THE FLOORING REVEAL and Oakley Zoomies | Pergo Outlast

Look at you, lazy bum. Can you tell everybody good morning? Say, oh, I don't know. Good morning, guys. I'm napping. There's a giant mess in here. Yeah. So everybody wants to know how the office remodel is going. It's going, it's going. See what Jamie's doing? That looks fun. I can't get to the corner. Once I get to the corner, well, I don't know how about around the pipe. They should have already cut the carpet for around the pipe and they should take this off so I don't damage it. You notice the carpet comes up, but this stuff doesn't. Oakley! Oakley's upset she can't see me. Hi, baby. Oakley! So there's this like, what is that? Glue down? Yeah. Foam stuff. Yeah, foam padding. They used to use it. I don't, do they still use that stuff? On this short Berber carpet they do. Do they? It's, it's more like a doctor's room or a dentist's room or something like that. So it's supposed to last a long time and it probably would last a long time. It's just ugly. Yeah, right? Thank God it lasted a long time. This is the prettiest carpet you've ever seen. Oh, Memphis made it in here. So we've got to scrape all the stuff up off the floor and then Jamie's got the shop back in here and he's like vacuuming as he goes and I guess that's the last real step for prep, huh? For the new floor. Well, we got to bring the new floor in and let it acclimate. Make sure that it gets to temperature. Well, got the rest of it off the carpet or off the floor, so pretty much all done. I mean, there's a little bit thicker spots. I got to hit over there a little bit. Oh, he's excited. There goes the moat. Memphis is like, I'm gonna kick your butt. Shelby, are you telling her to be calm? I don't think it's gonna work. Oakley's feisty. Shelby's being feisty too. There she goes. Both of her moats fell. Pillow fell. Blanket's gonna fall. She like jumped off the back of the couch that time. And she's done. Are you done or are you faking it? So Shelby will leave you alone. Kick her butt. What's wrong Memphis? Is daddy in here working on the floor? Yeah, is he? Is he in here working on the floor? You guys can't come in here while he's working on the floor. They're like, but please, please can we? No, you have to wait. Sorry, honey. Alright you guys, so this part of this vlog is gonna be a little bit different. As if you can't tell, I'm in the office that you guys have been seeing us remodeling and there is flooring on the floor. I'll get to that in a minute. We're gonna show you guys how it got there. While we were redoing the office, we were doing a lot of research on what type of flooring to get for our house. We actually have pergola flooring in the dining area at the deli and I've always loved it. And it's actually been in the deli for 12 years. So that was kind of one of my picks when I was going through and trying to figure out what kind of flooring to get. We were fortunate enough to actually have Pergo work with us directly on this new flooring that they just came out with. It's called Pergo Outlast and it's actually a waterproof flooring. It has like a sealant on the top of it. And then when you put the floor down and go around all the edges with silicone, so water can't get underneath the floor. And what's really cool about that is normally with a laminate type flooring, you can't really like leave water on it. And with this flooring, you can actually, if you spill something on it and you don't notice it for 24 hours, the flooring is gonna be perfectly fine. Now, why is that good for pets? How many times do you guys see our dogs come in with wet, muddy feet or wet from the snow and then they lay on the floor, you know? And then the same thing, accidents happen, you know, things happen. Well, anyway, Pergo was kind enough to work with us directly. They wanted us to help spread the word about this new flooring and they wanted us to tell you guys why we chose it. And the biggest reason why I chose it, Pergo is a great company. They make an awesome flooring. Memphis needs her nails trimmed. I should have done that before I filmed this. But anyway, throughout the next couple vlogs, you guys are gonna see us doing some installation of this flooring. We'll kind of tell you how we're doing it, show you how to do it. Jamie and I are doing it ourselves because it's very easy. Down in the video description below, we'll have links to Pergo's website, things like that. So if you guys want even more information on the Pergo and their flooring and all that stuff, it'll be down in the video description below. And then once we get the rest of the house done, the living room, because this flooring is actually, surprise, going in the rest of the house. When we get the living room done, I'm gonna do a full video on the dog's channel explaining the perks, the benefits, the reasons why I chose the flooring. But on this channel, we're kind of just doing this short little overview and putting in the floor. So I wanted to let you guys know the flooring was provided to us by Pergo to review. So that's what we're doing. We're reviewing the floor, showing how easy it is to install and telling you guys about it. I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the video and I think I'm gonna go clip clicky chick's nails. Alright, enjoy the video. We're gonna install some flooring. Look, camera magic. It's already there. So we're finally installing a floor. Yeah It's going pretty good. Yeah Well, I was gonna show you guys. Jamie's got knee pads on. Yeah Helps. So I was gonna show you how we install the Pergo floor. I got a full piece in the corner up here that runs to right about here. And I had to notch out a segment where the pipe comes through the floor. Right there. Yep. So anyway, the pipe comes up there and that's a full section. Then the second section is another full section and the third section I actually had to cut about eight to, I think it was nine inches off of it. So I cut that nine inches off and I would save that for the third piece over here. Right here. Now the second piece I had to determine how long to cut it. So I got my first line here and my third line there. So my second line I'm gonna pick not exactly in the middle, more close to this side. Oakley's gonna help us. Oakley's like, I want to tell the story dad. I want to tell the story. So I cut that one about 20 inches and the remainder was like I'm gonna show them your lines because you can't really see them. Yeah, they really blend in. That's the line for the first board. There's the split line for the next board and there's the line for the other ones. And then you'll see around the corner here. I had to leave a gap. So that's a three-eighths inch gap that our molding will cover that and that allows for the floor to adjust and settle into place really well. And then because this is the Pergo Outlast and it is the waterproof flooring in that gap, we actually have to put like a... What's that stuff called? Silicone, yeah. So that it can, so that it remains waterproof so that if water does get to the edge it can't go underneath the floor. When I put the... The floor has to be done for that though. Yeah, when I put the trim down I will silicone. Actually, I'll silicone the trim really well. And then I'll seat that trim down on there and nail it into place so that I know that there's silicone there. This is the remainder of the second board I cut and it's got to go in the third spot. So really close and the way to measure it is it has to go this direction. So this is the way we're gonna line the board. So to measure it, see it's too long right now. So to measure it real quick what we'll do is we'll take that and we'll flip it just like that upside down. Now you want to leave a 3 eighths inch gap. So we're gonna make a mark right where the board stops, the existing board stops, and then we'll measure 3 eighths inch that way. We'll make our cut and then flip it back over, our cut is up against our wall and that will seat right down. Daisy and they're making all that noise. You guys want to know what's going on? Well, look what's going on out here. Look at these huge snowflakes. So we actually got, what was it, eight inches of snow last night and we're, or no, yeah, eight inches or something like that. We're actually supposed to get an additional four to eight inches tonight. There's a robin that just landed in that tree. He thinks it's spring, but this sure does not look like spring. Oh, I lost her. She's on the other side of the pergola. So much fun, so much fun in the snow. All right, now we're gonna show you guys how we put the floor together. Just an extra piece or the next piece here and I'm gonna start it under this side and then I'm gonna bring that all the way up and to where it's pretty snug. But the trick is to get that tab underneath there and get it right close like that. And then we're gonna use this extra piece of flooring here. I'll assemble it. Look at that. Just to protect that edge. And then I'm gonna just tap it. What you got Shelby? Is that one of Memphis's birthday toys? Did you try to take it outside? So apparently the other day Shelby took this little birdie outside and we all missed it and she left it back by the tree. And it got semi buried in the snow and then believe it or not, Oakley brought it back in. She saved the bird for you because you left him out there. He was gonna die out there. He can't really die because he's stuck, but... You left him out there and Oakley had to bring him back in. You're lucky she's around. Because you'd have lost it in all that snow. Speaking of snow... Look at that. We are supposed to get another four to eight inches throughout the night tonight. Yay, spring snow! This is the best thing about this. You two are both like super excited and then there's Shelby. Hi. Shelby, go to bed. Go to bed. I know. Memphis, go to bed. Come on Oakley, let's go to bed. Go to bed. All the way. Get your little feet across that line. No, that's jumping. Oh, there you go. One for you. Shelby's like, but I was in here first. One for you.
