Walking The Dogs Through A Flood Zone 🌊

It is another day of crazy flooding here in Northern Michigan, and things are getting a bit wild in our neighborhood! We are taking you along as we check on the house, the basement, and our local walking trails. We actually found water in our well room downstairs, so Jamie has been running the pump on a timer to keep the basement dry. It’s a constant battle against the water right now, but we are feeling very lucky compared to some of our neighbors and family members who are dealing with finished basements full of water.
In today's vlog, we head out to see just how high the river has risen. We usually go biking and even jump off the bridges in this area, but right now, the water is so high that the bridges are almost touching the road! We even discovered a "waterfall" where the river is rushing over areas that are usually dry land. The Siberian Huskies, Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor, are definitely wondering why their favorite walking paths are currently underwater, but they are still finding plenty of mud to get into!
Despite the soggy conditions, we managed to get a mile-long walk in with the pack. We check out the local "Scitec Park" area and see the incredible power of the rushing river. From sandbags at neighbors' houses to hearing the spring peepers loud and clear through the floodwaters, it’s a day we won't soon forget. Life is short, make memories with your dogs—even if those memories are a little bit muddy and wet!
