis is going back towards the house. She's like, all right, it's humid out here mom. I'm going back this way.
All right, I guess we'll go back this way. Jamie, look at your dog.
Look at her.
She is so happy right now.
It went from
79 degrees
to I don't know the thermometer. Oh my god.
Thermostat thing. It's not a thermostat. It's a thermometer.
The thermometer showing the backyard temperature.
Oh, that's only a thermometer.
This is a thermostat and a thermometer.
Yes.
There's a thermometer right there.
It shows that it's colder.
The thermometer, which is what I wanted to call it, said that it was 60 degrees already.
Yeah, didn't we have a freeze warning?
Yeah, you just informed me that there's a freeze warning tonight.
Yeah.
It was 80 degrees.
I'm watching these clouds because this is tornado weather.
Yeah, fun.
It's really hot and really cold.
I tell you, these clouds were just coming at us.
Yeah.
Now they're going that way.
Yeah, it's a little crazy.
Also, I don't know if I said it earlier, but I meant to.
So we can probably show it now.
But the baby birds are getting bigger and I got a couple clips of them today as well.
And Jamie made their little fence a little bit bigger.
So hopefully they will not fall out of the nest.
Yeah, hopefully they won't leave that nest until they can fly.
Hopefully they won't leave today anyway.
Yeah, well, maybe that would help them fly.
Yeah, maybe.
Kira's just so happy.
Yeah, they have been.
Kira, she's so happy.
I might have just missed him.
Oh, there he is again.
Eleanor sees him.
He's so hard to, oh, he's right here.
Eleanor.
Be nice.
I know, I see him.
He's right on the other side of the bushes.
Hopping right, there he goes.
Oh, he's going to go to the side of the house.
Did you see that, huh Eleanor?
Yeah.
Did you see the bunny?
He come right up and said hi to you, didn't he?
Funny bunny.
Yeah.
Funny bunny.
It rained and got windy.
And now, as we were saying earlier, it's cold.
Ready? Go!
It is cold.
And still windy, apparently.
But we're getting ready to go ahead and call it a night.
Because Eleanor and I have a trip to take tomorrow.
We'll take you guys along.
We hope you guys enjoyed today's video.
As always, thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for subscribing. Stay positive, dream big.
And we will see you again soon.
Goodnight Pawdience.
My happy Memphis girl.
